Man sues the Chicago White Sox for Shooting Free T-Shirts into the Crowd from a Cannon

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

What?!?

This is when you know the 2009 MLB baseball season has already began putting people to sleep.

Yes, baseball season is here and while most of us are probably going to keep our asses at home playing video games until football season gets here, one dude went his way to sue the Chicago White Sox for, get this, giving away free t-shirts.

If you’re a sports fan living in Chicago then you’ve probably seen team employees firing free t-shirts into the crowd during White Sox or Bulls games, happening between innings at the U.S. Cellular or during timeouts at the United Center.

Barack ObamaIt’s the team’s way of saying thank you. Thank you for spending $150 during these terrible economic times just to be there, not to mention the $7 you burn for each beer and the $5 you throw away for nachos. To show you how much the team appreciates you, they give you the chance to out wrestle those next to you for a flying t-shirt that’s probably not going to fit you anyway.

One man from northwest Indiana doesn’t see it as the team’s way of showing their gratitude to the fans. He sees it as a team engaging in a dangerous activity, shooting free shirts as projectiles into…

It’s the Tampa Bay Rays against the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2008 MLB World Series! Yay!

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

That’s the match-up everybody loves to see.

You read it, everybody was waiting for this match-up in the 2008 MLB World Series next only to the Yankees and the Mets, the Cubs and the White Sox, the Dodgers and the Angels and basically any other match-up between any two teams OTHER than the Rays and the Phillies.

STILL, the Tampa Bay Rays will still play the Philadelphia Phillies in a best-of-seven World Series everybody will probably just sleep through. After all, nobody thought these two teams will get this far but since they have, the rest of the world (other than Tampa Bay and Philadelphia of course…) still have no idea who to root for.

Game 1 of this best-of-seven Philadelphia Philliesseries for all the marbles starts Wednesday in Tampa. Who has the edge? (I know most of you probably won’t care anyway but since this IS a gambling guide, we’re asking ourselves the question…)

The Philadelphia Phillies have lost more games than any franchise in professional sports, while the Tampa Bay Rays never finished higher than fourth place during its last ten seasons. These two clubs haven’t played since June 2006, when Tampa Bay took two of the three regular season games in Philadelphia and yes, we don’t know what to expect now.

The Tampa Bay Rays are a surprising 10-5 overall against the Phillies in interleague play. The Phillies, on the other hand, have experience and power from their bench. Including the playoffs, the Phillies are 86-0 this year when leading after eight innings but the Rays are still the guys who dethroned the…

New York Yankees V Chicago White Sox on Monday

Monday, September 15th, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgThere’s absolutely wrong with you if you prefer to watch this than the huge game between the Cowboys and the Eagles on Monday night.

But in case you are, you must still be one of them remaining Yankees fans hoping that the Bronx bombers will be able to turn it around and finish strong in the 2008 MLB baseball season because quite frankly, watching Oprah Winfrey fart is more entertaining than watching this year’s Yankees screw with each other’s balls on that diamond.

With just over two weeks left in the season, the New York Yankees are still searching for answers on what seems to be a disappointing year for them in the American League East.

The Yankees have a 78-70 New York Yankeeswin-loss slate and if things continue to go downwards, they might not make it in the 2008 MLB baseball playoffs. Wow huh? Despite having one of the more talented (and expensive) rosters in the league, the Yankees just can’t seem to put it together this year.

On Monday night, they do battle with the American League Central leader Chicago White Sox. Unlike the Yankees, these guys have a remarkable 81-65 mark and I won’t be surprised if Chicago slaps the crap out of the Yankees in New York.

Chicago White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper has been juggling his rotation every way he can so that it lines up how the club…

AL Teams likely to make it to the 2008 MLB Playoffs

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgThose guys from the MLB are probably hoping they’ll still get a piece of the viewing audience with football season finally here.

Teams are beginning to make that final push for the playoffs as the 2008 MLB baseball season gets ready for its conclusion. Looking at the teams that might be playing until October, we will try to pick out the best of the lot and hopefully, this’ll earn you a little something on the side to go with what is hopefully a profitable football weekend.

Let’s start with the American League, the Los Angeles Angels from the American League West are considered to be one of the complete teams in the American League.

The Angels have a great pitching corps to go hand-in-hand with an awesome rotation. Their only weakness would probably be their bench and since benches are really only good in this sport for fisticuffs on the diamond, this won’t hurt them that much.

In the Central Division, the Chicago White Sox are looking to dominate. The White Sox have a high powered offense with young players carrying the team this year. Although Chicago is not the only team being carried by young wheels this season.

The Tampa Bay Rays, aside from becoming the absolute Cinderella story of the year, is also a good young team that has…

Ken Griffey Jr. ties Sammy Sosa for 5th on Career List

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgWe have a new home run king people.

And although this entire thing barely added a little excitement to the somewhat boring 2008 MLB baseball season, Ken Griffey Jr. sending that ball flying for the 609th time was still a pretty sight to say the least.

You read it, Ken Griffey Jr., now playing for the Chicago White Sox, blasted home run no. 609 of his career to lead his team past the Seattle Mariners 15-3. It was his first home run for his new team and you can bet your ass White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was glad to made the deal that landed him this guy.

After Ken Griffey Jr. hit home run no.609, the 13-time All-Star goes into a tie with Sammy Sosa for 5th in the all-time list for home runs made in a Ken Griffey Jr. hits home run no.609career. For Griffey, finding himself tied with Sosa has a weird feeling to it. How? Read on.

”It’s weird,” Ken Griffey Jr. said. ”I’ve watched Sammy throughout the years. Tying him, it’s OK, I guess.”

What’s even weirder is the fact that both guys did this home run record thing playing for Chicago. Sammy Sosa did most of his home run records playing for the Chicago Cubs. A few years later, Ken Griffey Jr. ties him while playing for the Chicago White Sox.

Before his homer no.609, Griffey was in a…

American League heats up 2008 MLB Baseball Season

Monday, June 16th, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgBecause with the NBA Finals almost over and with football still a few months away, we won’t have much of a choice but to watch baseball.

He he… Yes, with virtually nothing on TV after the NBA Finals conclude, ya’ll probably won’t have much of a choice but to start watching the ever so exciting, (we use the term ‘exciting’ ever so slightly here…) 2008 MLB baseball season.

On that note, let’s take a quick look on what’s been going on around the diamond lately shall we? Hopefully, we’ll find something else to write about other than Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and a whole lot of steroids syringes.

And of course, like last season, Boston Red Soxeverybody’s still so fixated on the American League compared to the National League. While NBA fans favor the Western conference more than the East, baseball has this one.

Defending champions Boston Red Sox lead the pack from the American League East while the Chicago White Sox and the Los Angeles Angels lead the Central and West divisions respectively.

Boston Red Sox are still coming out strong after winning the MLB World Series last season. They have a 43-28 win-loss record, with a decent 7-3 showing in their last 10 games.

In the Central division, the Chicago White Sox, with a 38-30 win-loss mark…

Texas Rangers humiliate Baltimore Orioles 30-3

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Somebody tell the Orioles they’re not the Ravens.

If it was the Baltimore Ravens playing, I wouldn’t be surprised if they can only come up with three measly points for the rest of the game. If it was the Orioles, I wouldn’t be surprised either, they just suck in the 2007 MLB baseball season.

After all, the Baltimore Orioles are second to worst in the American League East and with a dismal 58-66 record, something tells me these guys won’t be making any mad dash to the finish anytime soon.

baltimore_orioles.jpgBut what’s surprising last Wednesday is the way they lost to an equally dismal Texas Rangers team. I mean, these guys are probably even worse than the Orioles. They have a pathetic 55-70 record in the American League West and is sitting at the very bottom of their own division.

Last Wednesday, these Texans had an incredible game as the Texas Rangers beat the Baltimore Orioles 30-3.

Holy mother of God.

Yep, the Rangers simply destroyed and humiliated the Orioles by scoring…

White Sox take on the Cubs in a battle for Chicago

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

As of press time, both teams from the Windy City are getting the wind knocked out of them.

Yep, both teams are struggling at this point of the 2007 MLB baseball season. The Chicago White Sox are currently the second worst team in the American League Central while the Cubs are also not doing well themselves, hovering below the .500 mark and are about eight games behind NL Central division leaders, Milwaukee Brewers.

The Chicago White Sox will meet the Cubs for a three-game season series starting Friday. The White Sox have lost seven of their last ten games, dropping their last two to the Florida Marlins to lose that three-game affair.

chicago_whitesox.jpgThose back-to-back disappointments dropped the White Sox to a dismal 29-39 mark. They are about 16 games behind AL Central division leaders Cleveland Indians and when you’re behind a team like the Indians THAT much, something is definitely terribly wrong.

As for the Chicago Cubs, they will come in to White Sox country at the U.S. Cellular Field barely holding on to that No.2 spot in the somewhat pathetic NL Central division. They are still more than a few games below the .500 mark but with them being on the same group with teams that, quite frankly, suck as bad as they do, they have an opportunity to get an advantage with a win over…

What will happen on Saturday when Roger Clemens makes his return to the struggling New York Yankees?

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

On Saturday, Yankee fans could very well see ”the Rocket” launch against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The question here is, can the New York Yankees win with Roger Clemens. A few days ago, the Rocket was not throwing… well… rockets. He threw a total of 62 pitches in a pitching workout to prepare for his BIG return in pinstripes. All of his 62 pitches flew without any velocity whatsoever.

Roger Clemens threw 8 practice pitches before throwing 54 to right and left-handed batters at a Yankees spring training complex. Despite the somewhat mediocre practice session, Roger Clemens is STILL optimistic that he’ll be able to get it going once he makes his return to a New York Yankees game. Of course, for the Yankees’ sake, let’s hope for the same.

”Everything today went well,” Clemens said after his workout a few days ago. ”The weakness that came from the scar tissue has so far dispersed. Today’s bullpen session was a little more intense than a regular side session. Normally, I would throw about 60 percent, but today I threw closer to 80 percent.”

New York Yankees general manager Joe Torre believes Roger Clemens WILL play a big part in the Yankees’ campaign this 2007 MLB baseball season. A campaign that has gone from bad to worse.

”The way you can win is to be able to control the game,” Yankees manager Joe Torre said. ”The way to…”

MLB Baseball star Albert Pujols kicked Kurt Angle’s Ass

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

Yep, you read it, St. Louis Cardinals icon Albert Pujols taught TNA Wrestling star Kurt Angle a lesson. IN A STEEL CAGE.

As much as I’d want to see Kurt Angle and Albert Pujols in an interesting steel cage wrestling match, seeing Pujols in wrestling tights is definitely not something I’d look forward to.

Albert Pujols did taught Kurt Angle a lesson inside a steel cage, but it wasn’t a wrestling match. St. Louis Cardinals star Albert Pujols and professional wrestler Kurt Angle took turns slugging balls at spring training inside a cage.

kurt_angle.jpgAngle visited Albert Pujols in the Cardinals camp as part of Team Eckstein, named after World Series MVP David Eckstein, a lifelong wrestling fan. Eckstein played the role of manager for a professional wrestling match in Orlando earlier last February. Angle was working to promote a Total Nonstop Action Wrestling pay-per-view event that will be held in St. Louis on April 15.

”By the time he retires, he’ll be considered one of the best ever. It was an honor him telling me what to do in there. It would be like me getting him in the ring,” Kurt Angle said. ”I really admire these guys because of their work ethic and the way they go all year long.”

For all ya’ll not familiar about…
