Brett Favre is a man stuck in limbo, he just can’t make up his mind to retire from professional football or not.
In case you haven’t heard, Brett Favre recently said that he can still play at a “high level” if he returns to the Minnesota Vikings for a 20th NFL season. Favre has not yet said if he plans to play, but he’s not sounding like a retired quarterback.
You see, Brett Favre told the Sun Herald on the Mississippi newspaper’s website he would “love to go beat the Saints” in the season opener Sept. 9. New Orleans beat Minnesota in the NFC championship game in January.
“If my body was a wreck, the decision would be made,” Favre said. “But that is not the case. I know the Vikings want to know.
“Hell, I want to know. But I am not going to press it. If I do not play, it does not cost the Vikings a dime. They keep the $13 million. I know they have confidence in the players they have. They had a chance to draft Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen in the first round, but they didn’t want one.”
Favre said his healing on schedule from surgery on his left ankle, and cycling is part of his rehab.
Agent Bus Cook was asked if the 40-year-old Favre has made a decision on playing. His reply? “Nope.” The Vikings declined comment.
Favre enjoyed one of the best seasons of his…

The AFC East just became the best division in football.
With the addition of Brandon Marshall in the Miami Dolphins lineup this 2010 NFL football season, a trade that surprised a lot of teams since Marshall is a talented but troubled wide receiver, the AFC East just got interesting.
The Dolphins’ decision to acquire Brandon Marshall made the AFC East the best conference in the NFL. Add to that, Dolphins signed him to a four-year, $47.5 million contract with $24 million guaranteed, while giving up several second-round draft picks. This is a lot of money, and a big gamble on a guy who has had his share of on- and off-the-field issues.
With the addition of Marshall and the continued development of Chad Henne, the Dolphins are poised to be in the thick of things.
Take the Dolphins’ rushing attack and a quarterback who can actually stretch the field with his arm, and the Miami Dolphins offense now looks to be viable. The defense was solid last season, and they believe removing Joey Porter will allow them to actually get younger and more athletic at the linebacker position.
The New York Jets have made a lot of offseason acquisitions too like Antonio Cromartie, LaDanian Tomlinson, and Santonio Holmes all for relatively favorable terms for the Jets. Cromartie can be considered a gamble, but if he can return to his form of a few years ago, the Jets will have the best secondary in the league by far.
Mark Sanchez should be better after a full season under…

And mind you, there are quite a few.
The 2010 NFL football season draws near and that means some NFL teams have began tweaking their rosters here and there to find that combination that they hope will win them the Super Bowl.
First we have the New York Giants. They announced that they signed Jim Sorgi to a one-year deal. Contract terms were not disclosed. He will be backing up Eli Manning after doing the same job for six years working with his brother Peyton.
Sorgi will compete with second-year man Rhett Bomar for the Giants’ backup quarterback job. The 6-foot-5, 196-pound quarterback was the Colts’ sixth-round draft choice in 2004.
He has appeared in 16 NFL games, completing 99 of 156 pass attempts for 929 yards, with six touchdowns and one interception. He played in only one game in 2009, and was placed on injured reserve in December with shoulder tendinitis.
Next, the Minnesota Vikings signed kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd and re-signed cornerback Benny Sapp. Lloyd handled kickoffs for the Carolina Panthers the past two seasons, leading the NFL with 30 touchbacks in 2008. He had 21 touchbacks last year, tied for fourth-most in the league.
Ryan Longwell remains the regular kicker for…

In case you’re wondering, yes, Brett Favre is still teasing the rest of the NFL about whether he’ll finally retire or come back for one more season.
And in case you have not been keeping count, Brett Favre has been putting his fans through this charade for the third straight year now. First it was in 2008 when he announced his retirement before ending up in New York to play for the Jets. Then there was that ”low-key” press conference where he announced his retirement again only to play for the Minnesota Vikings afterwards.
Coming to the 2010 NFL football season, it’s no surprise that everybody is looking at Brett Favre again, wondering if he’ll finally retire this time or give it another go, for the third straight time. And if you are a Vikings fan hoping that Favre will indeed come back for the coming season, then you should be happy to know that we have seen some signs that say Favre will indeed suit up and play again.
If you didn’t know it yet, Brett Favre decided to undergo ankle surgery and his decision to have surgery down south has decreased any doubts about his desire to play for the Minnesota Vikings again. Favre’s teammates from Minnesota share the same sentiments.
”I think that’s some promising news,” tight end Visanthe Shiancoe said after Thursday’s practice. ”Why’d he get ankle surgery? That’s the first thing that came through my mind.”
”Seems like he got it for the season, because that’s what he needed to come back to the Vikings. But whatever’s best for him and his family and for his old body, old, old, old body, I stress that. He has to make a decision that’s good for him.”
”You always want to end on top,” Shiancoe said…

They shouldn’t, but they sure are heavily talking about it these days.
The Philadelphia Eagles have a lot of things to decide on before starting the 2010 NFL football season. One of which is whether they will trade quarterback Donovan McNabb. As rumors begin to circulate regarding the future of McNabb, the Eagles have been reluctant to do any moves for now.
Donovan McNabb has been the heart and soul of the Philadelphia Eagles for years. McNabb has proven to be a solid NFL quarterback but has never won the ”Big One” despite being in NFC championship games five times including a consistent four-year run from 2001 to 2004.
While Donovan McNabb has shown above-average statistics, he has no Super Bowl wins and has only won the NFC championship game once in those five attempts. This lack of success has caused controversy among Philadelphia football fans and across the NFL.
McNabb is certainly no stranger to controversy. When he was selected with the second pick in the 1999 NFL Draft, Philadelphia fans were disappointed because they wanted University of Texas running back Rickey Williams.
In 2003, McNabb was the subject of controversial comments made by…

Like Tomlinson, Westbrook has began looking for teams to play for.
With the 2010 NFL football season still more than a couple of months away, guys like Tomlinson and Westbrook have more than enough time to find a new place to call home where they try to salvage what’s left of their playing career.
In case you haven’t heard, the Philadelphia Eagles decided to part ways with their all-time leading rusher by releasing Brian Westbrook a few weeks ago. Westbrook, who has a history of injuries, missed eight games in 2009 after suffering ankle injuries and two concussions.
In his eight-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles, he never played a full season. This seems to be part of the reason why Philadelphia didn’t want to bring him back in 2010. He was also due to make $7.25 million.
Now that he’s a free agent, Westbrook may have to accept the fact that he will most likely be signed by a team for a limited role as a no.2 (or even no.3) running back. Here are just some teams that may consider signing Westbrook now that he is no longer with the Eagles.
The Minnesota Vikings may be a good choice for Westbrook since…

Well, what do you expect?
With still more than a few months left before we get to see what the 2010 NFL football season has in store for us, Brett Favre ain’t budging yet when asked on what exactly are his plans for his imminent future in the NFL.
You see, Brett Favre said that he still hasn’t decided yet on whether he’ll play again next season, and doesn’t expect to make an announcement anytime soon. Well, we can’t say we haven’t heard something like this from him before.
Appearing on NBC’s ”The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” Favre, who played for the Minnesota Vikings last season, politely balked when host Jay Leno asked for his thoughts on returning for the 2010 season.
”Well Jay, it’s only been a month, and I know now that I’m just not going to say anything anytime soon, just going to kind of sit back, relax, enjoy the offseason,” Brett Favre said in his first public appearance since the Minnesota Vikings lost in the NFC championship game at New Orleans back in January 24.
The pride of Kiln, Miss., Favre is the NFL’s career leader in nearly every major passing category. Hell, the guy’s a three-time league MVP too. The former star quarterback of the Green Bay Packers had one of his best seasons ever after doing what was once unfathomable, playing for Green Bay’s rivals, the Minnesota Vikings.
The Vikings were rewarded with 33 touchdowns and the lowest…

I’m hoping the Patriots will have the balls to go ahead and sign this dude.
The 2010 NFL football season is shaping up to be an interesting one to say the least with two of the league’s biggest and longest tenured running backs parting ways with their respective teams.
The releases of LaDainian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook have set off a firestorm of rumors and speculation about where the two backs might end up next season. Both still have a little something left in the tank, so it’s just a matter of finding the right team for their skill sets.
As far as LaDainian Tomlinson is concerned, he limits his prospective employment to teams capable of winning the Super Bowl. He has reduced his options to a very small field. And then he’s
going to have to take a very modest contract, given his performance level in 2009 (730 rushing yards, 3.3 per carry, 20 catches) for a very good team.
There is a reasonably good chance no Super Bowl contender will offer Tomlinson, 30, that chance. But history says that Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots might, or Mike Shanahan in Washington could. This is not to say the Redskins are a Super Bowl contender.
It appears that unless Tomlinson is willing to join a team like the Cincinnati Bengals or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his best chance to reach the Super Bowl still might be through San Diego. And he just cashed out there.
One good fit for Tomlinson are the New Orleans Saints…

Of course they do, just like any other sportsbook in the country putting us through the now annual tradition of the ”Favre watch.”
Football fans from Minnesota and probably some from New York and Green Bay, are all wondering if Brett Favre will give it another go for the coming 2010 NFL football season or just retire. (Yep, we did the exact same thing last year, and the year before that…)
Performing in stellar fashion all season, Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings looked primed, even destined for a Super Bowl win. But, as has happened in the past, Flingin’ Favre sent another pass into the defense’s arms to end what had all the earmarks of a magical Super Bowl run.
While his season is over, Favre’s offseason and the debate and speculation regarding ‘will he’ or ‘won’t he’ retire has just begun. But as far as the Minnesota Vikings are concerned, they don’t want to make the same mistake the Packers did a few years ago. You know, like giving him a deadline on coming up with a decision if he wants to come back or not.
You read it, Vikings coach Brad Childress, the same guy who feuded with Favre a bit when the Vikings started losing some games in the regular season, claims he doesn’t have a deadline for Favre’s decision unlike what the Packers did when they ”crowned” Aaron Rodgers as their new starting quarterback, sending Favre then to New York.
Childress doesn’t mind preparing for both scenarios, that is…

Let me just get this out of the way, if the Saints win the Super Bowl, then the celebration that’ll come after will be bigger than Mardi Gras.
And since Super Bowl XLIV will be their first ever trip to the Super Bowl for the New Orleans Saints, anything they celebrate from this point forward will be nothing compared to the way this city will celebrate if the Saints win the big game.
In case you didn’t get that, the New Orleans Saints are going to the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history. Hosting their first NFC championship game, the Saints defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-28 to earn a trip to Miami.
They will play the Indianapolis Colts, a team that has a knack for playing and winning Super Bowl championships in Miami. Of course, for a city that has been able to overcome adversity, don’t expect the Colts’ history in Miami faze these Saints fans one bit.
Especially Drew Brees.
”Four years ago, they were hosing this roof,” as Saints coach Sean Payton put it, referring to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. ”This is pretty special for this city.”
The Saints went 20 years before they had their first…
