Your Gambling Guide for Week 9 in College Football

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Will we see some movers in the BCS rankings this week?

You know it, Week 9 of the 2009 NCAA college football season continues with more than a few huge games that could have an impact on the BCS standings after the weekend.

First, we have this game between the Georgia Bulldogs and the team on top of the BCS food chain, the Florida Gators. The annual showdown in Jacksonville will give the Bulldogs a chance to prove that they still belong in the mix with the top teams in the nation as they play the Gators.

The Georgia Bulldogs, who lost at home to LSU and tim_tebowTennessee, gained some rhythm with a huge 34-10 win at Vanderbilt as they look to close the month with an upset over the defending BCS champions.

For Florida, all eyes will be on Tim Tebow and his sore shoulder. If he is able to play all out with no effects from the bruised non-throwing shoulder he suffered at Kentucky, Florida should put up a lot of points. The Gators are averaging more than 40 points per game, and Tebow accounts for…

Who’ll top BCS Rankings in Week 8 of College Football?

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Who cares as long as you win a lot of dough this weekend right?

That’s exactly what we’ll be helping you with as Week 8 of the 2009 NCAA college football season continues.

On Friday, two powerhouse teams collide when the no.3 Texas Longhorns play the Missouri Tigers in what would be the Longhorns’ first test as the no.3 team in the nation. Texas (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) really took over in the second half against Oklahoma in their 16-13 win last weekend. The question now is, do they have enough left in the tank for what is shaping up to be another classic showdown with the Tigers?

The Missouri Tigers are going to play like a desperate team. Losing a second conference game this early could hamper any chances of making the conference title game. The only thing they could do right now is pray that linebacker Will Ebner, after undergoing knee surgery a few days ago, can make it in time for Texas.

alabama_crimson_tideDo yourself a favor and bet on the Longhorns on this one.

Next, we have the Tennessee Volunteers visiting the no.2 team in the nation, the Alabama Crimson Tide. After getting a huge 45-19 win over Georgia, the Volunteers headed into their bye week with a good feeling about where they are headed at this point of the season. They will now be facing the Alabama Crimson Tide and in the eyes of many long-time Volunteer fans, an upset of the Crimson Tide would make this season a success even if the team finishes the season without winning a single game again.

I can’t blame them too, the Alabama Crimson Tide, ranked no.2 in…

Your Gambling Guide for Week 7 in College Football

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

There sure have been a couple of HUGE surprises last week.

Admit it, the way Tim Tebow and Sam Bradford came back to the field last weekend caught most of you off guard. Hopefully, they didn’t make you lose that much dough. Coming to Week 7 of the 2009 NCAA college football season, we’ll get you ready and hyped up for this weekend’s games so you won’t make the same mistakes twice.

Coming from their first win over a Football Bowl Subdivision team in nearly a year, the Louisville Cardinals gun for back to back victories over another when they play the Connecticut Huskies Saturday night.

usc_trojansRyan Payne kicked a 32-yard field goal with 30 seconds left to play to give Louisville its first FBS win, 25-23, over Southern Mississippi. Wide receiver Scott Long had a career day for the Cardinals, with 146 yards receiving on five catches, plus a touchdown.

The Connecticut Huskies, meanwhile, look to bounce back from a disheartening loss they suffered against Pittsburgh. Connecticut (3-2, 0-1 in Big East) led 21-6 after Andre Dixon scored on a 2-yard run to end a 61-yard drive with 3:56 remaining in the third quarter. But Pitt quarterback Bill Stull, who made several major mistakes in the first half, found Jonathan Baldwin on a 26-yard scoring pass play set up by Dion Lewis’ 32-yard run to cut it to 21-13 before eventually stealing the game from…

Week 4 Picks for the 2009 College Football Season

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgFor those of you still whining about USC’s loss to Washington, get over it because this could be the week that’ll get your money back.

Well, we’re not promising you anything but since Week 4 of the 2009 NCAA college football season will definitely give all of us who lost a lot of dough on that USC game a fresh start, it doesn’t hurt to hope for the best.

And hope for the best we will indeed as Week 4 on the college gridiron should give you some interesting games for you to enjoy and hopefully, win some cash out of it too. For starters, we have the Mississippi Rebels, ranked No.4 in the Associated Press poll, getting their first big test of the season Thursday night when they face the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia. The Rebels are coming off a rather easy 52-6 win over Southeastern Louisiana last Saturday.

usc_trojansHowever, while that one was a breeze for Mississippi, the same couldn’t be said this week since they only have four days to prepare for the South Carolina Gamecocks. Fortunately, the Rebels are healthy again after an outbreak of flu last week that affected almost a third of the roster. Let’s see if they still have something left in the tank this Thursday.

Next, we have the Virginia Tech Hokies hosting the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday as the Hokies will ride on their momentum as they gun for their third win in four outings. The last time the Hokies were on the field, the Nebraska Cornhuskers limited them to two first downs and 55 yards for the first 28 minutes of the second half before bouncing right back up with two plays, Tyrod Taylor’s 81-yard pass to Danny Coale that put it at the Nebraska 3, then Taylor’s 11-yard strike to Dyrell Roberts with 21 seconds left for the win over the stunned Cornhuskers.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Hokies will play the…

What the fuck are these Michigan State Spartans doing in the 2009 NCAA Final Four against No.1 Connecticut?

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Yes, they’re still here.

The Big East may have two teams in the 2009 NCAA Final Four, but it’s Michigan State who will be hosting the party.

The Michigan State Spartans rode by its trademark, defense and rebounding, and threw in some balanced scoring to get to play in a Final Four just 90 miles from campus.

The Spartans capped the four-game run by beating overall no.1 seed Louisville, which was looking to join fellow Big East teams Connecticut and Villanova in the national semifinals.

Michigan State SpartansEight Spartans scored in double figures over the four games, but it was the steady play inside and sudden offense from Goran Suton allowed the Spartans to reach the Final Four for the fifth time since 1999. They will play the Connecticut Huskies next.

The regional semifinal win over defending national champion Kansas will become the signature win in what is turning out to be Michigan State’s Cinderella run, as the Spartans overcame a 13-point first-half deficit and went 16-of-17 from the free throw line to rally for the win.

Tom Izzo has taken Michigan State to the Final Four four times, winning it…

Are the Four No.1 Seeds our 2009 NCAA Final Four?

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Well, they’re still here and two of them have already punched their ticket to the Elite Eight.

We are already deep into the 2009 March Madness bracket tournament and the big four are still standing. That’s not overly surprising as the number ones usually land in the Sweet 16, but it’s this weekend that trouble starts for the big guns.

Seeded No.1 in the Midwest, the Louisville Cardinals defeated Morehead St. (+21.5) 74-54, Siena 79-72 and are listed as the odds-on to make it to the 2009 NCAA Final Four from its region at –170.

The Louisville Cardinals are going up Louisville Cardinalsagainst the Arizona Wildcats next and Louisville finds itself listed as a 9.5-point fave. The two teams have met only once in the last few years, December of 2006 to be exact, and Louisville dropped a 72-65 decision to the Wildcats failing to cover as 3.5-point home underdogs as well.

Digging around online for numbers, it looks like Louisville head coach Rick Pitino is undefeated in Sweet 16 play, amassing a record of 8-0 (dating back to his days at Providence). Louisville is 12-8 ATS in their last 20 games in March. The last nine times Louisville has taken the floor as a favorite in March Madness, they have rewarded their backers…

Can the Arizona Wildcats upset the no.1 seed Louisville Cardinals and advance to the Elite Eight?

Friday, March 27th, 2009

The Arizona Wildcats is the only double-digit seed to crack the round of 16.

You read it, the Arizona Wildcats is the only team seeded lower than tenth to still be playing in the 2009 March Madness bracket tournament while the top three seeds in all four regions moved on to the third round with two no.4s and one no.5 still alive.

East Regional (Pittsburgh, Duke, Villanova, Xavier) and South (North Carolina, Oklahoma, Syracuse, Gonzaga) both have their top four seeds still going, while the West has Connecticut, Missouri and no.5 Purdue, all alive in the bracket battles. The Midwest’s top three (Louisville, Michigan State, Kansas) will be joined by the 12th-seeded Arizona Wildcats.

Arizona WildcatsFrom 2000 through last season, a total of only three regions have sent its top four teams on to the regional semifinals; the Midwest in 2001, the East Rutherford regional in 2004 and the West in 2007. The only top four seeds not to advance this year were Wake Forest, which lost to Cleveland State in the first round, and Washington, which lost to Purdue in the second round.

Memphis has the longest current streak of round of 16 appearances at four, (and that streak still stands despite losing to Missouri last Thursday) while North Carolina and Kansas have made three in a row.

Will all these top seeded teams still alive, what chance…

2009 March Madness Bracket down to the Sweet 16

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Yep, we’re down to the final 16 teams.

And when we only have 16 teams remaining in the biggest tourney of college hoops, that only means one thing, the regional semifinals of the 2009 March Madness bracket tournament is on with only two more rounds to go before we determine which two teams will be advancing to play for the national title.

There’s no more room for error. And as far as the Louisville Cardinals are concerned, they shouldn’t allow themselves to make the same mistakes they made against Siena if they still have plans of advancing to the 2009 NCAA Final Four.

Sweet 16Sure, all four no.1 seeds in the tournament advanced but it wasn’t smooth sailing for the top-seeded Louisville Cardinals when these Sienna Saints refused to cooperative. You see, the Cardinals had a comfortable double-digit lead over Sienna and it did look like Louisville was on its way to advancing comfortably. But when the Saints, all of a sudden, erased that huge lead, the Cardinals started to panic.

For a team that has the overall no.1 seed in the tournament, Louisville struggling…

Big East on top of the 2009 March Madness Bracket

Friday, March 20th, 2009

The Big East has always said that their conference is the best there is in college basketball.

After Selection Sunday, they may have a point. In case you didn’t know, the NCAA already sent invites for the big dance and the Big East has occupied three of the four top seeds available in the 2009 March Madness bracket tournament.

We have three teams from the Big East that earned no.1 seeds. The Louisville Cardinals is the no.1 seed in the Midwest division, the Connecticut Huskies is the no.1 seed in the West division and the Pittsburgh Panthers have the no.1 seed in the East division.

Louisville CardinalsThat means the Big East has ¾ odds of having one of their own get to the 2009 NCAA Final Four. Of course, we are still about to kick off the 64-team tournament and only time will tell how many Big East teams can get that far.

The North Carolina Tar Heels, who actually belong to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is the only team that was able to stop the Big East from monopolizing the tournament after earning the no.1 seed in the South but you can’t deny the fact that the Big East has made a point that they are the best conference in college basketball.

Marquette joins the Connecticut Huskies in the West…
