It seems these guys running the Suns these days are determined to destroy that once great franchise they have in Phoenix.
After trading away Shaquille O’Neal and Shawn Marion, the Suns are once again on the verge of letting another one of the cornerstones of their franchise go this 2010 NBA basketball season. And in case you haven’t heard of the rumors, Amar’e Stoudemire may be on the trading block.
You read it, there are rumors claiming that the Phoenix Suns want to trade Amar’e Stoudemire away before we get to the trading deadline in a few days. The rumors claim that the Suns are shopping Stoudemire around now that he’s an All-Star and, more importantly, healthy.
Also according to the reports, the Suns have been trying to orchestrate a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers that will send Amar’e Stoudemire and Leandro Barbosa to Philly in exchange for Andre Iguodala and Samuel Dalembert. Can you believe that? I know the Suns are trying desperately hard to screw themselves over but c’mon, it doesn’t have to be THIS obvious.
Heck, they can also trade Steve Nash to Orlando for J.J. Redick while they’re at it…

At least that’s what the Sixers coach claims.
After all the whining about not starting this 2009 NBA basketball season, it looks like Allen Iverson may finally get his wish because after he returned to the Philadelphia 76ers a few days ago, current 76ers head coach Eddie Jordan has already said he will start Iverson, probably because he doesn’t have anybody else left.
In case you didn’t know, yes, Allen Iverson is back where it started it all, Philadelphia, returning to the very team that drafted him to the NBA after a bitter parting back in 2006.
It’s funny that when Iverson left the 76ers,
the team was at the very bottom of the Eastern Conference and on game night, he will return to the same team still at the very bottom of the East. When the Sixers traded Iverson to the Nuggets in 2006, they were 5-18 and on an 11-game losing streak. The Sixers are 5-15 and on a nine-game losing streak when Iverson returns Monday.
Will Iverson’s return to the Philadelphia 76ers be the boost the team is looking for? Maybe. At least their dwindling ticket sales will improve a bit.
Iverson practiced with the other four starters who will likely start on Monday against the Denver Nuggets, one of the three teams Iverson played for after leaving Philly in 2006. Iverson joined Samuel Dalembert, Elton Brand, Thaddeus Young and Willie Green in his first practice back with the team.
”It was like deja vu,” 76ers center Samuel Dalembert said of watching…

Yep, it was the 76ers who were simply MAGICAL in Orlando.
The 2009 NBA Playoffs were finally underway over the weekend and it already had its fair share of surprises right from the get-go. For starters, the Chicago Bulls came up with a shocking win over the defending champions Boston Celtics to take the early 1-0 series lead, then the Mavericks came up with a huge win over the Spurs in San Antonio to steal homecourt as well and before the weekend was over, it was Philly’s turn to stir up a commotion.
Coming into the postseason as the no.6 seed, the Philadelphia 76ers were matched-up against a very hungry Orlando Magic squad looking to take advantage of the homecourt advantage in Orlando from the no.3 spot.
It did looked like the Orlando Magic will be taking advantage of the 76ers for the entire series as they had Philly struggling in Game 1, leading by as many as 18 points at some point of the contest. Everything went the way the Magic had hoped for, at least for the first three quarters, as Courtney Lee was having a great night in his first playoff game in the NBA while Dwight Howard was on the verge of having a career night.
Then, just when everybody thought the Magic have Game 1 in the bag, the 76ers made their move. Philly, slowly but surely, erased Orlando’s 18-point lead to magically tie the game, 98-98, with less than a minute remaining. And when Andre Iguodala capped off Philly’s comeback with a 22-foot jumper with…

Philly can officially put the A.I. era to rest and welcome the new E.B. age next season.
You read it, Elton Brand ended his script in L.A. and signed a whopping five-year $79.795 million contract to join the up and coming Philadelphia 76ers team. Yep, Brand will definitely improve the 76ers frontcourt and with a guy like Andre Iguodala by his side, things are looking up again since Allen Iverson left for Denver.
Of course, the move makes the 76ers instant contenders in the Eastern Conference once the new 2008-09 NBA basketball season starts in October. And to think they almost got it done against the Pistons in the first round of the playoffs WITHOUT a player of Brand’s caliber, Philly should now be an even stronger team once the season starts all over again.
Elton Brand and the Philadelphia 76ers made it official Wednesday, ending the anticipation of a dream tandem between Brand and Baron Davis in Los Angeles, a tandem that could probably lift the Clippers from the shadow of LA’s premiere team, the Lakers.
With Brand singing with Philly, the Los Angeles Clippers should still be happy about the fact that they pulled a deal that landed them a Baron Davis before they lost their entire frontcourt.
But then again, Baron Davis has a knack for sitting out most of the games played in an entire season. They should’ve just concentrated on keeping Brand in L.A. instead of landing yet another guard in their roster.
Brand wanted to stay with the Clippers but after his agent…

We can’t breathe a sigh of relief just yet Piston fans.
Yes, the Pistons did tie their best-of-seven first round series with the 76ers in the 2008 NBA playoffs, winning Game 4, 93-84 last Sunday to send it to a best-of-three affair as the series shifts back to Detroit with both teams having won two games apiece.
However, the Detroit Pistons still have to bring their A-game considering that these guys lost at home to start this best-of-seven war. You see, the Pistons dropped Game 1, losing to the 76ers 90-86, and handing over the homecourt advantage to the young kids from Philly.
Sure, the Pistons regained
homecourt after tying this series 2-2 last Sunday, but the fact of the matter is, the Philadelphia 76ers now know that they can beat the Pistons on their own home floor and that’s something not many teams can claim this year, especially in the playoffs.
For what it’s worth, the Pistons will be coming in Game 5 riding high with momentum.
The pressure was on Detroit to tie the series and it definitely looked like Pistons are ready to succumb to the pressure in Game 4. They fell 46-36 at the half and the Philadelphia 76ers looked…

Of course, whatever happens, breaking the 1-1 tie IS a guarantee.
The 2008 NBA playoffs have begun to shift towards the yard of the lower seeded teams and in this case, Philadelphia, as the Pistons and the 76ers resume their best-of-seven first round match-up in Philly with the series tied at one game apiece.
That’s right, after the Detroit Pistons were defeated by Philadelphia in shocking fashion back in Game 1, the 76ers return home for Game 3 with the homecourt advantage over the no.2 seeded team from the 313.
Although the Pistons won Game 2 convincingly, they STILL have a lot of work to do as they try to regain homecourt, looking to win at least one of the next two games to be played in the City of Brotherly Love against the somewhat pesky Philadelphia 76ers team.
The Pistons STILL have a lot of concerns coming into Game 3 as well. Although they pounded the 76ers in Game 2 en route to a convincing 105-88 win, it doesn’t guarantee that the Pistons we saw in Game 1 won’t materialize in Philly on Friday night.
You see, back in Game 1, Rasheed Wallace and the rest of the Pistons looked…

Yup, the Pistons are finally in playoff mode and Piston fans like me can probably breathe a sign of relief until the next round comes.
The first round of the 2008 NBA playoffs is heating up with the higher seeds winning over their ”lesser-seeded” counterparts to kick off their respective postseason campaigns. That’s except the no.2 seeded team from Detroit of course. The 76ers shocked the world back in Game 1 when they came up with a 90-86 win over the Pistons in Detroit. And boy, what a shocker that was indeed.
That’s probably a distant memory now as the Detroit Pistons were successful in sending a message to the rest of the upstart Sixers. After beating Philadelphia in convincing fashion, winning 105-88 in Game 2, it’s quite clear that the Pistons are finally ready for the playoffs and a team like the 76ers should have no business beating them on the hardwood.
With the Philadelphia 76ers losing to the Pistons in Game 2, the series is now tied at one game apiece as this best-of-seven first round face-off shifts to Philadelphia for Game 3 on Friday night.
Unlike the first game, Richard Hamilton and the rest of the Pistons simply refused to let the 76ers rally to get back in Game 2. After blowing a 15-point lead midway through the third quarter in Game 1 en route to their shocking loss to Philly, the Pistons made sure that thing won’t happen for the second straight game.
It was a balanced attack as usual for Detroit with four of its starters dropping double-digits against Philly. Hamilton led the way with 20 points while Tayshaun Prince, Antonio McDyess and my boy Rasheed Wallace dropped 16 points each.
Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey again led the…

Yes people, the beasts of the East will collide in the postseason.
They can say everything they want about how weak the East is compared to the West but one thing they can’t deny is the fact that the East has homecourt advantage throughout the 2008 NBA playoffs.
You read it people, thanks to the no.1 seed Boston Celtics and no.2 seed Detroit Pistons, the Eastern Conference have the two best teams in the league, as far as overall win-loss record is concerned. If any of these two teams reaches the 2008 NBA finals, the championship series will start in the East side of things in the NBA.
That is of course, if these two teams reach that far. And as far as the Celtics are concerned, the young Atlanta Hawks, seeded no.8, is the first of two teams looking to shock the rest of the world in the playoffs.
The Hawks, led by Josh Smith, Joe Johnson and Mike Bibby, will try to outplay the Big Three of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Unfortunately for the ATL, the Celtics were not crowned as…

Yes people, it happened.
As the 2007-08 NBA basketball season shifts towards the postseason, something happened right then and there on the basketball court that even the basketball gods should find disrespectful.
People, the Philadelphia 76ers just defeated the No.1 team in the NBA, the Boston Celtics. Shocking huh? Oh yeah, get this… The Sixers did it at the TD Banknorth Garden right in front of the Celtics fans in freakin’ Boston. How’s that for the shocker of all shockers eh?
The 76ers came up with a remarkable, 19-0 run to bring them
back from a double-digit, fourth-quarter deficit and beat the powerhouse Boston Celtics team, 95-90, last Monday.
The win moved the 76ers above .500 for the first time this season. But of course, getting above .500 shouldn’t mean anything but beating the freakin’ Boston Celtics in Boston will.
Andre Iguodala scored 10 straight points in the final quarter to help his 76ers engineer such a devastating loss to the No.1 team in the NBA. He finished with a game-high 28.
”It shows how hard we’ve worked to get back,” Andre Iguodala said.
”But I think we still have to have that mentality like we’re a…”

Sadly, that’s the only thing these two teams will be playing for on Friday.
After two months into the 2007-08 NBA basketball season, both the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers are sitting at the very bottom of the Boston-dominated Atlantic division.
If it wasn’t for the Boston Celtics, the Atlantic division could become the worst division ever in all of basketball. If it’s any consolation for both the Knicks and the Sixers, at least the Miami Heat suck far worse than them… COMBINED.
The last time the New York Knicks were on the basketball court, they came up with a huge win over city rivals, New Jersey Nets. Yep, the Knicks won one despite a game-high 31 points from New Jersey Nets star Richard Jefferson. Imagine that.
Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph carried the Knicks to their sixth win of the season after scoring 29 and 25 points respectively.
At the other side of the court, the last time the Philadelphia 76ers played, that powerhouse team from Boston just kicked their ass. The Sixers did looked like they were on the verge of probably the biggest upset win of the season.
But after what turned out to be a surprising first half, Philly simply ran out of gas in the second half as Boston ended each of the remaining two quarters with no less than a seven-point quarter lead en route to…
