Will LeBron James join Wade and Bosh in Miami?

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

The entire city of Cleveland certainly hope not.

The coming 2010 NBA basketball season just got a little more interesting after Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh announced that they will both sign with the Miami Heat.

And since LeBron James, along with Wade and Bosh, have talked about the idea of playing together, does that mean LeBron will announce, on national TV, that he will be playing for the Heat too?

And in case you haven’t heard, yes, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh will play together for the Miami Heat, putting that franchise right in the middle of the title chase next year in June. Ending months of speculation, Wade and Bosh announced Wednesday that they’ll sign with Miami, two decisions that vault the Heat back into the NBA championship picture and put them two-thirds of the way to hitting one of the biggest trifectas in NBA history.

You see, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and LeBron James all have talked about playing together. On Thursday night, James will say why that will or will not happen. “It’s over,” Wade said in an interview with The Associated Press. “It’s not all over-over, but for me, it’s over.”

LeBron James can’t say that yet.

Dwyane Wade told the Heat that for him to re-sign, the team had to add either LeBron James or Chris Bosh. For good measure, they might get both.

It had to be one or the other,” Wade said in the AP interview. “Of course, there’s a lot of talented players in this league. But you want to look at players that complement my game, and Chris and LeBron are two of those guys. I had a decision to make. Chris had a decision to make. It wasn’t a lock that he would come to Miami. So I had a lot to think about.”

James averaged 29.7 points for Cleveland last season…

Will Dwyane Wade stay with the Miami Heat?

Friday, March 5th, 2010

seth-edward-oneal.jpgWe’ll find out soon enough.

After failing to acquire another legitimate player to help Dwyane Wade before the trading deadline expired in the 2010 NBA basketball season, the Miami Heat should consider going to their initial plan of getting a free agent in the offseason.

While the New York Knicks, the Chicago Bulls, the Washington Wizards, the L.A. Clippers, and the Sacramento Kings made a surplus of combined trades to give them major cap relief after the season, the Miami Heat were caught on the sidelines watching their advantage fade away.

Chicago and New York were already expected to make a run for Dwyane Wade, but now they can offer him the chance to possibly play alongside LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Amar’e Stoudemire, or Joe Johnson.

”You pay attention and notice what’s going on around the league because you’re a player in this league, and there’s also a business factor,” Dwyane Wade said of teams looking to join the summer sweepstakes.

”But no team is more important than the team you play for, and seeing your team put itself in position to win at a high level for a long time.”

A Chicago Bulls tandem with Derrick Rose or any of those names would have to be enticing for Wade. If Miami isn’t able to convince him the team will contend next year, the Chicago native would have a hard time saying no to a Bulls offer like that.

Same goes for New York. Would Wade really pass up the chance to…

The Reserves for the 2010 NBA All-Star Game

Friday, February 12th, 2010

seth-edward-oneal.jpgWe already know who are the starters, now it’s time to familiarize ourselves with the reserves.

The 2010 NBA All-Star Game is just around the corner as the NBA’s midseason classic will officially shift the attention to hoops with football season officially over. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade lead the East as they take on Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony of the West.

As far as the reserves are concerned, we have a few first-timers. Four first-timers come from the Eastern Conference; Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks center Al Horford, Charlotte Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace and 2009 Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls.

Completing the East reserves are Toronto’s Chris Bosh, Atlanta’s Joe Johnson and Boston’s Paul Pierce.

Rondo is the second All-Star from the Draft class of 2006, joining the Blazers’ Brandon Roy, who earned his third All-Star selection this year. Horford joins the Thunder’s Kevin Durant as the first All-Stars from the Draft class of 2007 while Rose is all alone as the first All-Star from the class of 2008.

Derrick Rose will have a very busy weekend in Dallas. He and his fellow sophomores will take on the rookies in the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam on All-Star Friday and as the reigning PlayStation Skills Challenge champion, he’ll likely defend his title on All-Star Saturday.

Another first-timer on the East is Charlotte’s Gerald Wallace. With…

Who has better starters for the 2010 NBA All-Star Game?

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

It’s that time of the year when the NFL concludes its season for the NBA to pick up the slack.

And just like every other year in sports, the NBA will pick up the slack with a bang, kicking off the second half of the season with the 2010 NBA All-Star Game. Yes, it’s the East All-Stars going up against the West All-Stars once again as fans voted in who they feel are the five best players in each conference as All-Star starters.

Leading the East All-Stars this year is leading vote-getter LeBron James. The reigning league MVP got 2,549,693 votes this season, becoming the first player in balloting history to draw at least 2.5 million votes on three separate occasions.

James is making his sixth All-Star appearance and will start for the Eastern Conference for the sixth time in his career. Joining James in the East are Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics, the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade and the Philadelphia 76ers’ Allen Iverson , the 2001 and 2005 All-Star Game MVP.

Among active players, Garnett’s 13th All-Star selection ranks second to Shaquille O’Neal who has 15. Dwight Howard of…

NBA says Nate Robinson doesn’t have to defend his title in the 2010 Slam Dunk Contest but he’s going to anyway

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Because he thought defending slam dunk titles is under NBA rules.

Either that or Nate Robinson is just trying to get everybody’s attention and hype up the All-Star slam dunk contest because the annual event right smack in the middle of the 2010 NBA basketball season has already lost LeBron James

Yup, we won’t be seeing LeBron James after just almost a year ago, he referred to himself in the first, second and third person all at the same time, saying, ”Right now I’m preliminary putting my name in the 2010 contest Saturday night. LeBron James is saying in 2010, in Dallas Stadium, he will compete.”

As far as reigning champion Nate Robinson is concerned, WILL BE because, according to him, ”the champion has to go back.”

Nate Robinson said, ”The NBA, they asked me, ‘Do you want to do it?’ And at first I wasn’t sure. This is my fourth time doing it, so I know people probably get sick of seeing me dunk, but like I said, the champion’s got to go back.”

”And I guess, hopefully, I mean if I don’t win it, it’ll be good because I don’t want to go back no more. But if I do [win], and they want me to go back again, I guess so. Keep going until I lose.”

However, while Robinson believes the NBA is requiring him to defend his title, NBA spokesman Mark Broussard says otherwise. Broussard says the league is NOT requiring Robsinon to participate in the slam dunk contest for the 2010 NBA All-Star Weekend. In other words, they want LeBron and they’re sick and tired of Nate…

This is a classic example why some NBA Fans shouldn’t get to choose the All-Stars for the NBA All-Star Game

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

These fans could care less who they get to the NBA’s midseason extravaganza.

How come? Well, Tracy McGrady COULD START for the Western Conference All-Stars in Dallas. Yep, T-Mac. Boy, is he playing awesome this 2009 NBA basketball season eh?

In what is slowly turning out to be a complete and utter joke, some NBA fans are on the verge of letting a dude who haven’t played a single game this season become an All-Star in Dallas, where the 2010 NBA All-Star Game will be played.

Ain’t that funny? Tracy McGrady could join Kobe Bryant in the Western Conference backcourt. That is a slap in the face to every other guard in the Western Conference. They don’t even have to be better than McGrady this season since the guy HASN’T EVEN SUITED UP FOR A SINGLE FREAKING GAME THIS YEAR.

tracy_mcgradyIf you ask me, there’s this one guy who should get the vote to be a starter in the Western Conference All-Star roster, Brandon Roy. That dude, just like last season, is ballin’ this year and even without Greg Oden for the second straight year, Roy is doing just enough to keep the ship afloat.

Another dude who should get the start alongside Kobe Bryant is Chauncey Billups.

Chauncey Billups is the prototypical point guard and it is because of his leadership that the Denver Nuggets have become one of the elite teams in the West, not to mention help Carmelo Anthony become one of the prime candidates to win league MVP this season.

For a guy like him to get the boot in favor of a dude who is…

The 2009 MLB All-Star Game is on Tuesday

Monday, July 13th, 2009

And while you probably wouldn’t give a flying fuck about it, at least we informed you about it.

That’s right, the 2009 MLB All-Star Game is set this Tuesday as the players fans voted in to play will hope they won’t make an ass of themselves like Brock Lesnar did over the weekend.

So who made the cut? Let’s start with the 2009 MLB National League All-Star starters. The NL team consists of catcher Yadier Molina of the St. Louis Cardinals, and top vote-getter Albert Pujols at first base.

And since Pujols was the leading Derek Jetervote-getter in balloting for the Midsummer Classic, he became the very first Cardinal to start an All-Star game in his home ballpark. ”It feels great to be there and represent the organization and the city you play in,” Albert Pujols said.

Albert Pujols is well on his way to another amazing year, leading the majors with 31 homers and 82 RBIs. He collected 5,397,374 votes to finish with the second-highest total in Major League history, trailing only Ken Griffey Jr.’s six million votes in 1994. Pujols has made the NL team eight times in nine seasons and will be making his sixth start.

The rest of the National League all star infield consists of…

Can Vince Carter help the Orlando Magic?

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgIn case you didn’t know, yes, Vince Carter was sent by the Nets back to Florida to play for the Magic.

Looks like the Orlando Magic, after losing to the Los Angeles Lakers 4-1 in the NBA Finals, are now determined to improve on their last campaign. It looks like they got tired of watching Kobe Bryant torch them from the two-guard spot so they got one who just might keep up with the guy the next time they meet No.24 again for the championship.

Yes, the Orlando Magic will have Vince Carter playing for them once the 2009 NBA basketball season gets here. The addition of VC has enabled the Magic to surround their prized All-Star Dwight Howard with three other All-Stars each capable of helping a team win championships, Rashard Lewis, Jameer Nelson and VC.

Vince CarterIf the Orlando Magic can manage to keep Hedo Turkoglu by the time the new season starts, they’ll end up with a monster starting five of All-Stars with the acquisition of Vince Carter, but at this point, it seems Turkoglu is leaning towards greener pastures.

Still, with Vince Carter on board, the Orlando Magic should still be a heavy favorite to return to the NBA Finals with or without Hedo Turkoglu as long as they can find a way to share the ball between Dwight Howard and VC. Head coach Stan Van Gundy called the move a ‘’statement to our players” that management was intent on winning a championship, not just paying lip service.

Was signing Vince Carter the right move for the…

Recession forcing the Phoenix Suns to trade everybody?

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Clear $40 million off the payroll, that’s what the Suns management aims to do before the trading deadline.

It seems the current economic situation has finally gotten the best of the Phoenix Suns this 2009 NBA basketball season. With an underachieving set of guys who continues to feed off the city’s annual income, thanks to a whopping $75 million payroll, one team’s GM claimed that the Suns’ goal in the next two weeks before the trading deadline was to clear $40 million off the 2009-10 income.

With the current financial crisis and the team still falling behind the Western Conference, it finally seemed illogical for the Phoenix Suns organization to keep all of their big (and expensive…) assets intact.

Amare StoudemireAccording to some sources, EVERY PLAYER NOT NAMED STEVE NASH on the Suns roster is now being made available for trade transactions. At the center of it all is Amare Stoudemire, despite being voted in this year as a starting forward for the 2009 NBA Western Conference All-Stars.

The Suns are also open to the idea of dealing Shaquille O’Neal, another guy who got the go for the All-Star game this year in Phoenix. And with the way he has been playing recently…

2009 NBA All-Stars leave Phoenix on Monday, along with Suns head coach Terry Porter… UGH…

Monday, February 16th, 2009

I guess controlled basketball ain’t the Suns’ thing eh?

There are rumors that claim the Phoenix Suns will fire head coach Terry Porter once the All-Star festivities in Phoenix are over. Nothing is really wrong with Porter’s head coaching abilities this 2008-09 NBA basketball season, it just so happened that the Suns can’t seem to win games with it.

The Phoenix Suns are at 28-23 after a disappointing 6-10 slump heading to the All-Star break and in all fairness to coach Terry Porter, you can’t really blame the guy entirely for it.

I mean, Porter, as the head coach of the Terry PorterPhoenix Suns, has been able to resurrect the career of the seven-foot, 300-pound Shaquille O’Neal, who, before thriving on Porter’s half-court offense, has become dead weight in his last days with the Heat and in Phoenix under former head coach Mike D’Antoni.

Now that Shaquille O’Neal is back to being a double-double guy again, thanks to Porter’s half-court set, he has become invaluable to the Suns roster. Shaq has been such a great asset to Phoenix lately that the Suns are now considering letting Amare Stoudemire go, hoping that Shaq can fill up the slack Amare will be leaving if they do decide to…
