Supreme Court Betting: Wipe Up The Falling Miers

Oh, the joys of predictive market betting. Scarecrow-faced Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers is seemingly a lost cause to have her nomination confirmed after all this talk of presdiential kickbacks and Roe v. Wade-ness. Seems like all the Tradsports investors are bailing on her nomination contract at a rapid pace according to the latest reports:

“At approximately 8:30 EST this morning traders monitoring the Harriet Miers confirmation process began selling aggressively contracts betting against her confirmation - probability drops from 62 to 20 in heavy trading.”

That’s 42 points. This morning. What we can make out of all of this is that it appears most people who play the futures markets on Tradesports are stridently pro-choice. Which is not a surprise, really, given that they are actively also betting on the bird-flu and Hurricane Wilma as well. They’re tactful like that.
