Can’t wait for the football season to start?
We can’t either. And while we wait for the 2010 NCAA college football season to get here, we can take a look at some of these college football programs that are more valuable than that piece of shit you call your car.
Valued at $68 million, the LSU Tigers are a tremendous economic asset to the surrounding community. Besides turning a $39 million overall yearly profit, it is estimated that $8.2 million in direct spending is generated by visitors to East Baton Rouge Parish by each game the Tigers play at the 92,400 seat Tiger Stadium.
With three national titles and thirteen SEC conference titles, the Tigers have an enduring track record of success, which explains the massive influx of visitors to each home game. It’s fair to call the Tigers an economic juggernaut, and it looks to remain that way for the foreseeable future.
The second most valuable Big Ten football team in the country (and eighth overall) is the Ohio State Buckeyes, valued at $85 million by Forbes. It’s a two spot rise for Ohio State, who occupied the 10th spot last time rankings were compiled. It’s also worth noting that Ohio State is the only school to have its teams in the top 10 of Forbes’ football and basketball rankings (its basketball team is the 10th most valuable in the NCAA.)
Interestingly, however, the immense financial and athletic success of the school has not translated to an astronomical coach’s salary. Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel is paid at a level one might expect given the school’s sparking track record.
Valued at $84 million (with profits of $45 million) the Georgia Bulldogs…

Which teams will play for a BCS bowl game?
We’ll know soon enough. But right now, we have games for you to bet on for Week 13 of the 2009 NCAA college football season.
First we have the Oklahoma State Cowboys looking for their fourth straight victory as they battle the Oklahoma Sooners. The 12th Cowboys are on a roll with three straight wins, getting a huge lift from quarterback Zac Robinson.
He set an Oklahoma State record last season by completing 65 percent of his passes and still has a shot at achieving that mark again, completing 158 of 249 passes for a .635 completion percentage in 2009. Also stepping up for the Cowboys is running back Keith Toston. Since taking over as Oklahoma State’s featured rusher, the guy has averaged 103.6 yards.
On the other hand, the Oklahoma Sooners will try to rebound from a 41-13 loss against Texas Tech. With the loss, Oklahoma (6-5, 4-3) now has its most losses since going 7-5 in 1999. It was just the fifth victory in 17 meetings for Texas Tech against the Sooners, and the Red Raiders had never won by more than 10 points in the series.
The huge win was a stunning reversal from last season, when the Sooners crushed Texas Tech 65-21 to end the Red Raiders’ national championship hopes. Oklahoma hadn’t lost this badly since falling to Texas 45-12 in 2005.
Expect the Sooners to bounce back against the…

After 11 weeks of football, majority of the teams looking for a national title come January are still undefeated.
How about that huh? And as Week 12 of the 2009 NCAA college football season continues, these teams are hoping to stay undefeated. They know playing for a national title is as tough as nails and getting the invite to play for a national title is a tad tougher.
One team looking to remain undefeated is the Alabama Crimson Tide. They have the Chattanooga Mocs this Saturday. Can they remain undefeated? Head coach Nick Saban certainly hopes so.
Nick Saban seeks the best effort yet from the second ranked Crimson Tide on Saturday when they host the Chattanooga Mocs in their final non-conference matchup before bowl season. Alabama’s offense relies on their relentless ground game, which averages 216.9 yards, led by sophomore running back Mark Ingram, who already has numbers like 1,297 yards, 10 touchdowns and 6.7 yards per carry. Last week, though, junior quarterback Greg McElroy was also a big factor, throwing for TDs of 48 and 45 yards.
The Tide have put 127 points on the board in three wins outside…

Week 10 of the 2009 NCAA college football season is history and the Florida Gators remain as the no.1 team in the nation.
You read it, the Florida Gators stay at the top of the BCS standings after Week 10. They preserved the number one spot with a 27-3 win over Vanderbilt. The biggest mover this week however was Texas.
That’s right, the Texas Longhorns jumped one place higher to grab the second spot from the Alabama Crimson Tide, who have now dropped to third in the rankings.
If both the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Florida Gators remain undefeated, they will have to
play each other in the Southeastern Conference title game. The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Cincinnati Bearcats round up the top five teams after Week 10 in the BCS Standings.
Teams looking in include the TCU Horned Frogs and the Boise State Broncos, all unbeaten and hoping for the Gators, the Crimson Tide or the Longhorns to slip up.
And since Alabama faces a stiff test Saturday when the LSU Tigers travel to Tuscaloosa, it’s only a matter of time before either of these teams break through the top five.
The TCU Horned Frogs hold a slim lead over the Boise State Broncos in the race to be this season’s BCS buster. Both teams had lopsided victories over the weekend.
Other movers include the Oregon Ducks moving up two…

Seriously, do you really have to know?
We’re asking you that because the way the Florida Gators have been tearing it up this 2009 NCAA college football season, it’s clear who’ll be staying on top of the food chain until the BCS bowl games of January get here.
Yes, the BCS rankings after Week 8 are out and as expected the Florida Gators are still kings. Tim Tebow and the rest of the Gators are 7-0 and first in the SEC. Florida’s latest victim was Mississippi State, winning 29-19 to extend the nation’s longest winning streak to 17.
Breathing down their necks are still the Alabama Crimson Tide. These guys have not allowed a touchdown in eight quarters, ranking fourth overall in defense, allowing just 11.6 points per game. In their last game, they got a huge lift from Terrence Cody as he blocked a 44-yard field-goal attempt on the final play, his second block of the fourth quarter, as ‘Bama escaped with a 12-10 victory over rival Tennessee.
Following at third are the Texas Longhorns with a 7-0 record. The third-ranked Longhorns, with three new starters, began strong, maintained their concentration and cruised to a 41-7 victory to spoil the Tigers’ homecoming in front of a sellout crowd of 71,004 at Faurot Field.
They’ll meet No.15 Oklahoma State in Stillwater next Saturday, a game that probably will decide which team represents the south division in the league championship.
The Boise State Broncos are now ranked at No.4 overall, meaning the Broncos haven’t been…

Surprise surprise.
After all the drama and the emotional comebacks, everything is where it should be at this point of the 2009 NCAA college football season.
You read it, because after watching Tim Tebow go down hard that almost destroyed the world around Gator fans in Florida, the Florida Gators are once again on top of the BCS rankings.
Thanks to Tebow’s surprising return to the Florida Gators roster two weekends ago, the Gators were able to stay undefeated to be named no.1 in this season’s first BCS rankings. Their first test as the nation’s no.1 team this year is on Saturday when they go up against Mississippi State.
Not far behind are the Alabama Crimson Tide. Second in every statistical category compiled by the USA Today coaches’ poll and the Harris poll, the Crimson Tide is easily Florida’s biggest threat, so far anyway. If both the Gators and the Crimson Tide remain undefeated, they will play each other in the Southeastern Conference championship. A prelude to the BCS national championship game perhaps?
Sitting on third are the Texas Longhorns, joining Florida and Alabama in the top three. With the strength of their schedule, all three just need to win out to reach the BCS national championship game on January 7 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. At least that’s according to BCS analyst (yes, the BCS has analysts…) Jerry Palm.
The problem is, it seems history is not on their side…

Bradford’s back. That’s everything you need to know this week.
Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford and the rest of the Oklahoma Sooners are ready to face the Texas Longhorns this Saturday as the 2009 NCAA college football season continues with Week 7.
Sam Bradford had 49 throws in a 33-7 for the Oklahoma Sooners over Baylor. Bradford threw for 389 yards and a touchdown after missing the last month with a sprained AC joint in his right, throwing shoulder. It was the 14th 300-yard passing game of his career, matching the school record set by 2000 Heisman runner-up Josh Heupel.
If there’s still any questions on Bradford’s health, he sure answered those in emphatic fashion.
”I think that’s something that we were all curious around here is how I would react to 3 1/2-4 hours in my pads, on and off, not throwing the whole time, kind of sitting on the bench, coming back and making some throws,” Sam Bradford said. ”I felt like my arm responded great, and I felt good out there.”
”To have been off as much as he has and go out there in his first go at it to play as well as he did, I thought he played great,” Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said. ”He stays away from the poor, the negative plays or the bad plays and he had a great night.”
The undefeated Texas Longhorns, on the other hand, look to…

Let’s just put it this way, how important is Superman to Metropolis?
You can just imagine how worried the Florida Gators have been after watching their prized quarterback get carried off the field. And since we are only in the first few weeks of the still young 2009 NCAA college football season, what happens from here will dictate if they can still compete for the national title come January.
In case you didn’t know, Tim Tebow was taken out of their game against the Kentucky Wildcats after he was sacked hard by defensive end Taylor Wyndham. Tebow’s head hit his teammate Marcus Gilbert on the leg, bending his neck violently.
Of course, since the Florida Gators are looking to defend their national championship, this is a huge blow to their campaign this season. Tebow is the focal point of the Gators offense. He is a quarterback who can run with the football as good as he can throw it. He is arguably the best college football player to ever play for Florida and with him out, the SEC becomes a free for all for teams like the LSU Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide who are both looking to take advantage of a Tebow – less conference.
Tebow began his college career as a role player, getting on the field in goal-line and short-yardage situations. But it didn’t take a while for him to become team captain, a Heisman Trophy winner and a two-time national champion.
He set records, made history and picked up enough…

Yep, he’s down and out.
And just like that, the entire complexion of the 2009 NCAA college football season has changed. Can the Florida Gators remain on top without their prized quarterback? And we thought the injury to Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford was big.
You read it, Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow, regarded by many as the best quarterback in college football today, is out with an injury after getting knocked out in their game against the Kentucky Wildcats last weekend.
Sure, the Florida Gators won the game, 41-7, but after losing Tim Tebow that way that fast, the Gators may have lost a heck of a whole lot than what they gained from beating the Wildcats last Saturday.
With the Florida Gators in control of the game, leading the Kentucky Wildcats 31-7 in the third quarter and driving deep in Kentucky territory, Gators QB Tim Tebow was sacked hard by…

This is a huge one with both teams desperately needing a win.
Week 5 of the 2009 NCAA college football season continues with a non-conference game that can be considered potentially risky on both ends as the Oklahoma Sooners visit the Miami Hurricanes.
The Miami Hurricanes are coming off of a beat down at the hands of ACC Coastal division rivals Virginia Tech last week, so this could be a bad time for the Bradford-less Sooners to visit the Hurricanes.
Sure, the Oklahoma Sooners have been rolling over opponents in the past couple weeks, but then again, they haven’t played a ranked team since BYU in the opening week, a game in which Oklahoma was shutdown and upset by the Cougars.
The Sooners hope Sam Bradford can return from a two-game absence and complement their outstanding defense playing their fourth successive game against a ranked team.
Sam Bradford won the Heisman last season and finished with 4,720 yards and 50 touchdown passes. He decided to return to Oklahoma for another chance at a national title after falling short in the championship game in January. Unfortunately for him, the 2009 season got off to a rocky start when he suffered a shoulder injury in a season-opening 14-13 loss to then No.20 BYU.
The last time these two teams met, the Sooners simply…
