Political Betting: Fading Karl Rove
READ MORE: Karl Rove, Political Betting, Wonkette
We’re a little pissed. We spend a good portion of our summer lobbying for a line on fat-faced scuttlebutt(and George W. political strategist, sorry) Karl Rove and we cover the crap out of it. Then our intern-fellating sister over at Wonkette runs an item today letting us know that the public is hopping all over the betting line at Sportsbook.com on Rove keeping his job and his filthy hands clean. 70% of the public to be exact, is popping on Rove and Sportsbook was forced to readjust their lines to 10/11 on both sides. Hmm….and you know who else is getting 70% of the public’s betting money tonight? Virginia Tech. Who plays Maryland. Both are near D.C. We smell something more rotten than a Chappaquiddick smoothie.

We’ll keep you updated. However, Tradesports enthusiasts should have learned from the Michael Jackson trial that rich white people do not usually go to prison.

NYC Mayoral Election: Can You Hear the Drums, Fernando?
READ MORE: Fernando Ferrer, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Political Betting
Incumbent moneybags Mayor Michael Bloomberg is only a small favorite to repeat as mayor of New York City according to odds available at SportsInteraction.com. Bloomberg is paying out 1.66 ($166 for every $100 wagered, plus stake) and Democratic challenger Fernando Ferrer is paying 2.10( $210 for every $100, plus stake). Bloomberg is still favored thanks to the remarkable amount of rich white people in Manhattan, but with Ferrer showing respectable odds, it makes one wonder if the books are predicting an outer borough uprising that may shake things up? However, be wary of the recent trend of betting on people with mustaches—University of Pittsburgh’s Dave Wannstedt, Rafael Palmeiro of the Baltimore Orioles—and expect these odds to shift dramatically as soon as Novemeber rolls around. We like Bloomberg and an easy bounce. Get in early, though.

Bettors are finally accepting the fact that more Americans love the current GW Bush administration than one would think and are climbing a board the Dick Cheney Large Bulge Express for President in 2008. According to the lunatic sharps at Sportsbook, Cheney’s odds are now 20/1 from 100/1. Hillary Clinton is still the popular favorite to win the Democratic nomination at 7/2, but her odds for becoming president have lengthened substantially since May.

Well-polished UK Prime Minster Tony Blair’s odds of leaving before his next term are not looking good according to the lines put forth by William Hill. Despite rumors that the dapper war monger will quit as PM prior to the next election, according to the odds there is very little support for an early exit. Most of the bets show Tony Blair will still be in office in 2010 and beyond. 2008 is the 6/4 favorite to be the year that Blair leaves with 2005/06 the 12/1 outsider.

Edward Heath Dies: Political Bettors Mourn, Death Poolers Rejoice
READ MORE: Celebrity Dead Pools, Edward Heath, Political Betting

From Political Betting:
Edward Heath was a fine man. I had the chance to meet him on several occasions the first being in 1955 has a young Conservative party volunteer during the general election that year and I always found him to be an excellent and honorable man. His 1970 election victory was in part because of his principals and his ability to connect with the middle class. It is sad that his primerships were overshadowed by the problems thats faced Britian during the 1970’s, endless powercuts, the beginning of the troubles in Northern Ireland a three-day working week, a pay freeze, all against the background of the oil crisis.
From Cash 4 Cadavers:
Sir Edward Heath, the conservative British prime minister from 1970-1974, has died at the age of 89. Edward is peculiar because of his apparently desire to be disliked; he scowled constantly, would give interviewers The Silent Treatment, and never married because “a lot of politicians seem to regret they’ve got wives.” Once Margaret Thatcher seized party leadership from him in 1975, he decided to squander the rest of his legislative years “sniping ineffectively” at her. Gotta respect the dedication to his craft.
