Michael Schumacher ALMOST pulled off a fast one

Friday, May 21st, 2010

seth-edward-oneal.jpgIn case you didn’t know, the most grandiose event in Formula One was held last weekend.

Yes, the 2010 F1 season finally visited Monaco and as always, it was a spectacle. Red Bull’s Mark Webber became the first Australian for quite a while to win the Monaco Grand Prix and the race for the championship became even more interesting when it was all over with teammates Webber and Sebastian Vettel tied on top while points leader Jenson Button falling at the fourth spot.

But perhaps what’s more intriguing in Monaco is how Michael Schumacher ALMOST pulled off a fast one in the final lap of the race. You see, the 2010 Monaco Grand Prix ended with the Safety Car on track after Jarno Trulli collided with Karun Chandhok in the final three laps of the race.

The Safety Car returned to the pits on the final lap, prompting Michael Schumacher into thinking that he can dive by Fernando Alonso who was then riding sixth and merely moments from scoring the final championship point of the race.

Schumi dove by Fernando Alonso moments after they had crossed the Safety Car line, taking the sixth spot from the Spaniard. The stewards however, ruled the move illegal, and confirmed that an investigation would be launched.

”I think I’m sixth, I got the message ‘Track Clear’,” Michael Schumacher said in an interview. ”That means the Safety Car is gone, the accident zone was clear, so I thought I could go.”

Mercedes GP boss Ross Brawn, of course, agrees with his driver…

Michael Schumacher will return to F1 to win another title

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

seth-edward-oneal.jpgWell, that’s what Jarno Trulli is saying anyway.

Michael Schumacher is set to return to Formula One after signing with Mercedes GP for the 2010 F1 season. Yes, in case you didn’t know yet, he’s coming back and he won’t be driving for Ferrari no more. Instead, he’ll compete for Ferrari’s rivals from Mercedes after a three-year sabbatical.

Can Michael Schumacher recapture the greatness he once had after three years being away from the sport? If you’ve been following F1 for quite some time, then you should know by now that betting against a guy like Michael Schumacher is a bad idea. As far as him winning another title at 41 years old is concerned, Jarno Trulli believes Schumi can do that too.

”Why not? Being 41 is not a problem; age is just a number. He’s still in very good shape, and physically and mentally I don’t think he’s going to have any problems,” Jarno Trulli said in an interview with Crash.net Radio.

”I think the only trouble he will find is returning to racing after three years, it’s not that easy to get back into the same rhythm in Formula 1. I think it will take him some races before he can really begin to attack again, but that is the only issue I can see him facing.”

Like Schumi, Jarno Trulli will also be driving for another team. You see, Toyota is no longer competing in Formula One, forcing Trulli to move to a new player this season, Lotus.

”We have to be realistic,” Trulli said. ”It’s going to be a tough season, and to begin…”

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Jenson Button can take another step towards the Formula 1 world championship with a win at Silverstone. Jenson ButtonHis Brawn GP team also enjoys a healthy lead in the constructors’ championship.

Button leads the drivers’ rankings with 61 points ahead of his teammate Rubens Barrichello with 35 points. Sebastian Vettel is third with 29 followed by Mark Webber, Jarno Trulli, and Timo Glock.

In the constructors’ championship race, Brawn GP leads with 96 points after Button took his sixth victory in the seventh race of the season in Turkey. Button winning the Turkish GP was his fourth win in a row.

Did McLaren boss Ron Dennis resigned because Lewis Hamilton became a lying sonuvabitch?

Monday, May 18th, 2009

You bet your ass he did.

In case you didn’t know, McLaren Mercedes Formula One team chief executive Ron Dennis renounced all Formula One roles this 2009 F1 season amid the fallout from a lying scandal that could lead to the team being banned from the world championship.

Despite the obvious, McLaren Mercedes claims Ron Dennis’ resignation is merely a part of a restructuring of the McLaren Group. He will become the executive chair of McLaren Automotive, a division that will launch a sports road car in 2011.

Then again, we all know the real deal.

Lewis HamiltonMartin Whitmarsh, who replaced Ron Dennis as F1 team principal in January, will take on the CEO role and answer to the board on all F1 matters.

Dennis said the timing of his exit to the lying scandal was ”purely coincidental,” but acknowledged that FIA president Max Mosley and F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone would welcome his…

Can Jarno Trulli TRULY win the 2008 F1 Racing Title once the new F1 season kicks off in Melbourne?

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

That’s a resounding NO. N-O, NO. But for the sake of this story, let’s see why he thinks so.

In case you didn’t know, the brand new 2008 F1 season is merely a few weeks away with the first race kicking off in Melbourne (as always…) on March 16. Until then, all F1 drivers this season is looking to win the title. Like this guy for example.

Jarno Trulli of Toyota believes their new TF108 is powerful enough to challenge the likes of Renault and BMW. Hell, the guy’s so confident that he even believes they can challenge the top dogs as well, that’s Ferrari and McLaren – Mercedes, for the 2008 F1 championship.

”I don’t know how the others are doing, but it seems to me the Ferrari is really quick,” Jarno Trulli said. ”Some have said the Championship is already over.”

”The season is long, but if a team like Ferrari start this well it won’t be easy to make up the lost ground. I expect Ferrari and McLaren in front, and behind them I hope there can be Toyota too, along with Renault and BMW. I want to believe in it.”

”I think the Ferrari can be around half a second faster than the McLaren, with…”

F1 teammates become rivals as we head for Monaco GP

Friday, May 25th, 2007

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYep, the world has gone crazy as far as Formula One is concerned.

Lewis Hamilton is kicking the ass of defending F1 World Champion, Fernando Alonso in McLaren, Giancarlo Fisichella is being outclassed by Kovalainen in Renault, Felipe Massa just got pass Kimi Raikkonen in Ferrari and Ralf Schumacher just keeps on getting humiliated by Jarno Trulli over and over again in Toyota.

Yep, those are your teammate wars as we head for the 2007 Monaco Grand Prix. So far, the teams’ No.2 drivers are kicking their more popular teammates’ behinds and it’s really getting annoying lately. (Except Hamilton’s domination of our little Spanish champion of course…)

Speaking of mclaren_team.jpgwhich, Lewis Hamilton is currently leading the F1 drivers championship and Fernando Alonso is really starting to feel the pressure from his rookie teammate.

Back in Barcelona, Fernando Alonso felt the weight of public expectation from the capacity crowd as he returned home for the 2007 Spanish Grand Prix. Nobody expected this is where Lewis Hamilton will establish the new Hamilton era in front of his World Champion teammate’s home fans, taking the drivers championship lead after round four. Cruel huh?

In Ferrari, Kimi Raikkonen had an engine failure in Barcelona, forcing him to a DNF (did not finish) and let Felipe Massa overtake him in the drivers…

Frustration sinks in as 2007 F1 Season draws near

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

What’s up with these Formula One drivers?

As the brand new F1 season draws near, (I can’t wait!) some ”professional” F1 drivers are still bitching about basically everything; their team, the car, the engine and even the tires, instead of just helping their respective teams to prepare for this year’s brewing F1 battle.

What’s up? Are these guys really frustrated or are they just having too much pressure lately, with all these expectations pinned on these guys already?

alonso_fisichella.jpgDefending world champion, Fernando Alonso, is one of those drivers. He will enter the brand new 2007 F1 season with a new team, McLaren Mercedes, after winning two world championships with Renault.

Is he happy with his new team? Um… NO.

Fernando Alonso said that his McLaren Mercedes car is NOT EVEN CLOSE to being ready for Australia (where the first grand prix of the season will take place…) and they are…
