The Volunteers have not disappointed us so far this season—except that Florida game, of course, as last week they blew into Baton Rouge and shocked the staggered LSU Tigers. However, we love the letdown game and think that after a short week, they’ll be a little flat in this one. Sure, they’ll probably win, but it doesn’t seem likely they’ll cover the full 21.5 here. Both of these teams are 1-2 ATS, but again, we’re playing the letdown card here.

This is a tough one. We lost big when we took the Tennessee Volunteers last week against the University of Florida, even though we heard all of the clamor about the rejuvenated, Zook-less Gators. It wasn’t the blowout everybody’d called, but we stil didn’t cover. So now the Vols are getting 6 1/2 versus an amped up, exhausted and emotion-fueled LSU squad that plays its first game back in its stadium since Hurricane Katrina blew eveything away. Head-scratching commences. We’re not going to think emotionally with this one, since that bit us in the hairy ass when with the ??? Saints and their first “home” game at Giants Stadium last week. And that’s the only reason the Vols are getting as many points as they are. However, unlike the Saints, LSU may actually be good. They’re ranked #4 in the country and have a proven hurricane-proof program and are national title bound if they make it through the SEC intact. And the Vols, as many have pointed out, may not be as good as advertised—the two quarterback-scheme against the Gators seemed a little bit of a tell in terms of their offense being a bit jittery. Regardless, we still like them to cover and love the under at 44. Because we’re suckers and hate we hate having emotional investments in games—unless of course there’s a benefit concert before hand.
