For the first time ever, the Pro Bowl will come a week before THE big game, as this year’s Pro Bowl kicks off Super Bowl week with a bang.

Yes, the 2010 NFL Pro Bowl will now come before the Super Bowl and this year, the best players from both the AFC and the NFC will play at Dolphin Stadium in Miami, Florida for this year’s annual showcase of the league’s premiere talent.

This way, football fans will be able to further build their anticipation heading to Super Bowl XLIV and as far as this year’s Pro Bowl starters are concerned, both teams’ rosters have some familiar faces.

Leading the pack for the AFC squad is Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning. Other selections include Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson, Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson and Colts teammate Reggie Wayne.

Dallas Clark, who also plays for the Indianapolis Colts, was also voted in for the Pro Bowl to play tight end, starting tackles will be the Dolphins’ Jake Long and the Broncos’ Ryan Clady. Starting guards for the AFC will be the Patriots’ Logan Mankins and Alan Faneca of the New York Jets.

Coach Rex Ryan said the New York Jets should be the favorites to win every single game they play in the postseason and they certainly made a point in their last two playoff games. But can these guys keep it going against arguably THE team to beat in the AFC the last few years?

Because Week 13 of the 2009 NFL football season will kick off in Toronto where the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills will renew their AFC East rivalry on Thursday Night Football.

That’s right, the Buffalo Bills, trying to reach out to fans across Lake Ontario, is scheduled to play a total of five contests in Toronto, one per season through 2012. Unfortunately, the experiment did not begin well last year, with many in attendance supporting the opposing team in the Bills’ 16-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins on December 7.

On the verge of four straight losing seasons with a 3-7 mark, the Bills gave their home fans reason to smile with a 31-14 win over Miami last Sunday.

After averaging 12.3 points in the previous eight games, Buffalo broke out with 24 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, including a 51-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Terrell Owens, the second time the duo hooked up for a lengthy score in the last two weeks.

As far as the New York Jets are concerned, rookie Mark Sanchez will look to bounce back on Thursday as he has continued to struggle, tossing only two touchdowns against seven interceptions in the last three games. Sanchez was 13 of 17 for 154 yards and just one interception Sunday, enabling the defense to carry the Jets to a 17-6 victory over Carolina to snap a three-game losing streak.

Yep, you read it, Week 11 of the 2009 NFL football season will kick off on the wild side because this week, the Miami Dolphins and that wildcat offense will travel to Bank of America Stadium to take on the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football.

Now I don’t know about you but that’s the way to start a week of football. The Miami Dolphins have become one of the most exciting teams in the NFL because of that explosive wildcat offense that the Dolphins introduced to the league last year. If they can just win more games with the wildcat.

As of this writing, both the Miami Dolphins and the Carolina Panthers have an identical 4-5 mark. The Panthers’ 28-19 win over Atlanta last Sunday put them one game behind the Falcons, Packers, Eagles and Giants in the wild card picture, with a game in New York still remaining on their schedule.

The Dolphins BARELY saved themselves from falling to 3-6 after quarterback Chad Henne gave up an interception in the last two minutes of their game against the Buccaneers last Sunday. You read it, Week 10 of the 2009 NFL football season continues this Sunday with a huge lineup of games that will surely make or break one’s weekend. (Depending on who ya’ll are betting on of course…)

And while we all go ga-ga over the Pats – Colts matchup this Sunday night, there are still some huge games on this Sunday’s schedule that you shouldn’t dare miss. And since teams are starting to make that one last gasp for a playoff spot, we can expect some very very competitive games starting this Sunday all the way to the Super Bowl.

We’ll start off with this matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. The Packers will look to bounce back from a disappointing loss to the once winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Packers have dropped their last two games, sending them to a 4-4 mark. They desperately need a win when the Cowboys visit them at Lambeau.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sacked six times for the second consecutive game last Sunday against the Bucs. Rodgers has absorbed a league-worst 37 sacks this year. Perhaps what’s even more unsettling is the way they virtually gave the game away to Tapa Bay.

The race for postseason slots are starting to heat up.

Yep, we are now starting to see which of the teams this 2009 NFL football season will be making a run at the Super Bowl come February.

After eight weeks, we have the Indianapolis Colts tearing it up in the AFC and the New Orleans Saints having a dream season for the Big Easy. Will these two teams meet each other in Super Bowl XLIV?

But before you contemplate on that, we still have some huge games for you this week as the season continues with Week 9. Sure, Brett Favre and those Minnesota Vikings have the week off, but will that stop you from watching more of the NFL this Sunday? Probably not.

One game you should watch out for is this game between the Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots. Miami is coming off a huge win over the New York Jets last Sunday as they look to take Sanchez and the rest of his Jets out of that no.2 spot in the AFC East. A win over Tom Brady at Foxboro could give ‘em just that but of course, that’s easier said than done.

Yep, Brett Favre will be playing the Green Bay Packers this Sunday as Week 8 of the 2009 NFL football season continues. This time though, it’ll be a little different as he returns to Lambeau Field wearing enemy colors.

That’s right, Brett Favre will be back at historic Lambeau Field when he leads his Minnesota Vikings against the Green Bay Packers. This will be his first trip back at Lambeau since the Packers ended the Brett Favre saga in Green Bay when they sent him packing to New York city a year ago.

His return should be an interesting one since we all know how much fans at Lambeau loved Brett Favre when the guy was still playing for the Green Bay Packers. Will they still cheer for Favre who’ll be wearing the colors of their bitter rivals from Minnesota?

They should. After all, Brett Favre did spent 16 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, tearing it up at Lambeau Field when he still was building on what is now a Hall of Fame career…

Why? Well, in case you didn’t know, the sixth week of the NFL calendar means the trading deadline is coming and since we are heading to Week 6 of the 2009 NFL football season, expect some struggling teams to make a move or two, each hoping that the moves they make this week will be the difference between winning and losing.

One team in the middle of all these trade rumors? The Buffalo Bills. After five weeks into the season, the Terrell Owens experiment hasn’t been paying off. The Cowboys’ leading receiver last season hasn’t done shit for the Bills this year. After five games, he only has 12 receptions, 202 yards, and one measly touchdown.

As a result, the Buffalo Bills have not fared well this season. They are currently dead last in the AFC East with a disappointing 1-4 record. Good thing the division is still a wide open free for all with Tom Brady and the Patriots still looking for their groove. A rookie quarterback’s first loss is significant, especially for a guy like Mark Sanchez who generated a lot of hype coming out of USC. Tom Brady had his best game of the season last Sunday, completing 21 of 32 passes for 252 yards and a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens. The New England Patriots are now probably breathing a sigh of relief after seeing progress from their franchise quarterback on a weekly basis.
