Is Tracy McGrady enough to lure LeBron James in NY?

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

If they do, then you can bet your ass the Knicks will be the team to beat next season.

After getting the services of multi – time All – Star Tracy McGrady this 2010 NBA basketball season from a three team trade with the Houston Rockets and the Sacramento Kings, the New York Knicks were able to clear enough salary-cap space for the Knicks to possibly sign two maximum-salary free agents this summer.

That’s right, the New York Knicks could recruit LeBron James by giving him the option of choosing which other free agent he wants from the likes of Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Joe Johnson, Amare Stoudemire and Dirk Nowitzki.

However, getting LeBron James out of Cleveland won’t be easy since the Cavs, who own the league’s best record, bolstered their lineup with the addition of former Wizards forward Antawn Jamison. If Cleveland advances to its second NBA Finals stint in four years with LeBron, the odds of him leaving his home state figure to be diminished.

Sorry Knicks fans.

The New York Knicks aren’t the only team to clear cap space. The Chicago Bulls, a team featuring point guard Derrick Rose and a better core group of players than…

Stephon Marbury to play for a Chinese basketball team

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Apparently, some Chinese guy wants to torture a few Chinese basketball fans.

In case you haven’t noticed, Stephon Marbury, after helping the Boston Celtics lose miserably to the Orlando Magic in last year’s playoffs, is nowhere to be found this 2010 NBA basketball season.

That’s because Stephon Marbury decided to leave the Celtics to take a break from basketball. Of course, you’re a jackass if you believe Marbury. And since I’m clearly not one, I wasn’t surprised to learn that Marbury decided to play hoops again, in China.

That’s right, the guy Mike D’Antoni spitted out of the NBA, will play for Shanxi in the Chinese Basketball Association. And just like that, Marbury became the highest profile American to play in the Chinese basketball pro league.

The last dude from the NBA who played here was Bonzi Wells and he averaged 50 points per game. If Marbury can’t score here then he better just pursue something else, like an acting career or something. I hear he can be funny in front of a camera.

But seriously, is signing Marbury really something you want? He hasn’t been the same since he left Phoenix for New York and after D’Antoni virtually destroyed whatever it is he…

Is Allen Iverson considering retirement from the NBA?

Monday, November 16th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgLooks like being benched in Memphis is really getting to Iverson now.

A.I. was really hoping for better things coming to the 2009 NBA basketball season. People following him on Twitter know that. But after an auspicious start to the season and realizing that he will still be relegated as a bench player in Memphis like he was in Detroit last year, Iverson ain’t happy with the Grizzlies no more and now, rumors claim that he’s already contemplating on retirement because of it.

Yes, Allen Iverson, the former league MVP and multi-time scoring champion, is on the brink of walking away from his career. Things haven’t been working out as Iverson had hoped in Memphis and since his new head coach Lionel Hollins ain’t budging, rumors claim that Iverson could take the easy way out, retire.

allen_iversonStill, Memphis Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley has shot down the idea that Iverson is already considering retirement. For all ya’ll who didn’t know, Iverson took a leave of absence from the Grizzlies for ”personal reasons,” and as far as Heisley is concerned, retirement is not one of ‘em.

”I expect him to come back,” Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley said. ”If he does retire, I’ll be tremendously disappointed. I feel bad because I don’t think that’s the way he should go out.”

He’s right. Iverson is only averaging 12.3 points and 3.7 assists in 22.3 minutes per game this season and by Iverson’s standards, those are unacceptable numbers. But hey, at least…

NY Knicks Rookie Danilo Gallinari returns home to Italy

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

No, he hasn’t grown tired of playing for the Knicks, YET.

The New York Knicks are, once again, having a tumultuous year this 2009 NBA basketball season.

Aside from the head coaching change to start the season and the entire Stephon Marbury – Mike D’Antoni drama, the Knicks are nowhere near playoff contention with only a few more games remaining before the ‘’second season” starts.

As if that wasn’t enough, the New York Knicks just saw their situation go from bad to worse. Danilo Gallinari, probably the only remaining bright spot in the future of Knicks basketball, left New York to head back home to Italy.

Danilo GallinariAnd while we can speculate why Danilo Gallinari left, the Knicks claim that Gallinari left the team to meet with specialists in Italy for his ailing back.

Apparently, the rookie has been troubled by his back since last summer and has already met with four surgeons in New York since being drafted by the Knicks.

Four consultations later, his back still hurts. And now, the Knicks let him fly back home to Italy where ”real” doctors reside.

”He does not want to hurt the team, he does not want to play bad and he wants to have a great future with the Knicks…”

Knicks don’t give a shit about Stephon Marbury leaving

Friday, February 27th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYes, they finally released the disgruntled guard.

After the war of words between Stephon Marbury and the entire New York Knicks front office this 2008-09 NBA basketball season, team president Donnie Walsh finally gave Stephon what he has been asking all year, his freedom.

Marbury’s exit in New York marks the end of an era in New York Knicks basketball. He was supposed to keep things interesting and competitive since Allan Houston and Latrell Sprewell left. Unfortunately for Knicks fans, it didn’t work out.

Understandably, the rest of the team seemed Stephon Marburyunfazed with the idea that Stephon Marbury is now out for good. I can’t blame them too, since Nate Robinson is doing one helluva’ job filling the point guard slot, the Knicks probably won’t miss their banished problem child this year.

Steph’ hasn’t been around that much this season anyway to merit some sort of a concern from his teammates.

”He hasn’t really been seen in a little while,” Knicks forward David Lee said after a morning shootaround with his teammates. ”Almost somewhat of a dead issue for us because we knew at some point it would probably happen.”

New York Knicks head coach Mike D’Antoni, the one who probably started…

Dumars, trade Allen Iverson away from the Pistons now

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgI guess that’s what everybody from Detroit should be lobbying.

Seems it was so long ago when the Detroit Pistons had their fast start to the 2008-09 NBA basketball season, leading the Eastern Conference and looked like another trip to the conference finals imminent.

Then BANG, Detroit Pistons general manager Joe Dumars decided to fix something that ain’t broke in the first place, sending Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess to Denver in exchange for Allen Iverson, the guy Dumars was hoping to finally be able to get the Pistons past the conference finals and back in the championship series.

42 games later, the Detroit Pistons are still nowhere near that goal. Hell, they are 21-21 Allen Iversonwith Allen Iverson and with the rate they are going, they might not even get to the conference finals, thus breaking their streak of six straight years of playing for the Eastern Conference title.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to determine that trading for Allen Iverson was a big mistake. For what it’s worth, the Pistons organization can still correct their own blunder but with the trading deadline drawing near, they better move A.I. now before it’s too late.

Dumars admits that he’s open to moving Allen Iverson. Dumars initially saw Iverson as someone who could take his team to the next level, perhaps keeping them relevant in an Eastern Conference that…

Mike D’Antoni is changing the NBA this 2009 Season

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Ah… Mike D’Antoni, the guy with a large D on his name but refuses to play D on the basketball court.

In case you haven’t taken a gander at the guy, Mike D’Antoni is the current head coach of the New York Knicks this 2008-09 NBA basketball season. And aside from simply bastardizing the legacy Stephon Marbury was hoping to have when he finally retires, D’Antoni is changing the NBA slowly but surely.

Just so you know, it has been well documented that defense wins championships. Since the 1988-89 Detroit Pistons won the NBA title through defense, every NBA champion since has been playing from the same style.

Mike D’Antoni on the other hand, Al Harringtonlikes to put up huge numbers on the scoreboard, with a simple mentality that if they ended up with more points than the other team, they’ll eventually win the game.

And it doesn’t matter to him too if he’s with a powerhouse team than can score effortlessly or a fucked up one like the New York Knicks.

Since Mike D’Antoni left the Phoenix Suns to take over the head coaching job in New York, we’ve already seen some changes that proves D’Antoni is this generation’s trend setter in basketball.

All of a sudden, Al Harrington is putting up 20 to 30 points a night, David Lee is becoming one of the top five guys this season playing his…

A Kevin Garnett – Stephon Marbury reunion in Boston?

Friday, January 9th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgIt’s possible people.

While the drama between Stephon Marbury and the New York Knicks organization continues this 2009 NBA basketball season, the idea of Stephon reuniting with Kevin Garnett, his former teammate in Minnesota, in Boston is quickly becoming a reality than a possibility.

You read it, the Boston Celtics have intentions of signing the Knicks disgruntled guard Stephon Marbury and if the Celtics management really really wants him, they have Kevin Garnett’s blessing.

After all, Kevin Garnett knows what Kevin Garnett Stephon MarburyMarbury can bring on the court. They were two-thirds of the young three-headed monster the Minnesota Timberwolves once had a few years ago when KG and Starbury, together with Tom Gugliotta, once formed one of the most formidable threesomes in basketball.

Oh yeah, KG was disappointed too when the Wolves organization decided to let Stephon Marbury go. That was the start of quite a long spell for KG trying to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to the playoffs by his lonesome.

Now that he’s a world champion still playing for a legitimate title contender in Boston with two other guys that can definitely take the burden off him offensively, you can bet your ass he’s…

Stephon Marbury was told by Donnie Walsh to stay the fuck away from his New York Knicks

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Until those guys from the front office figures out what the fuck they wanna’ do with him.

Yes, you read it, Stephon Marbury was told to stay away from the New York Knicks this 2008-09 NBA basketball season. Of course, if you’ve been following the NBA lately, especially if you’re a fan from New York, you probably saw this one coming. What is surprising is the fact that the Knicks haven’t gotten rid of him yet.

Until the New York Knicks front office figures out a way to ultimately get rid of Marbury, the disgruntled guard was told to stay away from the team for the time being. That means NO GAMES, NO PRACTICES, hell, he can’t even watch the games live.

Knicks president Donnie WalshStephon Marbury initially offered a buyout but unfortunately, Stephon Marbury wasn’t satisfied with it after a brief 15-minute meeting. Marbury’s attorney, Hal Biagas spent another 20 minutes with Walsh before leaving and telling the rest of the world that this saga between the Knicks and his client has not come to a conclusion.

In a statement, Walsh said, ”After meeting with Stephon and his representative this afternoon, we have directed Stephon not to participate in practice or attend games until further notice. We want to continue to meet with him to discuss a long-term resolution.”

That ”long-term resolution” is already pointing towards a bitter…

Celtics host Knicks without suspended Kevin Garnett

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgAfter bitch slapping a poor Aussie, Kevin Garnett will be out for his team’s game this Tuesday. Thankfully, it’s against the Knicks.

Scuffles on the court are turning into quite a trend in the first few weeks of the 2008-09 NBA basketball season. After seeing one in Phoenix between the Suns and the Rockets, another scuffle transpired in Milwaukee where the 6′11” Garnett hit the flimsy Aussie Andrew Bogut last weekend.

Apparently, the incident happened after Andrew Bogut hit Kevin Garnett while drawing a foul on the fiery veteran. Bogut’s left arm caught KG in the mouth on the way down. Garnett responded with an open-hand swipe, bitch slapping Bogut like a moron.

Of course, the Milwaukee Bucks argued Kevin Garnettthat Bogut’s hit on the Boston Celtics forward was purely unintentional. But since players have already been warned during each team’s annual preseason seminar with NBA officials that players have to be responsible for any contact with their elbows, intentional or not, it was Bogut’s responsibility not to catch Garnett’s mug with his elbow.

And after Bogut got bitch slapped in front of their fans, the Milwaukee Bucks ultimately lost to Boston, 102-97 in overtime. Talk about one long night for the Aussie eh?

The Celtics have the New York Knicks next in Boston and after KG hit Andrew Bogut
