Supreme Court Betting: Stay Away From the Ladies?
READ MORE: Judge Edith Clement, Judge Edith Jones, Judge Janice Brown, Judge Michael Luttig, Judge Michael O'Connell, Supreme Court Betting, Tradesports
As the nomination names are still being bounced around, Slate breaks down who they think the favorites are to fill the recently expired William Rehnquist’s seat on the Supreme Court. The article hints to the fact that even though there’s been a clammoring for a female justice, the popular names like judges Edith Clement, Edith Jones, and Janice Rogers Brown might be, um, not smart enough. Or at least not as smart as John Roberts:
None of the women whose names are being bandied about this week are known intellectual stars like Roberts, which makes it seem harder than it is for Bush both to satisfy his female base and appoint another world-class legal mind.
The article suggests that more than likely it’ll be either Judge Michael O’Connell or Judge Michael Luttig to win the vacancy. Judges Brown, Clement, and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales are still the most heavily traded on Tradesports.
