Sign that Brett Favre is coming back to the Vikings?

Monday, June 7th, 2010

In case you’re wondering, yes, Brett Favre is still teasing the rest of the NFL about whether he’ll finally retire or come back for one more season.

And in case you have not been keeping count, Brett Favre has been putting his fans through this charade for the third straight year now. First it was in 2008 when he announced his retirement before ending up in New York to play for the Jets. Then there was that ”low-key” press conference where he announced his retirement again only to play for the Minnesota Vikings afterwards.

Coming to the 2010 NFL football season, it’s no surprise that everybody is looking at Brett Favre again, wondering if he’ll finally retire this time or give it another go, for the third straight time. And if you are a Vikings fan hoping that Favre will indeed come back for the coming season, then you should be happy to know that we have seen some signs that say Favre will indeed suit up and play again.

If you didn’t know it yet, Brett Favre decided to undergo ankle surgery and his decision to have surgery down south has decreased any doubts about his desire to play for the Minnesota Vikings again. Favre’s teammates from Minnesota share the same sentiments.

”I think that’s some promising news,” tight end Visanthe Shiancoe said after Thursday’s practice. ”Why’d he get ankle surgery? That’s the first thing that came through my mind.”

”Seems like he got it for the season, because that’s what he needed to come back to the Vikings. But whatever’s best for him and his family and for his old body, old, old, old body, I stress that. He has to make a decision that’s good for him.”

”You always want to end on top,” Shiancoe said…

Brett Favre is still not telling if he’ll come back or not

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Well, what do you expect?

With still more than a few months left before we get to see what the 2010 NFL football season has in store for us, Brett Favre ain’t budging yet when asked on what exactly are his plans for his imminent future in the NFL.

You see, Brett Favre said that he still hasn’t decided yet on whether he’ll play again next season, and doesn’t expect to make an announcement anytime soon. Well, we can’t say we haven’t heard something like this from him before.

Appearing on NBC’s ”The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” Favre, who played for the Minnesota Vikings last season, politely balked when host Jay Leno asked for his thoughts on returning for the 2010 season.

”Well Jay, it’s only been a month, and I know now that I’m just not going to say anything anytime soon, just going to kind of sit back, relax, enjoy the offseason,” Brett Favre said in his first public appearance since the Minnesota Vikings lost in the NFC championship game at New Orleans back in January 24.

The pride of Kiln, Miss., Favre is the NFL’s career leader in nearly every major passing category. Hell, the guy’s a three-time league MVP too. The former star quarterback of the Green Bay Packers had one of his best seasons ever after doing what was once unfathomable, playing for Green Bay’s rivals, the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings were rewarded with 33 touchdowns and the lowest…

Will Brett Favre Retire or Return for Another Season?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Heeere we go again.

In what has now become an annual tradition in the NFL, football fans will once again wait for Favre’s decision on whether he’ll walk away from football and retire or if he’ll give it another shot once we crown another champion at Super Bowl XLIV.

For the fourth straight year, (or fifth… probably…) Brett Favre will talk to his family and decide if giving it another go next season is ”the right thing to do.” But as of this writing, Favre says his return for another campaign is ”highly unlikely.” And in case you were wondering, yes, you heard that one from him before.

”Just wondering if I can hold up, especially after a day like today,” Favre said after throwing for 310 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday in their loss to the New Orleans Saints. ”Physically and mentally. That was pretty draining. I am going to go home, a couple of days and just talk it over with the family.”

In case you didn’t know, Brett Favre has been contemplating on retirement for years. Heck, the guy ALREADY RETIRED, TWICE, but decided to come back anyway. He came back to play for the New York Jets after his first retirement then retired again after missing the playoffs only to come back last August to play for the Minnesota Vikings.

With Favre once again at that time of the year, can we…

Saints are in Super Bowl XLIV, send Favre to retirement

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Probably. Knowing Favre, he’ll probably retire for the third time only to come back two weeks after his retirement speech.

In case you missed it, the New Orleans Saints probably convinced Brett Favre to finally call it quits with the way they’ve been putting the guy on the ground all game long en route to their 31-28 win in overtime to earn the trip to Super Bowl XLIV in Miami, Florida.

Yep, the New Orleans Saints put the hurt on Brett Favre alright, as the Vikings quarterback NEVER felt comfortable inside the pocket all day long. To make matters worse, the way the Vikings have been turning the ball over didn’t help.

The Minnesota Vikings turned the ball over FIVE TIMES. FIVE. You can’t do that when you’re up against a team like the New Orleans Saints who are just dying to have the ball back on offense and in a game like this with a trip to the Super Bowl at stake.

Nobody told the Vikings. Nobody told Brett Favre.

The Vikings had the perfect opportunity to salvage the game and win it in regulation. They WERE in field goal range with 19 seconds remaining in the game. Unfortunately, they had 12 guys in the huddle as the Vikes were penalized for five yards, taking the field goal attempt out of the question.

They still had a shot at getting back inside field goal range if…

Wait… We hear Quentin Rampage Jackson is postponing retirement to play for the Minnesota Vikings

Saturday, December 12th, 2009

Oh right, Brett Favre already did that.

But seriously, Quinton Rampage Jackson is returning to the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) probably to pacify Rashad Evans and UFC president Dana White.

That’s right, Jackson stated in his website that he’s returning to the organization to finish out his UFC contract, though he gave no timetable for his potential return.

Jackson outlined a series of events that began with his signing with the UFC, carried on until his recent decision to play B.A. Baracus in a feature version of ”The A-Team,” and ended with a decision to walk away from MMA.

rampage_jacksonJackson recently coached opposite Rashad Evans on the ”The Ultimate Fighter 10.” Team Rashad advanced seven of eight fighters past the first round, and both finalists came from his team. Evans came across as the mature, team-driven coach while Jackson was often portrayed is immature and aloof.

UFC president Dana White made no secret of his despise over Jackson’s decision to take ”The A-Team” gig and hold up what was supposed to be a post – ”TUF” coach vs. coach fight with Evans at UFC 107.

The event, which now features a headliner of lightweight champion BJ Penn vs. Diego Sanchez, was booked in Jackson’s hometown of Memphis, Tenn., and takes place next weekend without Jackson.

Jackson (30-7 MMA, 5-1 UFC), a former UFC light heavyweight champion…

Brett Favre to kill the Packers on Monday Night Football

Monday, October 5th, 2009

It’s all about No.4 in Week 4.

There are two games this 2009 NFL football season Brett Favre has probably been looking forward to ever since the Green Bay Packers allegedly gave him the boot in favor of the younger Aaron Rodgers, playing the Packers on Week 8 at Lambeau and this Monday night at the Metrodome to conclude Week 4.

Yep, you can bet your ass Brett Favre has been salivating over the chance to play against the Green Bay Packers. Although he refuses to admit it, a win over Green Bay will give him the satisfaction of proving to the Packers organization, including to himself, that he still has what it takes to be in this league.

brett_favreAfter a season with the New York Jets and a lot of retirement speeches, Brett Favre found his way back into the NFL when the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay’s hated rivals, gave him the chance to suit it up for at least one more year.

Sure, he could have just signed with other teams but since he probably wants to stick it up to the Green Bay Packers, he chose to sign with the enemy to set himself up for one classic confrontation at some point this season. Luckily, since the Vikings and…

Yes, they’re still talking about Brett Favre coming back this 2009 NFL Season with the Minnesota Vikings

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Wha?!?

My sentiments exactly. After going through off-season surgery and rehab then working out at the local Mississippi kiddie land to test his arm strength, Brett Favre has decided to stay retired because the day-in and day-out mental and physical grind of the NFL game are just too much for him.

However, there are reports claiming that some players from the Minnesota Vikings have been making bold statements that they will retire Favre’s number at the end of the 2009 NFL football season. Hell, some Vikings are even claiming that the deal to get Favre playing for them come September is already done.

Is this just a ploy by the Minnesota Vikings franchise to continue fucking with their rivals from Green Bay, Wisconsin?

brett_favreWhatever the case may be, only Favre can tell us for sure. The problem is, we probably won’t buy anything that comes out of his mouth anyway with the kind of track record he has when it comes to his retirement from the NFL.

Favre, who had shoulder surgery in May, experienced soreness in both ankles and his left knee during his private workouts in Mississippi. The pain would not subside and worsened as he continued to prepare for a potential 19th NFL season, which Favre considered proof that his health was too precarious to be trusted for a 16-game season.

Favre, who is nearly 40, has already told everybody that…

Will Brett Favre Come Out of Retirement Again?

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

This is just getting ridiculous now.

After postponing retirement back in 2007 to play one more season with the Packers, then finally retiring only to come back to the NFL to play one more season for the Packers again, retiring again then coming back to the NFL to play for the Jets before finally retiring for the third time three months ago, (whew!) it looks like Brett Favre is once again considering a return to the league for the coming 2009 NFL football season.

Yep, Brett Favre is at it again. And THIS TIME, it looks like he no longer has plans trying to win his spot back in the last city he played for. (He tried to win his starting spot back from Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay during the 2008 offseason…)

Brett FavreThis time, Favre has his eyes set on a new environment. And since you may have already heard about it by now, I will no longer prolong the anticipation. Favre is contemplating on playing for the Minnesota Vikings in the coming season and in case you have no idea the significance of Favre playing in Minnesota, the Vikings and the Packers have one of the most heated rivalries in football.

Watching Favre play for the Vikings is like watching Ron Artest play for the Pistons. And while Packer fans let Favre slide when he decided to play for the New York Jets last season, I don’t think they’ll be that easy on Favre when they see him in a…

Mistakes teams shouldn’t make in the 2009 NFL Draft

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYes, the NFL Draft is on this weekend.

And while teams are going ga-ga over the 2009 NFL Draft, let’s have a little fun on this weekend’s event shall we? In case you didn’t know, the NFL Draft has not always been a success for some NFL teams. There have been huge busts through the years the league has been doing this.

And just like what Kwame Brown has been for the Wizards before or what Greg Oden is turning out to be for the Blazers now, there WILL be busts in the NFL Draft this year. It may not happen in the coming 2009 NFL football season but it will, trust me.

Eli ManningOn that note, let’s take a look at the biggest busts in the history of the NFL Draft. Starting with someone who has already filed his retirement for probably the 4th time. Yup, we’re just waiting for him to make another comeback announcement in a few weeks.

That is of course Brett Favre. In his entire career in the NFL playing for the Green Bay Packers and just last season, for the New York Jets, the second-round draft pick has not yet blocked a single field goal attempt. Amazing huh?

The next bust in the history of the NFL Draft would have to be the selection of Terrell Owens. When you look at his statistics…

Brett Favre Retires for the 4th Time. (Or is it the 5th?)

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

Does it even matter now?

In what has now turned out to be an annual thing in the NFL, Brett Favre retires (again) at the end of the NFL season, this time without the big press conference and tears from a housewife who can’t get enough of soap operas.

In case you forgot, Brett Favre retired last year, in front of a slew of cameras with tears rolling down his cheeks. This was after he did the exact same thing the year before that, the year before that year and probably the year before that year too.

Brett FavreWhen he postponed retirement again to play for the New York Jets last season, a lot of people were surprised, not because he decided to postpone retirement one more time but because he’ll be playing for the Jets, NOT the Green Bay Packers.

I guess after all the retirement speeches Favre put us through the last few years, I’m no longer surprised to learn that he’s calling it quits again after only a year as the New York Jets quarterback. And yes, I still won’t be surprised if Favre decides to make yet another ”comeback” and play for the Jets next season, for some other team, or…
