Allen Iverson is starting to complain in Memphis

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

We knew this one was coming.

After all kinds of hoopla concerning Iverson’s move from Detroit to Memphis this 2009 NBA basketball season, A.I. Found out that he’s still coming off the bench, the very thing that led to his divorce with the Pitsons.

You read it, Allen Iverson, at least for the first weeks of the season, is still relegated to a bench warmer after refusing to come off the bench last season for Detroit and as far as A.I. is concerned, he ain’t happy.

According to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Allen Iverson voiced out his displeasure with his nonstarting role with the Memphis Grizzlies, saying that he’s ”not a sixth man.” Iverson also said, ”I had no problems [with the hamstring]. I had a problem with my butt sitting on that bench for so long.”

allen_iverson”I’m not a bench player. I’m not a sixth man,” he continued. ”Look at my resume and that’ll show I’m not a sixth man. I don’t think it has anything to do with me being selfish. It’s just who I am. I don’t want to change what gave me all the success that I’ve had since I’ve been in this league. I’m not a sixth man. And that’s that.”

Haven’t we heard that when he was playing for the Detroit Pistons last year?

Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins has made it clear that Iverson is STILL…

Can the Raptors get back on track against the Pistons?

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

And here we thought the Raptors are really gonna be good this year.

After a smashing start to the 2009 NBA basketball season, the Raptors have returned to their usual selves. Yep, after they came up with a huge win over the jacked up Cavaliers in their season opener, they suffered losses to the Grizzlies and the Magic, bringing them back to Earth, wondering if those two losses were the start of yet another cold season in Canada.

The Toronto Raptors kicked off the season in style with a surprising win over a Cleveland Cavaliers team led by LeBron James and the newly acquired Shaquille O’Neal. The Raptors beat that team convincingly, 101-91, making believers out of Canada and probably most of North America.

toronto_raptorsBut losses to the Memphis Grizzlies and the Orlando Magic diffused any momentum they had from their win over the Cavs. They lost in Memphis 115-107 before losing again at home to the Magic, 125-116.

It’s clear that the Raptors need to improve on their defense if they want to beat the visiting Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. Luckily for them, the Pistons are also on a two-game losing skid after winning their season opener at…

Allen Iverson is fucking up the Memphis Grizzlies already

Monday, October 26th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgWow, that didn’t take long.

Sports in Tennessee is really taking a blow these days. While the Titans continue to throw the season away in Nashville, the Grizzlies are about to welcome the 2009 NBA basketball season in complete disarray with their biggest acquisition of the offseason singlehandedly fucking up their campaign even before it gets the chance to officially start.

Ah yes, Allen Iverson is injured again, just like the last time he was in Detroit and his last few days back in Denver, Colorado. After all the promises, the rally speeches and the tweets on Twitter, Iverson is really becoming one pathetic letdown already. And did I mention the season hasn’t even started yet?

allen_iversonThe Memphis Grizzlies reported that Allen Iverson will miss three weeks after an MRI revealed a partial tear in his left hamstring. And if Iverson will miss playing time that long, that means his status for the regular season opener against the Pistons is doubtful.

Surprisingly, Iverson is happy about the whole thing. Probably because that’ll let him earn butt-loads of cash sitting on the bench. Hell, he did the exact same thing with…

Who will come out of the East to win a game more than what the Orlando Magic came up with in the NBA Finals?

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Yeah, this season, it’s the East’s turn to have a champion.

I’m more of an East Coast kind of guy, I always find myself rooting for the East in All-Star Games and in the NBA Finals. Coming to the 2009 NBA basketball season, I have this theory that suggests this year is going to be the year of the East. Don’t believe me? Here’s why.

This somewhat weird theory of mine started in ‘04 when the Detroit Pistons won the title and shocked arguably the most talented Los Angeles Lakers team ever assembled with Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant joined then by two other Hall of Famers, Karl Malone and Gary Payton. The Spurs won the title the following year only for the Eastern Conference to win it again when the Miami Heat won their first title in franchise history.

orlando_magicThe following year, ONCE AGAIN (ho-hum…) the Spurs took it only for the East to take it back the following season when the Boston Celtics took the title in six games. In case you haven’t noticed it yet, the NBA championship has been alternating between the Eastern and Western conferences since ‘04 and since the Lakers won it last season, I bet it’ll be another team from the East that’ll be crowned champions come June.

Silly? Not quite. And since the Cleveland Cavaliers arguably made the biggest move of the offseason with the NBA title firmly in mind, this little theory of mine doesn’t sound too silly at all.

The Cavs learned winning 66 games in the regular season doesn’t…

LA Clippers want to try Allen Iverson Experiment

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

Because at this point, things can’t get any worse.

For years, the Los Angeles Clippers have underachieved while their city rivals have done the exact opposite. Take last season for instance, the Lakers went on to become the NBA champions. The Clippers? They spent most of the year at the bottom of the ladder.

With the coming 2009 NBA basketball season still a couple of months away, the idea of starting over gives the Clippers new hope. And since they’ve been one of the worst teams in the league for years, things Allen Iversoncouldn’t possibly turn for the worse with whatever these guys decide to do at this point.

That’s probably why they’re contemplating on signing disgruntled NBA star Allen Iverson.

Yes, you read it, the Clippers are leaning towards having the former NBA scoring champion despite the guy’s poor track record since leaving Philadelphia. In case you didn’t know, things didn’t bode well when he was with the Denver Nuggets and it turned from bad to worse when he got traded to the Detroit Pistons.

Despite that, teams still wanted to have the guy.

The Memphis Grizzlies, the Charlotte Bobcats and the Miami Heat have all been pursuing Iverson since A.I. became a free agent.

But why would the Clippers want Iverson? I mean, they already have Baron Davis in Iverson’s spot on the court PLUS this young stud named Eric Gordon. Why in the hell would this organization jeopardize what they have going in signing a guy as volatile as Iverson?

Come to think of it, I can…

Rasheed Wallace will play for the Boston Celtics

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Madre de Dios, this offseason just keeps getting better and better.

Everybody should be hyped up for the coming 2009 NBA basketball season now as early as July with the number of blockbuster deals we’ve seen.

Get this; Richard Jefferson is now in San Antonio, Shaquille O’Neal will now play with LeBron James in Cleveland, Vince Carter returns to his home state in Florida to play for the Orlando Magic and Ron Artest just joined the defending NBA champions Los Angeles Lakers. And just when you thought it won’t get any better, another deal comes out.

And the latest is Rasheed Wallace agreeing to play for the Boston Celtics for at least two seasons. Boston CelticsAlthough nothing is final yet since free agents can’t officially sign with new teams until July 8 this Wednesday, ‘Sheed has committed his 34-year-old ass to Boston, grabbing this opportunity to play for a legitimate title contender now than waste the remaining few years of his career with the inept management skills of Joe Dumars in Detroit.

The Boston Celtics wanted him bad too. A contingent from the Celtics organization, including owner Wyc Grousbeck, president Danny Ainge, head coach Doc Rivers and Boston’s ”Big Three” of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen all descended on Wallace’s suburban Michigan home for a three-hour meeting with the free-agent forward.

During the course of the meeting, the Boston Celtics…
