Dana White doesn’t want to hump Kimbo Slice

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgApparently, that’s what the UFC president wants you to think.

In case you didn’t know, Kimbo Slice is a part of the Ultimate Fighter 10 and UFC president Dana White has already made it public that Kimbo will fight inside the Octagon no matter what happens in the show and despite the fact that Kimbo lost his first fight in it.

And since Kimbo Slice already lost to a fat-ass like Roy Nelson before Dana White made it public that he’s going to the UFC anyway, it is only normal for some people to think that Kimbo is getting some sort of ‘’special treatment” from the UFC president.

kimbo_sliceWhen White was asked if it was true, his reaction didn’t surprise me at all.

”That’s bullshit,” Dana White said speaking to the claim made by some of the other fighters on the show that Kimbo had some sort of special treatment, including having his entourage, including his wife and kids, at his fight.

”His wife and kids were never there. His manager was there.”

”Let me tell you what, I’ve never seen such fucking crybabies in my entire life as the heavyweights. It’s unbelievable. The only difference with Kimbo and the other guys on the show was that if Kimbo made it to the UFC, his contract would be bigger than the others.”

As for the guy who beat Kimbo Slice in Ultimate Fighter 10…

Fights to Bet on in UFC 104 at the Staples Center

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

And we have quite a few matches that should be interesting.

In case you didn’t know, the UFC light heavyweight title will be up for grabs as Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida will defend his belt versus Mauricio Shogun Rua in UFC 104 this Saturday at the Staples Center.

Defending UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida, unbeaten after 18 fights, have an impenetrable defense due to his Karate style of fighting as he has shown in wins over BJ Penn, Rich Franklin, Tito Ortiz, Thiago Silva and Rashad Evans, from whom he won the light heavyweight title on punches this past May.

ufc_chickThe only downside for Machida is his lack of aggressiveness. It’s a good thing he generally does not make himself vulnerable to opponents. If Shogun makes even the slightest of mistakes this weekend, expect Machida to capitalize on them.

However, Mauricio Shogun Rua is an experienced and accomplished opponent for the defending champion, and though many think he’s a bit over the hill and has dealt with numerous injuries, this former Pride FC champ has lost just one of his last seven fights. In his last two bouts, he’s beaten Chuck Liddell and Mark Coleman, two future Hall of Famers of the sport. He has also beaten the likes of Quentin Rampage Jackson, Kevin Randleman and Alistair Overeem. The big question now is, can he do it again?

Another fight to watch this weekend is this face-off between…

Kimbo Slice Spoilers in Ultimate Fighter 10

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Apparently, somebody leaked out some info on Kimbo’s little adventure in the latest season of the Ultimate Fighter.

Yes, everybody’s looking for some info on what exactly happened to Kimbo Slice in the Ultimate Fighter 10. In case you didn’t know, he’s trying to go legit now as he try to climb inside the Octagon through Dana White’s Ultimate Fighter reality show. Unfortunately for Kimbo, it didn’t go very well.

According to some rumors, Kimbo Slice lost by brutal knockout in the first round of his fight and then storms out of the house afterwards. This is according to a forum post from a Wes Sims, a fighter who was also competing in TUF 10.

kimbo_sliceUnfortunately, Sims (or some random dude posting as Sims…) didn’t specify if Slice lost to Roy Nelson or not.

There’s also this one rumor that claims Slice winning his first fight in the house, beating Roy Nelson via split decision. The call was very controversial and for the first time in TUF history, UFC president Dana White was offered the power to overturn the judges’ decision but decided…

Who made the final cut for 2009 NBA All-Star Game?

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgThe representatives for both the Eastern and Western Conference were finally determined.

With the 2009 NBA All-Star Game only a few more days away, we finally learned who among the league’s top players will be representing the two conferences for the mid-season classic.

And since this year’s All-Star game will be in Phoenix, let’s start with the two guys who’ll be representing the host city on February 15, Suns forward Amare Stoudemire, who was voted in as a starter, and Suns center Shaquille O’Neal, voted in as a reserve by NBA coaches.

Chauncey BillupsYou read it, Shaquille O’Neal is back in the All-Star game, moving past NBA greats such as Michael Jordan, Karl Malone and Jerry West to land in second place in the all-time All-Star appearances made by an NBA player. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who was selected 19 times, still leads everybody.

The 2009 NBA Western Conference All-Stars will be led by reigning NBA MVP Kobe Bryant. He will be joined by New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul in the West’s starting backcourt.

Rounding up the Western starters are Tim Duncan and Yao Ming, joining Stoudemire in the frontcourt.

Joining Shaq as a reserve for the 2009 NBA Western Conference All-Stars include…

Your 2008 NBA Season Gambling Guide for Tuesday

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

It’s Tuesday and once again, we’re bringing you the games you can bet on in the Association.

The 2007-08 NBA basketball season resumes with an eight-game schedule you’ll probably go ga-ga about. If you like cricket instead of NBA hoops, I guess there’s really nothing much we can do for you.

The Atlanta Hawks, led by one of the youngest and most intriguing rosters in the league with the addition of Mike Bibby, are in the hunt for an Eastern Conference playoff spot this season. Atlanta is set to meet the Golden State Warriors at the Phillips Arena on Tuesday night. Atlanta currently holds the ninth spot in the Eastern Conference and tries to bounce back in the winning column.

Chauncey BillupsGolden State Warriors guard Baron Davis, on the other hand, will try to lead the Warriors to their fourth straight win. Warriors hold the eight and final spot in the tight Western Conference of the 2008 NBA. Atlanta Hawks guards Acie Law and Speedy Claxton will not play for the Hawks, while Warriors center Andries Beidrins will be in street clothes due to appendicitis.

Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson and Rashard Lewis have the Orlando Magic in position to win the Southeast Division this season as they host the Toronto Raptors at Amway Arena in Orlando. Led by Raptors forward Chris Bosh, Toronto tries to…

So let me get this right, Chile loses their manager, gets beaten up by Brazil and gets drunk? Nice…

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Yep, apparently, a lot of things happened to team Chile lately that they earned themselves a mention here on OddJack.

Six players, that includes Chile team captain Jorge Valdivia, were suspended by Chile’s soccer federation from the upcoming World Cup qualifiers after acting like complete intoxicated morons during the 2007 Copa America tournament in Venezuela.

Team captain Jorge Valdivia led his teammates Jorge Vargas, Pablo Contreras, Reinaldo Navia, Rodrigo Tello and Alvaro Ormeno to a somewhat stupid drinking spree that got them destroying furniture in their hotel lobby, not to mention insulting other hotel guests.

drunk_chick.jpgHe he… Pathetic eh? In my case, whenever I get my ass so drunk that I begin to see Homer Simpson banging Cinderella in my rearview mirror, I simply come to work and write for this site.

The suspensions came a day after Chile team manager Nelson Acosta resigned after he saw his Chile team (who were apparently not drunk YET…) get blown out by a more determined Brazil national team.

”I’m leaving the team so that there’s enough time to choose, calmly and without…”

Betting at Oscars 2007: So predictable you can’t lose? (1 of 2)

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

And the Oscar goes to… All over again…

The road to the 2007 Oscar Awards is so straight and narrow it might as well lead to heaven. Which it likely will for at least four people everyone’s expecting to win: Forest Whitaker, Helen Mirren, Eddie Murphy, and Jennifer Hudson.

Not only do we suspect they’ll win, we can practically see how they’ll take it. But if Oscar predictability is bad news for film buffs, it is good news for proposition betting. There is almost no losing money on the dead foreseeable turn-out of the 79th Academy Awards, to be held on February 25th, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres.

Below, find some Oscar predictables, er, Oscar predictions on who and what we ought to be ready for.

If Forest Whitaker wins Oscar Best Actor, prepare for Jamie Foxx meets the Rainman. His thank-you’s will be 50% fanatical thanking in stutters and broken sentences, 50% gasping for air in disbelief. “Wow… wow…” How many wins does Forest need to start believing his luck?

Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role has Forest Whitaker for The Last King of Scotland with 2/13 odds to win at Bodog film betting online. Peter O’Toole for Venus has odds of 4/1, a record 44 years apart from the last time he earned any Oscar nomination.

Will Smith for The Pursuit of Happyness has 9/1 odds to win, and will simply have to try harder by cutting his romantic comedies down to half. Leonardo DiCaprio for Blood Diamond has 14/1 odds, but who knows how much harder he can try after multiple nominations at the 2007 Golden Globes? Ryan Gosling for Half Nelson has 20/1, which is okay as he had won MTV Movie Awards‘ Best Kiss already.

If Helen Mirren wins Oscar Best Actress, prepare to shout, ‘Long Live the Queen!’, regardless of which queen you mean. But you’d be ill-advised to refer to 2007 Razzie queen Sharon Stone, who can take the cue from Helen, Judi, Cate, and Jeremy Irons: If you want…

Wait a minute… We are STILL the Champs

Monday, March 6th, 2006

Ignored, bastardized and laughed at.

That’s exactly what the North Carolina Tar Heels turned out to become this year but last Saturday, they made sure that the rest of NCAA College Basketball remembered that they are STILL the defending NCAA Champions.

The North Carolina Tar Heels, ranked 15 as of press time, created quite a stir when they bashed the no.1 ranked team in the country today, the Duke Blue Devils, with an improbable 83-76 win in front of their adoring crowd.

What could’ve possibly energized these Tar Heels to come out strong…
