The seeds are in and just like every other Grand Slam tournament, we’re rooting for Maria Sharapova to avoid yet another early round exit.
That’s right, the seeds for the 2010 U.S. Open are in and Caroline Wozniacki will quickly get to prove whether she’s a deserving top seed or whether she’s Dinara Safina 2.0.
You see, the 20-year-old had the misfortune of seeing the name of a certain Maria Sharapova drawn to the top half of her quarter, setting up a possible fourth-round matchup and she knows that the entire male population, except maybe for her dad, will be rooting against her.
On the bottom, Li Na and 2004 champion
Svetlana Kuznetsova are scheduled for a fourth-rounder of their own.
The bottom half of the left side is wide open for Jelena Jankovic. For what is anyone’s guess. No. 15-seed Yanina Wickmayer has been mired in a slump this summer, but a return to the semis at Flushing Meadows isn’t out of the question.
Wimbledon finalist Vera Zvonareva is perched at the bottom of the quarter and a potential crying jag in the form of young American Coco Vandeweghe sits in round two.
Melanie Oudin couldn’t have asked for a better draw. The struggling teen gets a qualifier in round one and then another winnable match against either a qualifier or No. 117 Sophie Ferguson in the second.
This is the most wide open of the quarters, which has to…

It’s back to the tennis courts.
The 2010 Australian Open promises to deliver all the action and excitement of Grand Slam tennis starting on January 18th before concluding with the finals on January 31st at the Melbourne Tennis Stadium in Flinders Park.
There are four major international Grand Slam tournaments held each year; the Australian Tennis Open, the French Tennis Open in Paris, Wimbledon in London and the US Tennis Open in New York. With the often extreme summer temperatures of Australia, the Australian Tennis Open is regarded as one of the most physically demanding for players.
The Australian Open is important in many ways, not least of which is because it is the first Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year. And all eyes will be on French phenom Rafael Nadal as he attempts to defend the very title he won here last year.
Another guy to look out for at the 2010 Australian Open is of course, Roger Federer, who will be looking to put his 2009 breakdown behind him. He will need to win in Melbourne if he wishes reassert his supremacy in men’s singles tennis.
Other notable players to watch out for include Novak Djokovic. After finishing last season with the Masters Cup title under his belt, Djokovic will come in the Australian Open brimming with confidence.
We also have Andy Murray, easily the most improved player of the season. He will be looking to prove that he’s capable of Grand Slam greatness as he comes in Melbourne looking for greater things.
On the women’s side, Serena Williams will enter the tournament as…

Because that’s where the last Grand Slam of the tennis calendar will be played and unfortunately, Serena Williams is on it.
Unfortunate for tennis fans like me who’d rather watch those little skirts Maria Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic will probably wear in the 2009 U.S. Open than another ass whooping we’ll probably see on some poor sap personally delivered by Serena Williams who has bigger arms than me.
And since Serena Williams is the defending champion of the U.S. Open, not to mention the fact that she’s still fresh from her huge win at Wimbledon, the younger Williams sister will definitely be the woman to beat.
Serena has this tendency to make her opponents look decidedly ordinary with her speed and strength, unless of course she’s playing against the hot and sexy Maria Sharapova who’ll probably make Serena look like a freaking gorilla compared to Sharapova’s long legs, smooth skin, perfect ass and those tight little skirts that give her one sweet looking camel t…
ANYWAY, Serena is the current holder of the U.S. Open singles title and her odds should shorten as summer tournaments heat up. She’s the best athlete on the women’s tour and she has a slight, but significant, age advantage on her older sister Venus Williams. It’s hard to imagine Serena not at least making the semis of the U.S. Open and despite being ranked no.2 in the world, she should be the odds-on favorite.
Then we have Dinara Safina. It is hard to find a serious…

Unfortunately for some of us, there won’t be skimpy skirts to stare at. Just a tennis match between two women who have bigger arms than me.
In case you didn’t get that, Venus and Serena Williams will once again play for a grand slam tennis title as the Williams sisters meet in the 2009 Wimbledon Championships final this Saturday.
Last year, the Williams sisters faced off in the Wimbledon final for the third time overall and the first time since 2003, as Venus Williams scored her first Wimbledon final win over Serena Williams to claim her fifth Wimbledon singles title.
As expected, this year’s Wimbledon futures odds have the Williams sisters as the top two favorites to win, but before the two punched their ticket to the championship game, there were several players in the draw that could’ve prevented a Williams’ sister from winning Wimbledon for the eighth time in 10 years.
One of which is Dinara Safina. Safina was seeded no.1 this year, but thanks to one of the fastest semifinal matches in Wimbledon history, the no.1 seed took an abrupt exit after Venus Williams needed only 51 minutes towards a 6-1, 6-0 win.
There’s something about Wimbledon that always brings…

Yes, they’re still around.
With the hot and sexy Maria Sharapova out followed by Ana Ivanovic tapping out of center court because of an injury, having the Williams sisters STILL around is really one big swift kick to the balls.
In case you didn’t get that, I don’t really expect you to. What I know is that the two huge reasons why the male population watch tennis is now long gone and there isn’t really nothing to look forward to in the 2009 Wimbledon Championships anymore but for it to be over, and soon.
For the rest of you, well, both Venus and Serena Williams are still around, each hoping for a possible Williams sisters face-off in the semifinals. Of course, they have to get rid of their respective quarterfinals matches first.
First, Serena. The younger Williams will look for revenge as she faces off with the same beyatch who kicked her ass in the final of last April’s Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, Victoria Azarenka. Serena knows that Azarenka is a good player and if there was one player with everything to lose, it would have to be her.
”She’s obviously a good player, and she’s really young,” said Serena Williams, a winner in 56 minutes over another hottie, Daniela Hantuchova in Monday’s fourth round. ”She has nothing to lose. It will be a really good match.”
Older sister Venus Williams, on the other hand, was…

Apparently, that’s the latest controversy surrounding the latest grand slam tournament in tennis lately.
In case you didn’t know, the 2009 Wimbledon Championships are finally here as the top male and female tennis players in the world gather at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to play for the third grand slam title of the season.
And as far as the latest controversy about the simulation of sex, one former Wimbledon champion, Michael Stich, is claiming that today’s female tennis players like the hot and sexy Maria Sharapova and the equally hot Maria Kirilenko are just trying to sell sex on the tennis courts.
It turns out that this Michael Stich is annoyed by the way some of the top female tennis players in the game ”grunts” whenever they hit the ball. He attacked the noises these players make on the court by suggesting to ”just play it back to the women. It sounds disgusting, ugly, unsexy!”
He added by saying that, ”they want to look good, they pay attention to their looks and everything.”
Three of the top female tennis players of all time; Monica Seles, Serena Williams…

After finally winning his very first French Open title a few weeks ago, you bet your ass he is.
Fresh off his first French Open title, Roger Federer considers himself the man to beat at the 2009 Wimbledon championships. This year’s Wimbledon will be held from June 22 to July 5, 2009 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club as always.
And as far as Roger Federer is concerned, he says he’s looking forward to trying to claim a sixth championship. ”I do think I’m the favorite, actually, with all the success I’ve had,” Federer said.
A little cocky but judging by the way he’s been dominating the past Wimbledon tournaments, he has every reason to be. Sure, his run of five consecutive Wimbledon titles ended with a five-set loss to Rafael Nadal in last year’s final but the guy is still the winner of five of the last six Wimbledon tournaments, and betting against him will still be a very bad idea.
Federer said his back feels OK. He took a six-week break this year because it was bothering him. As for his game, Federer figures he can keep improving, particularly on grass and hard courts, ”when I can go for my shots more.”
We thought Rafael Nadal would be ready for this…

Yes, Rafael Nadal’s dominance on clay finally ended. And it was shocking to say the least.
Rafael Nadal’s elimination in the 2009 French Open at Roland Garros happened last weekend when one Robin Soderling just became the guy who did the impossible, beat Nadal on clay.
The world’s No.1 Rafael Nadal lost to Robin Sunderling, 6-2, 6-7 (2), 6-4, 7-6 (2) and was stopped unceremoniously from his quest of a fifth straight French Open title.
The 23rd seed Robin Sunderling probably now
has his name known in Spain, where some will probably hate his guts while some will probably even become his fans. Emilio Sanchez Vicario, who captained the Spain’s Davis Cup team to victory over Argentina last year, is one of them.
”Soderling played very well, and that is tennis sometimes,” Sunderling said. ”In tennis there are times when one player gets into the game and the other player can’t find his rhythm. When Nadal went so far behind in the second tiebreak there was no way back.”
”I think he had been having problems with the length of his shots all week and he suffered for this,” he said. ”He couldn’t get back into it. I don’t think it was down to tiredness. He’d won a lot of games recently and was quite fresh.”
Despite the disappointing loss, the Spanish media is…

She’s back.
In case you didn’t notice, the hot and sexy Maria Sharapova returned to the Grand Slam stage on Court 1 at the French Open last Monday. Unfortunately, it didn’t feel like she was back to her lofty standards, as one might expect after shoulder surgery in October and only four singles matches in the past 10 months.
The 64th-ranked Anastasiya Yakimova of Belarus is not the sort of opponent who would normally trouble a Maria Sharapova at the top of her game, but since the sexy Russian ain’t there just yet, there was trouble as early as Day 1 of the 2009 French Open at Roland Garros.
Thankfully, Maria Sharapova’s first match at a major tournament in nearly a year ended with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory over Yakimova. However, it will take more than that performance for Sharapova to erase the uncertainty that comes with such a long layoff.
”This is the first time in my career where I can really say I don’t have any expectations,” three-time major champion Maria Sharapova said. ”I don’t know how things are going to work out. I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow, how my shoulder is going to feel.”
Because of her time away, Sharapova is ranked…

And I’ve got to tell you, I was more than relieved seeing her go through.
A shaky start. That is exactly how one can describe the way the defending French Open champion, Ana Ivanovic kicked off the 2009 French Open at Roland Garros.
You read it, Ana Ivanovic struggled on the important points in her opening match against Italian Sara Errani before eventually winning the match, 7-6 (3), 6-3 to advance to the second round.
The defending Serbian champion, seeded no.8, converted only five of the 20 break points she earned against Sara Errani. The Italian broke three times and even served for the first set at 5-4.
”I knew I had to work hard for my points today, and I’m very happy I did that,” Ana Ivanovic said after the match. ”And I kept my composure.”
Ivanovic’s right knee may have something to do with the way she struggled in Day 1 of the clay tournament. She pulled out of the Madrid Open with the right knee injury and had it taped last Sunday when she took on Sara Errani of Italy.
Errani did a good job taking advantage of Ivanovic’s injury as she got the defending champion move around the clay surface. Ivanovic finished the match with seven double-faults and six aces. Despite the injury, Ivanovic claims she feels very fit and very ready to defend her title at…
