The Top NFL QBs in Fantasy Football

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

seth-edward-oneal.jpgOh yes, fantasy football returns.

Just in case you’re wondering who to grab for your fantasy football teams once the 2010 NFL football season arrives, we’re giving you the lowdown on who to draft, beginning with arguably the most important player of your team, the quarterbacks.

Let’s begin with Dallas Cowboys’ Tomy Romo. Look for Romo to go back over 30 touchdowns this season as he has more talent with Dez Bryant and Kevin Ogletree showing promise. Romo should have a more consistent fantasy season with so much talent around him. Now, we need to see if the offensive line can keep him healthy as they will have a new left tackle this season.

Next we have Matt Schaub of the Houston Texans. The Texans’ defense is going to be shaky in the secondary as they lost top corner back Dunta Robinson in free agency and linebacker Brian Cushing is out the first month because of suspension. As the Texans give up the points on defense, their offense will have to score into the 30s to win football games. At the center of this output is Schaub, as he has a good group of pass catchers to throw the football too. Look for Schaub to have another strong season as long as he’s not on the sidelines with an injury.

Of course, Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts has to be a valuable fantasy football asset as well. Look for Manning to have another fabulous season as Anthony Gonzalez is returning to give “The Sheriff” another gun in his holster. With so many weapons to throw at, the Colts individual receivers could suffer in numbers because the football gets spread around. While that may not be good for them, it is very good for Manning as he can use all his weapons to find more mismatches in the defense and take advantage.

Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers has become quite a steal…

Brett Favre is still not telling if he’ll come back or not

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Well, what do you expect?

With still more than a few months left before we get to see what the 2010 NFL football season has in store for us, Brett Favre ain’t budging yet when asked on what exactly are his plans for his imminent future in the NFL.

You see, Brett Favre said that he still hasn’t decided yet on whether he’ll play again next season, and doesn’t expect to make an announcement anytime soon. Well, we can’t say we haven’t heard something like this from him before.

Appearing on NBC’s ”The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” Favre, who played for the Minnesota Vikings last season, politely balked when host Jay Leno asked for his thoughts on returning for the 2010 season.

”Well Jay, it’s only been a month, and I know now that I’m just not going to say anything anytime soon, just going to kind of sit back, relax, enjoy the offseason,” Brett Favre said in his first public appearance since the Minnesota Vikings lost in the NFC championship game at New Orleans back in January 24.

The pride of Kiln, Miss., Favre is the NFL’s career leader in nearly every major passing category. Hell, the guy’s a three-time league MVP too. The former star quarterback of the Green Bay Packers had one of his best seasons ever after doing what was once unfathomable, playing for Green Bay’s rivals, the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings were rewarded with 33 touchdowns and the lowest…

Will Brett Favre come back or retire? BetUS has the odds

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Of course they do, just like any other sportsbook in the country putting us through the now annual tradition of the ”Favre watch.”

Football fans from Minnesota and probably some from New York and Green Bay, are all wondering if Brett Favre will give it another go for the coming 2010 NFL football season or just retire. (Yep, we did the exact same thing last year, and the year before that…)

Performing in stellar fashion all season, Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings looked primed, even destined for a Super Bowl win. But, as has happened in the past, Flingin’ Favre sent another pass into the defense’s arms to end what had all the earmarks of a magical Super Bowl run.

While his season is over, Favre’s offseason and the debate and speculation regarding ‘will he’ or ‘won’t he’ retire has just begun. But as far as the Minnesota Vikings are concerned, they don’t want to make the same mistake the Packers did a few years ago. You know, like giving him a deadline on coming up with a decision if he wants to come back or not.

You read it, Vikings coach Brad Childress, the same guy who feuded with Favre a bit when the Vikings started losing some games in the regular season, claims he doesn’t have a deadline for Favre’s decision unlike what the Packers did when they ”crowned” Aaron Rodgers as their new starting quarterback, sending Favre then to New York.

Childress doesn’t mind preparing for both scenarios, that is…

Cardinals take on the Saints in the 2010 NFL Playoffs

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

seth-edward-oneal.jpgCan the Saints get back to form in time for the visiting Cardinals?

The New Orleans Saints missed out on perfection when they lost to the then struggling Dallas Cowboys. Then shockingly, they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers too in a game the Saints could’ve won if it wasn’t for Saints kicker Garrett Hartley missing a very makeable 37-yard field goal attempt.

But after they lost for the third straight time, this time losing to the Carolina Panthers big, 23-10, it’s clear that the Saints have a lot of fixing to do coming to their first game in the 2010 NFL playoffs against the red-hot Arizona Cardinals.

Heck, after watching the Arizona Cardinals put up 51 points to beat the Green Bay Packers last week, it’s clear that the Cardinals are clicking at just the right time.

Thanks to their ageless leader Kurt Warner who have put up a whopping five touchdowns in their 51-45 win over the Packers in overtime, the Cardinals qualified for this NFC divisional playoff game against New Orleans. And with the way the Saints have been playing lately, it seems everything has been set to motion for Arizona to defend that NFC title in the NFC championship game.

The Saints need to have a great game from Drew Brees if they want to deny the Cardinals a return trip to the NFC title game. He led the NFC in completion this year with 70.6 markers, 292.5 passing yards per game and a 109.6 passer rating. However, in their three-game losing streak to finish the season, Brees only had a couple of touchdowns and an interception, a far cry from the numbers he has been putting up early in the season.

If the Saints want to advance to the NFC championship game…

Packers and Cardinals face-off in the 2010 NFL Playoffs

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

The defending NFC champions are hoping that they can put up more than just seven points this time around.

In the final wild card game of the 2010 NFL playoffs, the Arizona Cardinals play the Green Bay Packers for the second straight week after the Pack’ blew them away last Sunday following a 33-7 loss at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Yup, defending NFC champions Arizona Cardinals and their high flying offense were neutralized as the Green Bay Packers held them scoreless for three quarters. Arizona’s only score was in the final three minutes of what was already a lost ball game as Green Bay was already in command, 33-0.

Thanks to yet another efficient day from quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Rod Woodson’s career-high ninth interception of the season, one of three picks on the day by the Green Bay Packers last Sunday against Arizona, Green Bay rolled to a 33-7 victory.

Rodgers quietly put together an impressive season despite early season sack woes. He finished with a passer rating of over 100 percent and averaged 8.2 yards per attempt. Running back Ryan Grant also rebounded with a decent season, though Green Bay averaged just 4.3 yards per carry.

The Packers will have to maintain that balance against…

Can Ravens beat the Packers on Monday Night Football?

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Why are we asking? Because the last few trips the Ravens made to the NFC North, they haven’t been good ones.

The Baltimore Ravens have struggled when facing teams from the NFC North, especially playing against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. And since that’s where these Ravens are going to be this Sunday when we conclude Week 13 of the 2009 NFL football season, the Ravens know exactly what they have to deal with at Lambeau.

”You know what comes with Lambeau Field,” Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis said. ”You know the history behind it.” However, it seems the Ravens have had their problems with other NFC North stadiums as well. In the 14 years that the Ravens have been in the NFL, they have never EVER won in Green Bay, Chicago, Minnesota or Detroit, losing all of the six games the Ravens have played in those stadiums.

ray_lewisAnd since they have a young Aaron Rodgers who just went for three touchdowns and 348 yards to lead the Green Bay Packers pound the Lions last week on Thanksgiving, I’m definitely not liking the Ravens’ chances this Monday.

To say that the Baltimore Ravens hate playing in the NFC North could be an understatement.

You see, the Ravens have always been humiliated every single time they make the trip north. They lost to the Lions in a penalty-filled game once. They also let then Bears running back James Allen look like Walter Payton the way he ran the ball against the Ravens defense. They let then Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre rip them apart in Green Bay after a…

2009 NFL Football Season Week 13 Betting Picks

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

This week, we’ll go across the border, in Canada.

Because Week 13 of the 2009 NFL football season will kick off in Toronto where the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills will renew their AFC East rivalry on Thursday Night Football.

That’s right, the Buffalo Bills, trying to reach out to fans across Lake Ontario, is scheduled to play a total of five contests in Toronto, one per season through 2012. Unfortunately, the experiment did not begin well last year, with many in attendance supporting the opposing team in the Bills’ 16-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins on December 7.

On the verge of four straight losing seasons with a 3-7 mark, the Bills gave their home fans reason to smile with a 31-14 win over Miami last Sunday.

terrell_owensAfter averaging 12.3 points in the previous eight games, Buffalo broke out with 24 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, including a 51-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Terrell Owens, the second time the duo hooked up for a lengthy score in the last two weeks.

As far as the New York Jets are concerned, rookie Mark Sanchez will look to bounce back on Thursday as he has continued to struggle, tossing only two touchdowns against seven interceptions in the last three games. Sanchez was 13 of 17 for 154 yards and just one interception Sunday, enabling the defense to carry the Jets to a 17-6 victory over Carolina to snap a three-game losing streak.

Will that be enough to beat the Bills? We’re giving…

Betting on Week 12 of the NFL Season on Thanksgiving?

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Don’t worry, we got you covered.

Yes, it’s Thanksgiving and since it’s customary for the NFL to bombard you with not one, not two, but THREE games for you to enjoy while you stuff yer mouth with that turkey, we’re gonna tell you which team to bet on as we kick off Week 12 of the 2009 NFL football season.

And in case you’re wondering, the Detroit Lions will once again host a Thanksgiving Day game. Go figure. This year, the 2-8 Lions take on the 6-4 Green Bay Packers and just like the last time the Lions hosted a Thanksgiving Day game, they’re going to get their asses kicked all over Ford Field for the entire world to see.

new_york_giantsThe Green Bay Packers, who have won their last two games, will have to compensate for the losses of the two Pro Bowl players; cornerback Al Harris and linebacker Aaron Kampman, as both players will miss the rest of the season because of knee injuries.

The Packers will plug in either rookie Brad Jones or Brady Poppinga to replace Kampman at left outside linebacker in their 3-4 scheme. Jones started for Kampman, who…

2009 NFL Football Season Week 10 Betting Picks

Friday, November 13th, 2009

It’s Week 10 people.

You read it, Week 10 of the 2009 NFL football season continues this Sunday with a huge lineup of games that will surely make or break one’s weekend. (Depending on who ya’ll are betting on of course…)

And while we all go ga-ga over the Pats – Colts matchup this Sunday night, there are still some huge games on this Sunday’s schedule that you shouldn’t dare miss. And since teams are starting to make that one last gasp for a playoff spot, we can expect some very very competitive games starting this Sunday all the way to the Super Bowl.

We’ll start off with this matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. The Packers will look to bounce back from a disappointing loss to the once winlesstom_brady Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Packers have dropped their last two games, sending them to a 4-4 mark. They desperately need a win when the Cowboys visit them at Lambeau.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sacked six times for the second consecutive game last Sunday against the Bucs. Rodgers has absorbed a league-worst 37 sacks this year. Perhaps what’s even more unsettling is the way they virtually gave the game away to Tapa Bay.

Green Bay allowed a blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown and gave up an 83-yard kickoff return to Clifton Smith to set up the first of Tampa Bay’s three touchdowns in its fourth-quarter comeback. This is after the Packers surrendered…

2009 NFL Football Season Week 8 Betting Picks

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

For the second time this season, all eyes will be on Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers.

Yep, Brett Favre will be playing the Green Bay Packers this Sunday as Week 8 of the 2009 NFL football season continues. This time though, it’ll be a little different as he returns to Lambeau Field wearing enemy colors.

That’s right, Brett Favre will be back at historic Lambeau Field when he leads his Minnesota Vikings against the Green Bay Packers. This will be his first trip back at Lambeau since the Packers ended the Brett Favre saga in Green Bay when they sent him packing to New York city a year ago.

brett_favreHis return should be an interesting one since we all know how much fans at Lambeau loved Brett Favre when the guy was still playing for the Green Bay Packers. Will they still cheer for Favre who’ll be wearing the colors of their bitter rivals from Minnesota?

They should. After all, Brett Favre did spent 16 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, tearing it up at Lambeau Field when he still was building on what is now a Hall of Fame career…
