MLB Betting: Astros’ History Keeps Line Expensive

OSWALTFACE.jpgWe were wondering about why this line was so inflated yesterday(-180 yesterday, -175 currently). As much as we love Roy Oswalt and the idea that the Houston Astros(the “team of destiny”) are bound to keep this series somewhat intriguing. According to some gambling books, the public is driving the line:

“The line is definitely inflated,” says BetCRIS linesmaker Randy Stafford. “It’s a must win for Houston, that’s pretty much why and most of the public sees it that way.”

Trailing 2-0 in the best-of-seven series, Houston can’t afford any slipups against the AL’s top team, who used a walk-off homerun by Scott Podsednik Monday night to grab a commanding two-game lead.

But as any Astros supporter will tell you, it’s not over until the fat lady sings.

Resiliency is Houston’s middle name and it’s what’s given the Astros the strength to stage an improbable climb through the ranks of the NL standings, to capturing the Wild Card and then toppling both the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals.”

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Still seems too expensive. We’re cheap.
