Horse Wizard Wants Your Money
READ MORE: Horse Racing, Horse Wizard
Owners of horse tracks have been trying to overcome one of the challenges to the industry for years. We’re not talking drugged horses and the perception of fixed races. It’s the lack of constant action that proves difficult for the industry to address. Races go off every 20 minutes at each track, but even with ten tracks running live at the same time, there’s quite a bit of dead time for gamblers. Enter Magna Entertainment’s “Horse Wizard.”
“Live, simulcast races are sent to Horse Wizard machines from a single Game Control Center. By using the Game Control Center we minimize the time between races with a goal of three to five minutes. The frequency of races holds the interest of the player and provides her with more wagering opportunities.”
Notice they say these are live races, meaning these are not slots or video poker-type terminals. It’s just another interface for the gambler (as opposed to the horseplayer, for whom this would be a horrible habit) to enjoy themselves at the track. Anything that brings money and people to horse racing, no matter how goofy, is agreeable in our book.
