SPORTSBETTING.com is ready for some March Madness

Friday, February 12th, 2010

You ready to rake in some cash on March?

What’s the biggest betting event of the year in North America? Not so fast if you guessed the Super Bowl. While the Super Bowl lays claim to being the largest wagered event of the year, March Madness surpasses the NFL’s crown jewel in total wagering volume, probably because the tourney stretches over three weeks.

There is still a little more than a month of college basketball to be played this 2010 NCAA college basketball season before Selection Sunday, but the talk of ”Bubble” teams and tournament seeds is starting to heat up as we hit the most exciting part of the NCAA hoops schedule.

One of the marquee games of every college b-ball schedule, Duke Blue Devils vs. North Carolina Tar Heels, tipped off already. It was the spotlight game for sports bettors as well, as it attracted the most action on the board. The sports betting public scored a solid win as the Tar Heels took it on the chin.

Online sportsbooks had Duke as a -5.5-point favorite, a number they easily covered and with approximately 75 percent of all the betting volume on the Blue Devils, it was a winner for the players. While NC won the NCAA basketball championship last season, they lost power forward Tyler Hansbrough to the NBA and have been a shadow of their former selves this season.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are near the bottom of the…

2008 NCAA College Football Week 4 Betting Picks

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Week 4 continues with some good games over the weekend.

You read it, the 2008 NCAA college football season resumes Saturday afternoon with some really good games that just might prep you up for the coming big pro NFL games this Sunday.

We start with the Ohio State Buckeyes having another crack at some Trojans. After getting blown away by the Trojans from USC last week, the Buckeyes will have some sort of revenge when they meet another group of Trojans, this time from Troy.

Ohio State has a 2-1 record and Ohio State Buckeyeshave lost just three times in its past 35 games before visiting the top-ranked Trojans in Southern California last week. Two of those losses had come with the national title at stake. The Buckeyes were heavy favorites to beat Florida in the 2007 BCS championship game and lost 41-14, then fell behind by three touchdowns in last season’s title game against LSU.

After losing by 32 to USC, Ohio State this week will face a group of Trojans coming off an even more lopsided win. The Troy Trojans piled up a school-record 736 yards of total offense last Saturday in a 65-0 victory over Alcorn State. The Trojans, members of the Sun Belt conference, have made a habit of visiting top-level opponents since joining…

Big Week 1 in the 2008 NCAA College Football Season

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

We are only days away from football season people.

The 2008 NCAA college football season begins on August 28, Thursday, as the brand new college football year kicks off with a massive 14-game schedule. Yep, it has been a while since we had football and the NCAA is kicking it off with a bang.

There are three exciting games that you should not miss next week, beginning with the 23rd seed Wake Forest Demon Deacons visiting the Baylor Bears to mark the start of this year’s wars on the college gridiron.

Last season proved that the South Carolina Gamecocks2006 success the Wake Forest Demon Deacons put together was no fluke and that the program will continue to be a contender in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Sure, the success was not as substantial but still, with the Demon Deacons putting together a nine-win season, they were able to hang in there atop the Atlantic division race.

With a host of defensive players returning and a majority of the skill players on offense, head coach Jim Grobe will look to take the next big step this year. ”We’ve been in the position before where we’ve come into August without a very good feel about our starters,” coach Jim…

Here are some stories from the March Madness Bracket that the rest of NCAA Basketball witnessed

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

So the Elite Eight of the 2007 March Madness bracket battles are finally here. Now what?

The March Madness bracket tournament has been around for quite some time now and for those of you new to this annual spectacle of NCAA College Basketball, George Mason’s improbable march in last year’s bracket battles is perhaps the single-most significant event you’ll remember.

Aside from George Mason’s Cinderella season last year, there are quite a handful of feel-good stories the March Madness bracket brought to the table. And no, the way Tyler Hansbrough of the North Carolina Tar Heels cried like a bitch after getting popped in the nose is not one of those.

In 1983, watching Jimmy Valvano celebrate after his North Carolina State Wolfpack shock Houston was something. Sidney Lowe led the Wolfpack, letting Valvano parade around the hardwood in a strange gay-like hugging mood. Yep, it was special and somewhat scary at the same time too.

Sidney Lowe is the current mentor of the North Carolina State Wolfpack.

In 1985, the Kansas Jayhawks, the same basketball program included in the ”big four” of the 2007 March Madness bracket battles, proved just how much the crowd can play in the outcome of a basketball game. Hell, they proved just how much the crowd can motivate them towards a title.

Or in this case, prove just how much a crowd in an NCAA College Basketball game piss a team off so hard, that they’ll play twice as hard just to get back at the crowd.

Larry Brown’s Kansas Jayhawks were 12-8 at one point and heard chants of ”NIT, NIT.” However, Danny Manning must not have been listening as he put the Jayhawks on his back and led them to the title. Yep, the Jayhawks sure have a lot of them success stories already before making it to the…

The 2007 March Madness Bracket Battles are Here!

Monday, March 12th, 2007

The seedings are complete, the pressure is on, it’s time to do your best ”Mad Dog” Mark Madsen impersonations this March.

Yep, the 2007 March Madness bracket is finally complete as the defending NCAA College Basketball champions, Florida Gators, bagged the overall No.1 seed for this year’s biggest sports tournament to date.

Despite all their troubles heading to the tournament, March is still Florida’s bitch, and with March here, the Gators have all of a sudden, played just good enough to earn the March Madness bracket’s top spot.

marchmadness_bracket.jpgThe Field of 65 was finalized Sunday as the North Carolina Tar Heels, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Kansas Jayhawks join the defending champions, Gators, at the top, each earning No.1 seeds after winning their respective conference championships.

The Florida Gators, believe it or not, received the overall No.1 seed in the tournament for the very first time despite being ranked as low as No.6 before the SEC Conference championship game. The Gators will be the No.1 seeded team to beat in the Midwest bracket this season.

I don’t know how the heck these guys did it (I guess that has something to do with them winning the SEC Championship…) but I guess they just proved just how much they own the month of March.

The North Carolina Tar Heels bagged the No.1 seed after winning the ACC Conference championship for the first time since 1998. (Go Heels!) It was an all-North Carolina…

This year’s March Madness Bracket Battles have no love for Las Vegas or their beloved Nevada Wolfpack

Sunday, March 4th, 2007

Have you ever wondered what happens to NCAA College Basketball teams who don’t have any potential opponents wanting to play them?

Yep, that’s the dilemma the Nevada Wolfpack are in the past few years. NOBODY wants to play them, imagine that. No NCAA College Basketball team is willing to make that trip to Las Vegas and play the Nevada Wolfpack.

How come? Do these guys have a problem or something earning butt-loads of cash with slot machines and roulette tables in Nevada? Are these guys just plain scared of the Nevada Wolfpack?

Um… NO. The only problem here is, the Wolfpack has never really been that of a media darling, therefore, ESPN don’t cover their games and as a result, there’s no media exposure playing the Wolfpack.

Oh yeah, perhaps the only reason we’re looking for here is, playing the Nevada Wolfpack won’t be profitable.

Nevada Wolfpack head coach Mark Fox said that he couldn’t even get a pair of Big East conference teams to bite on a game in their own arena, with no return trip to Reno.

”Scheduling has been an absolute nightmare for us,” coach Fox said in an interview in his office two weeks ago. ”It’s been, by far, the hardest thing we’ve done. Harder than recruiting, harder than anything. We haven’t been the media darlings, we don’t have ESPN calling us for marquee match-ups.”

THAT means, even if they have a…

Cool as AC in the ACC Conference Football

Saturday, August 5th, 2006

The ACC Conference has been all about college hoops. This season though, football teams in the ACC Conference are looking to change that.

The Clemson Tigers have one heckuva’ team coming to the brand new NCAA Collge Football season. Tommy Bowden has assembled a talented, veteran group to make a run at his father Bobby’s Seminoles.

A seasoned offensive line, solid skill-position players and a sturdy defensive front seven are in place, but the Tigers must avoid the title-stunting letdowns of recent seasons to navigate a tough schedule, which includes September road trips to Boston College and FSU.

The Miami Hurricanes and the North Carolina State Wolfpack have Larry Coker and Chuck Amato, respectively. But NCAA College Football knows that coaching in Miami and North Carolina always put one on the proverbial ‘’hot seat,’’ so to speak.

Not long ago, Coker and Amato were hailed in coaching circles. A 53-9…
