Should England get David Beckham for the World Cup?

Monday, March 15th, 2010

For whatever its worth, he really really wants to.

Former England team captain David Beckham is eager to represent his country in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He got a deal with AC Milan, allowing him to stay in game shape in Italy over the next few weeks during Major League Soccer’s off-season.

England team manager Fabio Capello will decide whether or not he will name the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder to his 23-man roster for this year’s World Cup in South Africa. Capello has publicly stated that Beckham must be playing first-team soccer at the highest level in the buildup to the World Cup to even be considered for the English national team this summer.

Beckham has made a handful of appearances for AC Milan and figures to be a regular starter for the Rossoneri as they attempt to chase down city rivals Inter Milan, currently in first place in Serie A, for the Italian league championship. But will that be enough to get him a spot in the England national team?

”He is a leader and an inspiration to his teammates. Equally, he is feared and respected by all of his opponents. He’s vastly experienced on the international stage. He’s a big-game player who doesn’t get intimidated by anyone,” CBC Sports soccer commentator Nigel Reed said.

Apparently, Los Angeles didn’t want Beckham back

Monday, July 20th, 2009

In case you didn’t know, Beckham was back in LA.

And it was only a matter of time before David Beckham played in his first home game with the Los Angeles Galaxy. The problem is, it was against the very team he wanted to save him from MLS soccer for good, AC Milan.

Five months ago, the Los Angeles Galaxy sent David Beckham on loan to AC Milan. It turned out to be a wrong move in LA’s part since it was then when Becks realized just how much better playing for Milan is than with the Galaxy in the MLS. When Beckham pleaded the Galaxy to make his move to Europe permanent, soccer fans from Los Angeles were not happy and they made sure Beckham will know just how unhappy they were last Sunday.

David BeckhamPlaying in his first home game with the Los Angeles Galaxy against AC Milan, David Beckham got a somewhat hostile reception. Yes, Beckham was booed the whole time he was on the pitch. Heck, the jeering got worse to the point that Beckham confronted a fan at halftime.

Yup, the frequent booing and derisive banners clearly angered Beckham. With homemade signs that have messages directed at Beckham like, ”Go home fraud” with a red slash through his no.23 jersey number, ”23: Repent,” ”Hey Becks, Here Before You, Here After You, Here Despite You,” and ”Is evil something u are… or something u do,” Beckham has every right to be pissed.

Of course, Beckham can only blame himself and his…

David Beckham will play for L.A. Galaxy on Thursday

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Yep, in case you didn’t know, he’s back in L.A. after a five-month stint with AC Milan in Italy.

And while we all know David Beckham will be there just for show, (just like any other Galaxy game that saw Beckham in uniform…) what could be interesting here is how will Beckham and London Donovan co-exist inside the Galaxy locker room. You see, Beckham was having all sorts of issues with Donovan, one of the captains of the Los Angeles Galaxy, while he was still on loan to AC Milan.

Yes, despite the fact that Beckham was miles away from Hollywood playing alongside Kaka in Italy, they STILL found a way to still talk about the guy in Los Angeles and this time, the city has MLS veteran, Landon Donovan to thank for it.

David BeckhamDonovan actually called Beckham a bad captain, portraying him as stingy in an upcoming book. Now I don’t know if Donovan was just pissed about the fact that Beckham wanted to stay with AC Milan for good and leave him and his Galaxy teammates with nothing but the fact of the matter is, what Donovan said in his book was uncalled for.

That’s probably why NOBODY gives a flying fuck about them or soccer in general in the…

David Beckham wants permanent transfer to AC Milan

Friday, February 13th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgBecause right now, Becks is still on loan to the Italian football giants from the L.A. Galaxy.

And in case you were living under a rock, AC Milan has been enjoying the services of David Beckham this 2009 Italian Serie A season, loaning probably the game’s most marketable star from the Los Angeles Galaxy.

And since David Beckham is finally seeing some ”real” football action in Italy after making the move to Los Angeles only to appear as a ”trophy” athlete, he is now admitting that he wants his transfer to the Italian football team a permanent one.

David BeckhamYup, apparently, Becks has no more intentions whatsoever in returning to the Los Angeles Galaxy and waste even a minute of his aging career playing MLS soccer. After all, playing alongside football icons like Ronaldinho in AC Milan is an opportunity any football athlete should not let pass, especially guys like Beckham who is probably in the late stages of his career.

But since this aspired permanent move to Europe is out of his hands, he knows he’s still a property of the Los Angeles Galaxy until they relinquish him for good to the European football franchise.

”I’ve expressed my desire to stay here but at the moment…”

AC Milan finds out David Beckham still got game

Monday, January 12th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYes, Becks made his debut for yet another team and THIS TIME, he actually played.

After making his highly anticipated debut with the Los Angeles Galaxy nearly two years ago, David Beckham was in the middle of yet another debut for an international football team and this time, he was with AC Milan, surprising football fans on how his ”new debut” turned out this time around.

You see, the last time David Beckham made his debut for a football team, it was with the Los Angeles Galaxy, fresh from his transfer from Real Madrid to the MLS. That one was more of a cameo appearance than a full-time playing appearance really, as Becks only played for 21 minutes as the L.A. Galaxy lost to D.C. United, 1-nil.

This time though, David Beckham was on David Beckhamthe pitch for 89 minutes with AC Milan. He was solid too as he came up with probably one of the best performances he’s ever had since leaving Real Madrid for California.

AC Milan ended up with a 2-2 draw against AS Roma.

Beckham sure was fantastic. Although it does not compare with the performances he once had early in his career with Manchester United and Real Madrid, he was solid nevertheless. Hell, the guy was so good that he elicited boos from the AS Roma crowd as he exited the pitch in the 89th minute.

”I felt good in the game, very strong and I enjoyed it,” Beckham said. ”I enjoyed playing…”

David Beckham admits he’s too fat to play for England or for his pathetic MLS Soccer team in L.A.

Friday, March 7th, 2008

With the NFL season over, we don’t have a choice but to write more about this ”other” football thing.

And although ya’ll probably have more than enough of David Beckham whenever you watch or, in this case, read something about football, please forgive us because this is more of the exact same thing.

With the 2008 MLS soccer season only a couple of weeks away, Los Angeles Galaxy superstar David Beckham admits he’s too fat to play any soccer at this point. Oh yeah, his 100th appearance for the England national football team is in limbo as well because of his problems with his fitness lately.

David Beckham”I would love to reach the hundred caps, but I have to be physically ready to be part of the team,” David Beckham told a media conference Wednesday in Seoul. ”All I’ve done is training, so I have no much fitness.”

David Beckham was in Seoul, South Korea because of this three-match Asian tour his MLS soccer team, the Los Angeles Galaxy, took part in. And because nobody really pays much attention to the MLS, in the States or any part of the globe, he was asked about his status with his ”other” more significant team, that being England.

The ex-England captain was denied of his…

England takes on Estonia for the Euro 2008 Qualifiers on Saturday with or without David Beckham

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

Yep, David Beckham is still nursing a knee injury. One of many the guy already suffered this year.

Heading to England’s Euro 2008 Qualifier against Estonia this Saturday, David Beckham, as always, will be out with yet another injury. Despite that, Steve McClaren is still praising the guy. For what, only he knows. Probably for the way Becks spooned with Stevie a couple of nights ago.

England head coach Steve McClaren is praising David Beckham for, according to McClaren, the way the England star is still trying to regain his fitness. For all ya’ll who didn’t know, Beckham has been slowed down by various injuries this year and the fact of the matter is, Becks don’t have a choice but to nurse each of them.

”He’s a true patriot and he loves playing for England,” England coach Steve McClaren said of Beckham for his efforts to be available for the national team’s campaign this season. ”That’s still his motivation, that’s still his mind-set.”

David Beckham is still nursing a right knee injury he sustained playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS soccer. The injury denied Becks for two England European Championship qualifiers last September and will still rule him out of two more fixtures, one against Estonia this Saturday, and another against Russia.

What David Beckham is aiming for now is…

According to Charlton, David Beckham is Rubbish and should just stay in England and not in L.A.

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

And for all ya’ll who don’t know who Bobby Charlton is, he’s one of England’s and Manchester United’s legendary icons.

And as far as he’s concerned, David Beckham can suck his balls and call it a good day’s work. Well, maybe not but apparently, Charlton believes Beckham’s lifestyle damaged his football career. Heck, Charlton says Beckham should be playing in England and not the United States.

”(Beckham) was a really, really great footballer, a marvelous talent,” Bobby Charlton said at the launch of his autobiography. ”I saw it when he was about 10 and he has a terrific talent, but his lifestyle has gone in a different direction.”

David Beckham started generating some media attention when he was playing for the Manchester United Red Devils. Yeah, sure, a young Beckham lacked power then but that didn’t stop Beckham from impressing Charlton himself.

”He wanted to be a footballer as much as any young player I’ve ever seen and I wonder sometimes if he thinks what’s happening (now),” Charlton said at Old Trafford.

”He’s in America, he’s committed to making millions of pounds,” Charlton said. ”I would…”

And now… David Beckham could be out of the L.A. Galaxy lineup LONGER this 2007 MLS Soccer Season

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

After all that shit about making one comeback after another with an injured ankle, things just got from bad to worse for David Beckham.

Yep, David Beckham, the same man the Los Angeles Galaxy paid all that money for, probably to ‘’save” soccer in the States or simply give the team more wins for a change, suffered a knee injury in the 2007 SuperLiga final against the Mexican team Pachuca when Fernando Salazar knocked him down to the ground silly.

It has now been two months since David Beckham moved from the Spanish La Liga to Los Angeles. And to say that this two-month stretch was just miserable for Becks could very well be an understatement.

Hell, he spent the past two months trying to play through his ankle injury for his new team, the Los Angeles Galaxy, and just when he’s finally getting back to form, a sonuvabitch like Fernando Salazar brakes his knee.

”It’s just gone from one thing to another thing. Maybe it is a sign to give it a rest, get it right and not come back until it is right,” David Beckham said.

Oh by the way, in case you’re wondering, the Los Angeles Galaxy lost to Pachuca on penalties to allow the Mexican side win the…

A Tired David Beckham flew in from England to lead the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 3-0 loss to Chivas USA

Friday, August 24th, 2007

David Beckham did everything he could, even flying all the way from Europe back to Cali. He still lost. Too bad eh?

Last Thursday, David Beckham flew from Europe to Los Angeles to lead the Los Angeles Galaxy in an MLS soccer match against Chivas USA. Unfortunately for Becks, there was no hero’s welcome this time as Chivas simply dominated L.A., 3-0.

Oh yeah, that wasn’t the only thing that got David Beckham pissed too. Becks got somewhat, a little feisty after Jesse Marsch of Chivas USA tackled him from behind. At least the guy is finally showing some emotion since arriving from Real Madrid to play in the 2007 MLS soccer season right?

david_beckham21.jpgAccording to Jesse Marsche, the stunt he pulled on Beckham was a retaliation somewhat of a recent play he claims Beckham pulled on him. Somebody tell this guy that he just became the most hated man not only in L.A., but in all of England.

”He kind of got a piece of me the play before that and so it was somewhat of a retaliation, somewhat of a tactical foul because he was on the break,” Jesse Marsch said. ”It was harder than I would have liked it to…”
