And mind you, there are quite a few.
The 2010 NFL football season draws near and that means some NFL teams have began tweaking their rosters here and there to find that combination that they hope will win them the Super Bowl.
First we have the New York Giants. They announced that they signed Jim Sorgi to a one-year deal. Contract terms were not disclosed. He will be backing up Eli Manning after doing the same job for six years working with his brother Peyton.
Sorgi will compete with second-year man Rhett Bomar for the Giants’ backup quarterback job. The 6-foot-5, 196-pound quarterback was the Colts’ sixth-round draft choice in 2004.
He has appeared in 16 NFL games, completing 99 of 156 pass attempts for 929 yards, with six touchdowns and one interception. He played in only one game in 2009, and was placed on injured reserve in December with shoulder tendinitis.
Next, the Minnesota Vikings signed kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd and re-signed cornerback Benny Sapp. Lloyd handled kickoffs for the Carolina Panthers the past two seasons, leading the NFL with 30 touchbacks in 2008. He had 21 touchbacks last year, tied for fourth-most in the league.
Ryan Longwell remains the regular kicker for…

They shouldn’t, but they sure are heavily talking about it these days.
The Philadelphia Eagles have a lot of things to decide on before starting the 2010 NFL football season. One of which is whether they will trade quarterback Donovan McNabb. As rumors begin to circulate regarding the future of McNabb, the Eagles have been reluctant to do any moves for now.
Donovan McNabb has been the heart and soul of the Philadelphia Eagles for years. McNabb has proven to be a solid NFL quarterback but has never won the ”Big One” despite being in NFC championship games five times including a consistent four-year run from 2001 to 2004.
While Donovan McNabb has shown above-average statistics, he has no Super Bowl wins and has only won the NFC championship game once in those five attempts. This lack of success has caused controversy among Philadelphia football fans and across the NFL.
McNabb is certainly no stranger to controversy. When he was selected with the second pick in the 1999 NFL Draft, Philadelphia fans were disappointed because they wanted University of Texas running back Rickey Williams.
In 2003, McNabb was the subject of controversial comments made by…

You ready to rake in some cash on March?
What’s the biggest betting event of the year in North America? Not so fast if you guessed the Super Bowl. While the Super Bowl lays claim to being the largest wagered event of the year, March Madness surpasses the NFL’s crown jewel in total wagering volume, probably because the tourney stretches over three weeks.
There is still a little more than a month of college basketball to be played this 2010 NCAA college basketball season before Selection Sunday, but the talk of ”Bubble” teams and tournament seeds is starting to heat up as we hit the most exciting part of the NCAA hoops schedule.
One of the marquee games of every college b-ball schedule, Duke Blue Devils vs. North Carolina Tar Heels, tipped off already. It was the spotlight game for sports bettors as well, as it attracted the most action on the board. The sports betting public scored a solid win as the Tar Heels took it on the chin.
Online sportsbooks had Duke as a -5.5-point favorite, a number they easily covered and with approximately 75 percent of all the betting volume on the Blue Devils, it was a winner for the players. While NC won the NCAA basketball championship last season, they lost power forward Tyler Hansbrough to the NBA and have been a shadow of their former selves this season.
The North Carolina Tar Heels are near the bottom of the…

Can the Saints get back to form in time for the visiting Cardinals?
The New Orleans Saints missed out on perfection when they lost to the then struggling Dallas Cowboys. Then shockingly, they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers too in a game the Saints could’ve won if it wasn’t for Saints kicker Garrett Hartley missing a very makeable 37-yard field goal attempt.
But after they lost for the third straight time, this time losing to the Carolina Panthers big, 23-10, it’s clear that the Saints have a lot of fixing to do coming to their first game in the 2010 NFL playoffs against the red-hot Arizona Cardinals.
Heck, after watching the Arizona Cardinals put up 51 points to beat the Green Bay Packers last week, it’s clear that the Cardinals are clicking at just the right time.
Thanks to their ageless leader Kurt Warner who have put up a whopping five touchdowns in their 51-45 win over the Packers in overtime, the Cardinals qualified for this NFC divisional playoff game against New Orleans. And with the way the Saints have been playing lately, it seems everything has been set to motion for Arizona to defend that NFC title in the NFC championship game.
The Saints need to have a great game from Drew Brees if they want to deny the Cardinals a return trip to the NFC title game. He led the NFC in completion this year with 70.6 markers, 292.5 passing yards per game and a 109.6 passer rating. However, in their three-game losing streak to finish the season, Brees only had a couple of touchdowns and an interception, a far cry from the numbers he has been putting up early in the season.
If the Saints want to advance to the NFC championship game…

Well, Tom Coughlin certainly hopes so.
At 7-6, the New York Giants are on the brink of missing the playoffs after such a strong start to the 2009 NFL football season a few months ago.
Yes, it looks like the Dallas Cowboys are not the only team having their fair share of problems this December as we witnessed the New York Giants squander away all the momentum they’ve generated during the early parts of the season.
Once lording over the NFC East, Eli Manning and the rest of the Giants now find themselves sitting third behind the struggling Cowboys. Their remaining three games are huge if they want to clinch that wild card playoff spot. A loss could very well be the killer to their hopes of a run at the Super Bowl.
On Monday Night Football, they have the Washington Redskins in the first of three must-win games for the Giants. After this NFC East rivalry, the Giants have the Carolina Panthers before heading to the Metrodome to face the red hot Minnesota Vikings.
Yup, it doesn’t look too good for the Giants right now. But if there’s that one guy who can help the Giants make that final push for the postseason, it’s Eli Manning. Sure, he can be inconsistent at times but the fact of the matter is, the guy can make plays when it counts the most.
Just ask the Patriots after Eli led the Giants to win…

But for how long?
In case you haven’t noticed, the New England Patriots haven’t been Patriot – like lately this 2009 NFL football season. They are just barely leading a football division they should’ve been dominating with both the Dolphins and the Jets breathing down their necks.
Last Sunday though, the New England Patriots may have discovered an even bigger issue they need to address. There’s some sort of dissension going on withing the mighty Patriots contingent and as far as some Panthers are concerned, Randy Moss is in the middle of it.
Despite losing to the New England Patriots last
Sunday, 20-10, two of the Carolina Panthers secondary, specifically Chris Gamble and Chris Harris, felt the need to call out Moss, saying that the Patriots wide receiver wasn’t giving his all for his team last Sunday.
”We knew he was going to shut it down,” Chris Gamble said. ”That’s what we wanted him to do. That’s what we did. He’d just give up a lot. Slow down, he’s not going deep, not trying to run a route. You can tell, his body language.”
”I know everyone who plays against him, they can sense that. Once you get into him in the beginning of the game, he shuts it down a little bit.”
Rumors claim that this was the result of Moss getting sent home…

Betting on the NFL for the last time before Christmas Day couldn’t be any better.
Because Week 15 of the 2009 NFL football season has FOUR games for you on primetime, two of ‘em could very well rewrite history while the other two could very well rewrite the playoff seeding.
Let’s start with the first team looking to rewrite history this season, the Indianapolis Colts. In case you haven’t noticed, they haven’t lost a game for quite some time now and on Thursday night Football, they are looking to continue their undefeated streak against the Jacksonville Jaguars to kick off Week 15.
Yep, the Indianapolis Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars relive their AFC South rivalry. The Colts have already secured the AFC’s No.1 seed for the playoffs. And while the Jaguars would love to beat their AFC rivals this Thursday night and give themselves that late push for a wild card spot, the Colts are just playing too good to be beat these days.
The last time these two teams met, Indianapolis beat Jacksonville 14-12. The Colts are 12-4 all-time against the Jaguars with Peyton Manning at quarterback. The three-time league MVP, 28 of 38 for 301 yards with a touchdown and an interception in their last meeting with the Jaguars, passed for 4,354 yards with 30 TDs and 11 picks in those 16 games against Jacksonville.
Manning is looking to get back on track following a shaky…

Uh oh.
It looks like the New England Patriots are having all sorts of problems this 2009 NFL football season. After suffering back to back losses in the last two weekends, the Patriots finally snapped their losing streak last Sunday. However, despite beating the Carolina Panthers 20-10 to get themselves back in the win column, it seems they still have one huge issue they need to address.
Apparently, Randy Moss had the worst performance of his three-year marriage with the Patriots and according to two Panthers corners, the enigmatic Patriots receiver did it on purpose. Yikes.
Randy Moss finished with just one catch for 16 yards, one dropped pass, one lost fumble and a fourth quarter false start penalty for the New England Patriots. Moss was so terrible last Sunday that the home crowd at Foxboro started to boo him. Was it because of the fantastic defense shown by the Panthers or did Moss just stopped playing?
In case you didn’t know, Moss was sent home by head coach Bill Belichick when the receiver was late for a team practice in preparation for this contest against Carolina. The Patriots lost two in a row and were in desperate need of a win then and being late for an agitated Belichick is definitely something you don’t want to do. Moss did, Belichick sent him packing and the receiver’s ego was hurt since.
Against the Carolina Panthers, Randy Moss looked like…

Yep, the college gridiron has a lot more this week other than that huge SEC title game between Florida and Alabama.
Of course, since that game for the SEC championship is arguably the biggest game of the 2009 NCAA college football season to date, we can’t blame you for shutting down everything else but since we are here to make some picks for you, we’ll show you some games you can bet on as well before putting mom’s cash on Florida.
First, we have the Cincinnati Bearcats gunning for their 12th straight win as they face the Pittsburgh Panthers. Bearcats QB Tony Pike, making his first start since injuring his left forearm on Oct. 15 against South Florida, passed for 399 yards and six touchdowns helping fifth-ranked Cincinnati become 11-0 for the first time in school history with a 49-36 victory over Illinois. With the win, Cincinnati established a school record with its 17th consecutive regular season victory.
The Pittsburgh Panthers on the other hand, have tight end Dorin Dickerson, who has been selected as a finalist for the John Mackey Award, an award presented to the nation’s top tight end. He joins Aaron Hernandez of Florida and Dennis Petta of BYU as finalists.
But will he be enough to help the Panthers outplay Cincinnati’s Tony Pike? I don’t think so. Pick the Bearcats by a touchdown.
Next, we have the USC Trojans. They still have a shot at tying for second in…

This week, we’re kicking off on the wild side.
Yep, you read it, Week 11 of the 2009 NFL football season will kick off on the wild side because this week, the Miami Dolphins and that wildcat offense will travel to Bank of America Stadium to take on the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football.
Now I don’t know about you but that’s the way to start a week of football. The Miami Dolphins have become one of the most exciting teams in the NFL because of that explosive wildcat offense that the Dolphins introduced to the league last year. If they can just win more games with the wildcat.
As of this writing, both the Miami Dolphins and the Carolina Panthers have an identical 4-5 mark. The Panthers’ 28-19 win over Atlanta last Sunday put them one game behind the Falcons, Packers, Eagles and Giants in the wild card picture, with a game in New York still remaining on their schedule.
The Dolphins BARELY saved themselves from falling to 3-6 after quarterback Chad Henne gave up an interception in the last two minutes of their game against the Buccaneers last Sunday. The Bucs came up with a touchdown, giving them the 23-22 lead with 1:14 to go. Thankfully, Henne didn’t made the same mistake when they got the ball back as…
