The No.1 seeds of the 2010 March Madness Bracket

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Which of them will fall flat on their faces first?

The 2010 March Madness bracket tournament has been set and the top four No.1 seeds have been announced, that being the Kansas Jayhawks, the Kentucky Wildcats, the Duke Blue Devils and the Syracuse Orange. That being said, basketball aficionados looking to score some major winnings will wait which No.1 seed will falter first since these guys know how big underdogs pay off.

So who’ll get the boot first? Let’s start with the Duke Blue Devils. Among all of the no.1 seeds in this year’s tournament, many people are expecting Duke to have the easiest matchup, well, at least in the first round. Duke has all the materials to go deep in this tournament and since the Tar Heels won’t be playing this March, not many people think otherwise.

Next we have the Kansas Jayhawks. Kansas has one of the best defenses in college basketball as they held opponents to 63.8 points, the best average in the Big 12, the very conference the Jayhawks dominated with a 15-1 record before claiming the conference tournament championship for the seventh time. Betting against these guys is pretty much, not a good idea.

We also have the Syracuse Orange. They will slug it out against the Vermont Catamounts in the first round of the 2010 NCAA tourney. Looking back at the history of these two teams, Vermont, champions of the America East Conference, beat Syracuse 60-57 in overtime in the first round of the 2005 NCAA tournament, a stinging loss the Orange have not forgotten. And if you’re looking for an upset in the first round, this matchup can very well give you one.

Syracuse had finished the 2004-05 regular season at 24-6 and…

This is an article asking you to bet on the 2010 March Madness Bracket Tournament with Bodog Sportsbook

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Since it’s that obvious anyway.

Arguably the greatest three weeks in sports are upon us with the 2010 March madness bracket tournament tipping off. And of course Bodog will have everything a basketball bettor could ever need.

Yes, it’s that time of year when even the most amateur sports fan becomes an expert in basketball with the men’s NCAA tournament here. From the play-in game through the 2010 NCAA Final Four in Indianapolis, Bodog will have it all covered with basketball news, odds, contests and more.

That’s right, the road to the Final Four runs through Bodog and you won’t find any gaming site with as many basketball betting options on the NCAA tournament than those guys. They’ve been doing this for 15 years and they should already know what bettors want when it comes to the Big Dance. From odds to news to brackets, you’ll find it all at Bodog.

This year’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament appears to be one of the most wide-open tourneys in recent year, and that could be good news for those basketball bettors. While the North Carolina Tar Heels were huge favorites going into last year’s Big Dance and came home with the title, the Heels are not even in the field this year.

The Kansas Jayhawks, the Kentucky Wildcats, the Syracuse Orange and the Duke Blue Devils are your four No.1 seeds in the bracket this year, but none of those four could be considered a lock Final Four team.

Last year’s tournament was very chalk, as for the first time since seeding began, all 12 teams seeded No.3 or better made it to the Sweet 16, and three No.1 seeds reached the Elite Eight for the third straight year.

There are probably about 20 or so teams that have a real shot at…

The 2010 March Madness Bracket Tournament is coming, which among these teams will you bet on?

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

You ready?

As we move deep into the month of March, we inch ever closer to the 2010 March Madness bracket tournament and the madness that ensues each and every spring in college basketball. With just one week remaining in conference play, the right to automatic bids are already up for grabs.

On that note, here are the top five teams lording over the college basketball right now, starting with the best of ‘em all, the Syracuse Orange. Syracuse’s rise to the top of the national polls produced an Orange infusion in the college basketball power rankings.

The Orange’s 95-77 victory Saturday over Villanova helped Syracuse’s Jim Boeheim regain his position as the no.1 coach in the power rankings too, them rankings that measure the nation’s top performers at each position. Picked before the season to finish sixth in the Big East, Syracuse already has clinched at least a share of the conference title. With a 27-2 overall record and an incredibly effective two-three zone defensive scheme, Syracuse should be the team to beat once the brackets are here.

Following at the second spot are the Kansas Jayhawks. After suffering their first conference loss, the Jayhawks are determined to bounce back. Coach Bill Self said, ”I am believing we can get something out of (the OSU loss). I don’t think the thing is broken. I do think we need to evaluate our things. We need to take great pride in the things that help us win, especially this time of year.”

The loss at Oklahoma State could be a sign of fate for Kansas as the last time the Jayhawks visited Stillwater back in 2008, they suffered a one-point defeat. Then they went on to win out, capturing the NCAA title. The defeat also meant that the only team to ever go undefeated in Big 12 play remains the 2001-02 Jayhawks squad coached by…

How important is a Tim Tebow to Florida and the Gators?

Friday, October 9th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgLet’s just put it this way, how important is Superman to Metropolis?

You can just imagine how worried the Florida Gators have been after watching their prized quarterback get carried off the field. And since we are only in the first few weeks of the still young 2009 NCAA college football season, what happens from here will dictate if they can still compete for the national title come January.

In case you didn’t know, Tim Tebow was taken out of their game against the Kentucky Wildcats after he was sacked hard by defensive end Taylor Wyndham. Tebow’s head hit his teammate Marcus Gilbert on the leg, bending his neck violently.

tim_tebowOf course, since the Florida Gators are looking to defend their national championship, this is a huge blow to their campaign this season. Tebow is the focal point of the Gators offense. He is a quarterback who can run with the football as good as he can throw it. He is arguably the best college football player to ever play for Florida and with him out, the SEC becomes a free for all for teams like the LSU Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide who are both looking to take advantage of a Tebow – less conference.

Tebow began his college career as a role player, getting on the field in goal-line and short-yardage situations. But it didn’t take a while for him to become team captain, a Heisman Trophy winner and a two-time national champion.

He set records, made history and picked up enough…

Your College Football Week 6 Picks this Weekend

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

The season on the college gridiron is already six weeks old. How about that.

And while the 2009 NCAA college football season will continue to be overshadowed by its pro counterpart until January gets here and the BCS Bowl Games start rolling, we’ll be here trying to get you earning as much money as possible.

With that being said, we’ll kick this thing off with one of those teams that you can ride on this season with ease, the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama is coming off a huge win against Kentucky 38-20 last weekend with Mark Ingram leading the way, running for a career-high 140 yards while scoring for two touchdowns.

ohio_state_buckeyesAlabama relied on their quarterback Greg McElroy, who added a pair of scoring passes as the Crimson Tide (5-0, 2-0 SEC) pulled away from the Wildcats (2-2, 0-2) during a stretch in the second and third quarters when they scored 24 points in just over 5 minutes.

Alabama has the Mississippi Rebels next. The Rebels will still continue to rely on the services of Jevan Snead who passed for three…

Superman Tim Tebow is Human, out with an Injury

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

Yep, he’s down and out.

And just like that, the entire complexion of the 2009 NCAA college football season has changed. Can the Florida Gators remain on top without their prized quarterback? And we thought the injury to Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford was big.

You read it, Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow, regarded by many as the best quarterback in college football today, is out with an injury after getting knocked out in their game against the Kentucky Wildcats last weekend.

tim_tebowSure, the Florida Gators won the game, 41-7, but after losing Tim Tebow that way that fast, the Gators may have lost a heck of a whole lot than what they gained from beating the Wildcats last Saturday.

With the Florida Gators in control of the game, leading the Kentucky Wildcats 31-7 in the third quarter and driving deep in Kentucky territory, Gators QB Tim Tebow was sacked hard by…

Can the North Carolina Tar Heels win the national title?

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

UNC has simply been unbeatable.

Except for the first half of the LSU game in the second round, no team has really challenged North Carolina in the 2009 March Madness bracket tournament.

The Tar Heels even pulled away for a 14-point win over LSU in the second round of their road to the 2009 NCAA Final Four. The biggest worry, however, has been Ty Lawson’s toe injury, but after missing the opener against Radford, he has looked like the point guard who became the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) Player of the Year, leading UNC on the brink of winning the national championship.

The North Carolina Tar Heels almost matched their season average of 90 points per game in the tournament, but it was their defense that stood out, especially in the regional final as they held Oklahoma to 60 points, 19 below its average.

Tyler HansbroughUNC head coach Roy Williams is making his third Final Four appearance, and second straight, with North Carolina, having won it all in 2005. He took Kansas to the Final Four four times from 1991-2003, and was an assistant to Dean Smith for several of his trips with North Carolina, including the 1982 national championship.

The Tar Heels will win the national title if they can continue to execute on both ends of the floor. UNC has won by an average margin of 22.5 points against Radford, LSU, Gonzaga and Oklahoma. But if UNC can’t execute the way they did in the first four rounds…

Big East on top of the 2009 March Madness Bracket

Friday, March 20th, 2009

The Big East has always said that their conference is the best there is in college basketball.

After Selection Sunday, they may have a point. In case you didn’t know, the NCAA already sent invites for the big dance and the Big East has occupied three of the four top seeds available in the 2009 March Madness bracket tournament.

We have three teams from the Big East that earned no.1 seeds. The Louisville Cardinals is the no.1 seed in the Midwest division, the Connecticut Huskies is the no.1 seed in the West division and the Pittsburgh Panthers have the no.1 seed in the East division.

Louisville CardinalsThat means the Big East has ¾ odds of having one of their own get to the 2009 NCAA Final Four. Of course, we are still about to kick off the 64-team tournament and only time will tell how many Big East teams can get that far.

The North Carolina Tar Heels, who actually belong to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is the only team that was able to stop the Big East from monopolizing the tournament after earning the no.1 seed in the South but you can’t deny the fact that the Big East has made a point that they are the best conference in college basketball.

Marquette joins the Connecticut Huskies in the West…

Which team will get the invite for the 2009 March Madness Bracket Tournament on Selection Sunday?

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

Selection Sunday is on March 15, in case you didn’t know.

That means, you should now be getting ready for the March Madness bracket tournament with Selection Sunday just around the corner. The opening round of the tournament begins on March 17 as the rest of the field gets narrowed down to four for the 2009 NCAA Final Four on April 4 and 6 at Ford Field in Detroit Michigan.

The predictions for which college teams will be picked for the 2009 March Madness bracket tournament have been coming out since the last tournament finished. The phrase ”March Madness” was coined by Henry V. Porter in 1939, to describe an Illinois high school basketball tourney. Brent Musburger first used it during his NCAA coverage in 1982 causing a legal battle almost as insane as the playoffs. But everyone finally worked things out and the madness was official. There isn’t a good record of who first called the playoffs ‘The Big Dance,’ but it does describe the action.

2009 March Madness Bracket TournamentThe five schools who have the winningnest history in NCAA Division I Men’s basketball include UCLA with 11 championships; Kentucky who won the March Madness tourney seven times; Indiana with 5 Big Dance victories; the North Carolina Tar Heels having outlasted all the other teams 4 times, including their championship win in 2005, and Duke with 3 titles.

There are 8 teams that won twice and others who are trying to reach that goal this year.

Leading the division in the America East are the Vermont Catamounts and…
