Mark McGwire finally admits he used Steroids during his MLB career, when will Manny Pacquiao do the same?

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Why now? Well, McGwire probably wants to be in the MLB Hall of Fame and he probably thinks doing this is his ticket.

After losing out on the Hall of Fame voting for God knows how many times already, Mark McGwire felt it was time to finally admit to the very thing that has cast a shadow over what was once a stellar MLB career.

Yup, he finally admitted of using steroids during the time he and Sammy Sosa were blasting all them balls out of the park. He finally came clean people. But what difference does this make, we all knew he was on steroids anyway when he broke the home run record back in 1998 right?

McGwire said in an interview that he used steroids on and off the field for nearly a decade. But he believes the drugs didn’t gave him more power to hit home runs. As far as he’s concerned, his ability to hit home runs is a God given gift. Yeah, suuure it is.

”I was given a gift to hit home runs,” McGwire told Bob Costas on the MLB Network. He also told Costas that studying pitchers and making his swing shorter led to his increase in home runs and that he could have hit them without PEDs.

”I truly believe so,” McGwire said. ”I believe I was given this gift. The only reason I took steroids was for health purposes.”

Jeez… He’s almost as bad a liar as Manny Pacquiao

Ready to jump on the Cincinnati Bengals bandwagon?

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYou should.

The Cincinnati Bengals have been surprising people this 2009 NFL football season. They sit on top of the AFC North after all those years of struggling to make the playoffs. Are these guys for real? Well, after earning what is arguably their biggest win of the season, they probably are.

You read it, the Cincinnati Bengals have made a statement last Sunday. They just beat the defending Super Bowl champions Pittsburgh Steelers, ON A BAD DAY. That’s right, the Bengals struggled all game long and yet, they still managed to pull through and get the win.

chad_ochocincoSo how in the heck do you beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on a bad day? Easy. Defense. For the first time at Heinz Field, the best defense on the grass wasn’t wearing purple and gold, it was Cincinnati in orange and black.

You read it, the Bengals defense have stepped it up and after beating the defending champions Pittsburgh Steelers, 18-12, Cincinnati at 7-2 is on top of the AFC North and is in prime position to return to the postseason. Chad Ochocinco was right after all when he said the Bengals will make the playoffs before the season started. How about that huh…

The Kansas City Chiefs release Larry Johnson (The dude probably won’t be posting anything on Twitter now…)

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

People from Kansas City saw this one coming a mile away.

To say that the Kansas City Chiefs are having a campaign to forget this 2009 NFL football season could be an understatement. After earning their first win of the season when they beat the Washington Redskins two weeks ago, they are once again losing games. These guys are currently on a two-game losing skid and I don’t see anything that could change the Chiefs’ fortunes for the immediate future.

Of course, that won’t stop the Kansas City Chiefs from making some moves. And they may have made the biggest one yet. You see, the Chiefs have finally let franchise running back Larry Johnson go and for the first time in the Pro Bowler’s career, he’s no longer welcome in Kansas.

larry_johnsonAfter seven years playing in Kansas City, Larry Johnson was finally released by the Chiefs on the same day that he was due back from his second suspension in the past 12 months. Is this just a matter of the Chiefs getting rid of excess baggage or is Kansas City letting go of a solid running back who still has a few good years left in him?

The rest of the NFL thinks the latter.

Teams like the Chicago Bears and the Houston Texans have already expressed their desire of signing a player of Johnson’s caliber as soon as they learned that the Chiefs have finally released him. Will we see a deal…

Your Gambling Guide for Week 9 in College Football

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Will we see some movers in the BCS rankings this week?

You know it, Week 9 of the 2009 NCAA college football season continues with more than a few huge games that could have an impact on the BCS standings after the weekend.

First, we have this game between the Georgia Bulldogs and the team on top of the BCS food chain, the Florida Gators. The annual showdown in Jacksonville will give the Bulldogs a chance to prove that they still belong in the mix with the top teams in the nation as they play the Gators.

The Georgia Bulldogs, who lost at home to LSU and tim_tebowTennessee, gained some rhythm with a huge 34-10 win at Vanderbilt as they look to close the month with an upset over the defending BCS champions.

For Florida, all eyes will be on Tim Tebow and his sore shoulder. If he is able to play all out with no effects from the bruised non-throwing shoulder he suffered at Kentucky, Florida should put up a lot of points. The Gators are averaging more than 40 points per game, and Tebow accounts for…

England second home to the New England Patriots?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgAnd that’s not just because England fans cheer for the Patriots for having ‘England’ on their team’s name.

Yes, it’s silly really. But fans from England will now keep on cheering for them Patriots after the way they just dominated the field at Wembley Stadium. It was the first game overseas this 2009 NFL football season and this time, it was the Buccaneers bending over for the Patriots en route to the 35-7 ass whooping.

The New England Patriots were winless on the road coming into this one, losing their last two games away from home. But thanks to the American football fans at Wembley Stadium, New England finally got its first win on the road in England, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in emphatic fashion.

tom_bradyThe way English fans have been behind the Patriots that afternoon made the Buccaneers feel lost. And boy, were they lost indeed as they were yet to hit the scoreboard after almost two quarters. The Patriots were already ahead of the Bucs 21-0 before Josh Johnson connected with Antonio Bryant to score Tampa Bay’s first score of the game. But it was clear the Patriots had all the momentum, and with the crowd at Wembley Stadium behind them, the Bucs didn’t even had a chance.

It was evident in the second half when the New England Patriots scored…

Your Gambling Guide for Week 7 in College Football

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

There sure have been a couple of HUGE surprises last week.

Admit it, the way Tim Tebow and Sam Bradford came back to the field last weekend caught most of you off guard. Hopefully, they didn’t make you lose that much dough. Coming to Week 7 of the 2009 NCAA college football season, we’ll get you ready and hyped up for this weekend’s games so you won’t make the same mistakes twice.

Coming from their first win over a Football Bowl Subdivision team in nearly a year, the Louisville Cardinals gun for back to back victories over another when they play the Connecticut Huskies Saturday night.

usc_trojansRyan Payne kicked a 32-yard field goal with 30 seconds left to play to give Louisville its first FBS win, 25-23, over Southern Mississippi. Wide receiver Scott Long had a career day for the Cardinals, with 146 yards receiving on five catches, plus a touchdown.

The Connecticut Huskies, meanwhile, look to bounce back from a disheartening loss they suffered against Pittsburgh. Connecticut (3-2, 0-1 in Big East) led 21-6 after Andre Dixon scored on a 2-yard run to end a 61-yard drive with 3:56 remaining in the third quarter. But Pitt quarterback Bill Stull, who made several major mistakes in the first half, found Jonathan Baldwin on a 26-yard scoring pass play set up by Dion Lewis’ 32-yard run to cut it to 21-13 before eventually stealing the game from…

Can Plaxico Burress do a Michael Vick and make a comeback to the NFL after serving his sentence?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

It’s too bad that the league lost another one of its premiere stars to prison.

Plaxico Burress, the former Super Bowl star of the New York Giants, was sentenced to two years in prison for possessing a weapon at a Manhattan nightclub. He will be supervised for two years after his release.

Burress pleaded guilty before the start of the 2009 NFL football season to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He expects to begin serving time immediately and says he hopes to return to football.

The gun, which Plaxico Burress was carrying, was not licensed in New York or in New Jersey, where he lived. He had been charged on two counts of weapons possession and one count of reckless endangerment.

plaxico_burressNo charges were filed against Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce, who was with Burress the night of the incident, drove him to the hospital and took the gun to his home in New Jersey before arranging to have it returned to Burress. With time off for good behavior, Burress likely will serve 20 months. He could be released from prison as early as the spring of 2011 and will be monitored an additional two years after he is freed.Burress hired a consultant to teach him how to use his time in prison productively and is already planning for a comeback in the NFL just like Michael Vick, who was given the second opportunity after committing a crime.

”When I get out, I’ll be 33, not 43,” Burress said in an interview…

Week 4 Picks for the 2009 College Football Season

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgFor those of you still whining about USC’s loss to Washington, get over it because this could be the week that’ll get your money back.

Well, we’re not promising you anything but since Week 4 of the 2009 NCAA college football season will definitely give all of us who lost a lot of dough on that USC game a fresh start, it doesn’t hurt to hope for the best.

And hope for the best we will indeed as Week 4 on the college gridiron should give you some interesting games for you to enjoy and hopefully, win some cash out of it too. For starters, we have the Mississippi Rebels, ranked No.4 in the Associated Press poll, getting their first big test of the season Thursday night when they face the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia. The Rebels are coming off a rather easy 52-6 win over Southeastern Louisiana last Saturday.

usc_trojansHowever, while that one was a breeze for Mississippi, the same couldn’t be said this week since they only have four days to prepare for the South Carolina Gamecocks. Fortunately, the Rebels are healthy again after an outbreak of flu last week that affected almost a third of the roster. Let’s see if they still have something left in the tank this Thursday.

Next, we have the Virginia Tech Hokies hosting the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday as the Hokies will ride on their momentum as they gun for their third win in four outings. The last time the Hokies were on the field, the Nebraska Cornhuskers limited them to two first downs and 55 yards for the first 28 minutes of the second half before bouncing right back up with two plays, Tyrod Taylor’s 81-yard pass to Danny Coale that put it at the Nebraska 3, then Taylor’s 11-yard strike to Dyrell Roberts with 21 seconds left for the win over the stunned Cornhuskers.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Hokies will play the…

On Week 3 of the 2009 NFL Season, Michael Vick will return to the field to sing ‘Who let the dogs out?’

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Um… Probably not.

But on him OFFICIALLY returning to the field on Week 3 of the 2009 NFL football season, that’s a certainty since NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has finally cleared Vick to play for the Eagles on the third week of the season.

That’s right, Michael Vick will be officially back in the National Football League. After a surprise signing by the Philadelphia Eagles on Aug. 13 with a one-year deal for $1.6 million with a team option for a second year at $5.2 million, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has been cleared to return in week 3 of the regular season.

”We’re looking for a success story here,” said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who announced his decision last week in a question – and – answer session with writers. ”We would like to see him be successful, and this is a transition to hopefully maximize the opportunity for him to be successful.”

michael_vickYou can bet your ass the entire Philadelphia Eagles organization is hoping for the same.

Goodell suspended Vick indefinitely in August 2007 after the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback admitted bankrolling a dogfighting operation on his property in Virginia. At the time, Goodell said Vick must show remorse before he would consider reinstating him.

Vick was released from federal custody July 20 after serving 18 months of a 23-month prison sentence for his role in running a dogfighting ring in Virginia. Previously, Goodell said he would consider Vick for full reinstatement by…

SPORTSBETTING.COM looks ahead to Week 2 of the 2009 NFL Football season and wants you to bet

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

I don’t know why those guys want you to bet specifically on the second week of the coming season but they want you to.

SPORTSBETTING.com will be putting out lines on every NFL game of the coming 2009 NFL football season, from Week 1 through Week 17 with their new prospective bets, but right now they have the NFL Games of the Year posted up in the NFL props section and some of ‘em land on the second week.

Week 2 of the regular season sees a number of notable Games of the Year, including the first-ever regular season game played at the new state-of-the-art facility the Dallas Cowboys now call home.

jessica_simpsonWho will help christen the new stadium? The divisional rival New York Giants. This should be a great game. The Cowboys are favored by 2.5 points for the stadium’s regular season debut, and even tough bettors know Romo will drop the ball again at some point, they sure STILL love ‘em Cowboys.

Dating back to 1986, the Cowboys have the edge against the Giants in home games during the month of September, going 4-2 straight up and 5-1 against the spread. Dallas is also very impressive when favored by 4-points or less, going 9-0 SU and 8-1 ATS. In the Giants’ last nine games when underdogs of 4-points or less, they’ve gone 6-3 SU and 7-2 ATS.

Who’d be your pick?

Another game of interest involves the team that made the…
