NYC Mayoral Election: Can You Hear the Drums, Fernando?
READ MORE: Fernando Ferrer, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Political Betting
Incumbent moneybags Mayor Michael Bloomberg is only a small favorite to repeat as mayor of New York City according to odds available at SportsInteraction.com. Bloomberg is paying out 1.66 ($166 for every $100 wagered, plus stake) and Democratic challenger Fernando Ferrer is paying 2.10( $210 for every $100, plus stake). Bloomberg is still favored thanks to the remarkable amount of rich white people in Manhattan, but with Ferrer showing respectable odds, it makes one wonder if the books are predicting an outer borough uprising that may shake things up? However, be wary of the recent trend of betting on people with mustaches—University of Pittsburgh’s Dave Wannstedt, Rafael Palmeiro of the Baltimore Orioles—and expect these odds to shift dramatically as soon as Novemeber rolls around. We like Bloomberg and an easy bounce. Get in early, though.
