Which football teams playing in the 2008 English Premier League are dealing with injuries?

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

As if we care. For those of you who do, read on.

Many football teams playing in the 2008 English Premier League are dealing with injuries. Chelsea is at the top of the standings with their unbeaten start but they are already missing a number of their key players.

In their Champions League match with FCR Cluj, Chelsea was without Joe Cole, Deco, Ricardo Carvalho and Ashley Cole. What’s even worse is that they lost Didier Drogba to a knee injury in that match and he could be out of a while. John Terry and Alex were also hurt in that match.

”I need to think for the game on Sunday,” Cristiano Ronaldosaid manager Luiz Felipe Scolari. ”I have a few days to build the team again. I don’t know now what the possibilities I have for Sunday are.”

The injuries really could cause Chelsea to fall out of first place.

”If Didier is out for a while, we will have to pitch in with goals from all around the team, which we can do, though the situation is not ideal,” said midfielder Frank Lampard. ”The experience is not really there, but I believe the quality is.”

Sunderland, on the other hand, is still without striker Kenwyne Jones.

”Kenwyne’s making good progress,” Sunderland manager Roy Keane said. ”The surgeon is delighted with the way it is going. He’s working extremely hard to get back and is showing…”

Chelsea FC will not sign Kaka but will re-sign goalie Petr Cech for the 2008 English Premier League Season

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

To me, that’s a very dumb move on their part.

For two straight seasons, we all saw Man-U literally snatch the Premiership away from Chelsea FC. And now that it seems the defending English football champions are on the verge of losing their biggest star, Cristiano Ronaldo, Chelsea has the opportunity of making it easier for them to win the title again by pursuing Kaka for the coming 2008-09 English Premier League season.

Instead, Chelsea FC decided not to pursue the 2007 FIFA World Player of the Year but instead, re-signs longtime goalkeeper Petr Cech to a new five-year contract. That will keep him with the Blues until 2013. That probably means we won’t see Chelsea winning the Premiership until 2013 too.

”I am very happy to have renewed my contract with them,” Petr Cech said. ”Chelsea has grown in my heart, not just because of my teammates and all the people that work for the club, but also because of their fantastic fans.”

Cech is thought of as one of the world’s top goalkeepers. He has led Chelsea to two straight Premier League titles in previous seasons and last year led them to a runner-up finish in the soccer betting Premier League, Champions…

Jose Mourinho, Frank Lampard to reunite in Inter Milan?

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYes, to the loving soccer fans outside the United States, that’s almost as big as a ”dream” reunification between Shaq and Kobe.

While the battle rages on at the 2008 UEFA European Football Championships, big news started brewing at the San Siro. For all ya’ll who have no idea what that is, it’s home to the football team Inter Milan and now that former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is running things there, news like this one wasn’t that surprising at all.

His first big move as new manager of Inter Milan? Lure Chelsea FC striker Frank Lampard to the team. While Lampard has showed no intentions of joining his former coach in his new club the last few weeks, his people is showing some positive signs now that the Chelsea FC striker just might make the move after all.

”At the moment I’ve been on holiday for about a week,” Franco Granello said, the agent of current Chelsea striker Frank Lampard. ”But it doesn’t seem to me that Lampard’s transfer has already been completed.”

”I have a meeting with Inter in 10 days but for now I’m enjoying the rest, seeing as I have so little.”

This ”Frank Lampard saga” is the only thing going for English football since they have no impact whatsoever with the ongoing Euro 2008 tournament. Lampard said…

Who’ll win the 2008 UEFA Champions League Final?

Friday, May 16th, 2008

Which English team is better? The ones dressed in red or the other ones dressed in blue?

Yes people, the 2008 UEFA Champions League final is on this Wednesday, May 21 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia where two huge football teams from England will collide, Manchester United and Chelsea.

This championship game to culminate the 2008 UEFA Champions League makes it an all-English club final for the first time in Champions League history. This is only the third time that two clubs from the same country have contested in the same Champions League final, the others being the 2000 and 2003 finals.

Frank LampardSo how did these two teams got here anyway?

For the Manchester United Red Devils, they were drawn in Group F along with Roma, Sporting and Dynamo Kyiv. Manchester United won their first five group matches before securing a 1-1 draw against Roma.

In the first knockout round, Manchester United was drawn against Olympique Lyonnais, against whom they drew the away leg 1-1, thanks to a late equalizer from Carlos Tevez. The Red Devils then won the second leg 1-0, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the only goal, to ensure a 2-1 aggregate win and a…

Can Frank Lampard help Chelsea FC qualify for the last 16 of the 2007-08 UEFA Champions League?

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

It’s Chelsea FC and Schalke at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen.

If Chelsea wins this, they will be able to qualify for the last 16 of the 2007-08 UEFA Champions League. There’s only one slight problem though, Chelsea star Frank Lampard is just terrified of this place.

The last time Lampard was here, he missed his spot-kick as England crashed out of their 2006 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal shootout with Portugal after a goalless draw. Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard all came up with nothing that day too.

Frank Lampard returns to the scene this Tuesday night and this time, Frank Lampardhe has the chance to send Chelsea FC to the last 16 with a win over Schalke. For his sake, let’s hope he doesn’t come up with blanks this time.

For what it’s worth, Chelsea FC manager Avram Grant believes his star has already put his penalty miss nightmare from the World Cup behind him. But then again, this is probably wishful thinking for now until this one ends with the Blues celebrating.

”Frank has a strong character, as everybody knows. I have full confidence in him,” Chelsea FC manager Avram Grant said.

”He also missed a penalty for Chelsea this season and then scored one against…”

Chelsea Boss Jose Mourinho is scared SHITLESS of their 2007-08 UEFA Champions League Campaign

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

For Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, this could be the most important Champions League campaign of his career with the Blues.

Yep, the 2007-08 UEFA Champions League is here and Chelsea FC will be hosting Rosenborg at Stamford Bridge for their Group B opener to kick off their Champions League campaign. You just know Jose Mourinho is feeling more than just butterflies in his stomach now.

Yeah sure, Chelsea FC are the heavy favorites to just bitch-slap Rosenborg for this Tuesday’s fixture but what’s scary for the Blues is how will the rest of their 2007-08 UEFA Champions League campaign look without injured stars Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard.

Didier DrogbaDidier Drogba and Frank Lampard are just huge elements to the Chelsea offense. Heck, this duo is responsible for Chelsea’s 50 goals last season. Rosenborg on Tuesday should be easy, yes, but what will happen if the Blues face powerhouse teams like AC Milan or Liverpool for crying out loud without these two?

Chelsea FC boss Jose Mourinho has his own take on what’s it like without Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard. You’ll never guess what’s his…

Can Wayne Rooney, David Beckham and Frank Lampard play for England in Euro 2008 Qualifiers?

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Right know, all three guys are down and out.

Surprisingly though, despite the fact that Wayne Rooney, David Beckham and Frank Lampard are not playing for England in the Euro 2008 qualifiers, the England team is doing just fine behind their less-heralded replacements, lifting the team up to 3-0 consecutive wins.

So what does this mean for England’s power trio? Will England coach Steve McLaren realize that they don’t need these three huge egos after all to conquer the Euro 2008 qualifiers? If that’s the case, then all of these egomaniacs thinking they’re God’s gift to England football should worry.

With his star players missing, England head coach Steve McClaren ignored more predictable replacements and brought in more virtual unknowns like Gareth Barry, Emile Heskey and Shaun Wright-Phillips.

He was rewarded by consecutive wins at Wembley that revived England’s chances of reaching next year’s tournament, and his chances of keeping his job.

McLaren tried to combine all of his powerhouse players into the England contingent and failed to win games, miserably. Now that some of them are gone, McLaren came up with what appears to be a stronger team that wins games in…

An Israeli wants to Hump Steven Gerrard of Liverpool FC

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

seth-edward-oneal.jpgWell, maybe not but apparently, this dude likes Gerrard so much, the only thing left to do for him is just marry the guy in Israel or something.

Yep, Steven Gerrard, captain of the English football giants, Liverpool FC, has a fan and that fan is Israel football team captain Yossi Benayoun. It turns out that the Israeli captain is such a huge fan of Steven Gerrard that he can’t seem to have anything to talk about BUT Steven Gerrard.

”I think Steven Gerrard is the best midfielder in the world, so it is very important for England that he will play,” Yossi Benayoun said.

For all ya’ll who didn’t know, Steven Gerrard is currently nursing a broken toe. With Liverpool FC big boss Rafael Benitez already placing Gerrard in the shelf to rest and heal, the possibility of England coach Steve McLaren overruling the Liverpool boss and have him playing for the Euro 2008 qualifiers is definitely interesting.

Yossi Benayoun is Gerrard’s teammate in Liverpool and he knows how big a factor Gerrard is for England. ”I have been at Liverpool for two months, and from what I know of him, he will do everything to play for England,” Benayoun said.

Steve McClaren may have seen his…

Frank Lampard turns his back on Chelsea money

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

Uh oh…

Yep, Frank Lampard could very well be on his way out of Chelsea FC. Why? How? When? Well, he just turned down a massive contract from the club. A contract so massive that it would’ve make him the highest paid Blues striker at Stamford Bridge.

The Englishman rejected a multi-million pound deal with Chelsea FC, much to the dismay of Chelsea fans hoping to get the English Premiership title back from the Red Devils of Manchester United.

The rumors say that the frank_lampard1.jpgcontract Chelsea FC offered to the 28-year-old Frank Lampard eclipsed the £121,000-a-week contracts given to Andriy Shevchenko and Michael Ballack and would have made him the highest earner in the club’s history.

What does that mean? Does it mean we’ll see Frank Lampard take his No.8 jersey somewhere else? Will we see Lampard join Barcelona FC too? Apparently, these international football stars seem to favor going to Barca these days after signing their biggest name to date, Thierry Henry.

If Frank Lampard do go to Barcelona, he’ll join…

Will Frank Lampard stay with Chelsea FC?

Friday, June 15th, 2007

seth-edward-oneal.jpgWell, apparently, Frank Lampard is giving out some hints that he will stay with the Blues.

With only a couple of years left in Frank Lampard’s contract with Chelsea FC, the talented midfielder has hinted that he is ready to remain with Jose Mourinho (provided he gets to keep his job…) and his Chelsea teammates.

Frank Lampard, after a disappointing 2007 English Premiership season that saw Manchester United dethrone them from the top of the English football food chain, wants to remain with the Blues hoping they can reclaim the EPL title back from the Red Devils.

Of course, doing that is easier frank_lampard.jpgsaid than done with two young football players, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, STILL leading Man-U towards the future. And with both guys still ahead of their prime, years of dominance for the heroes of Old Trafford is definitely a certainty.

Despite that, Frank Lampard STILL believes that the coming 2007-08 English Premiere League season will tell a different story and he is ready to be a part of it. Frank Lampard has two years left of his current deal and negotiations over a new deal are ongoing.

There has been speculation that the former West-Ham star may opt to…
