Sure, he had his glory days with the Titans but the Ravens were the last team to give the guy a chance before his untimely death last Sunday.
In what has been one of the more shocking news of the 4th of July weekend, former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was killed in Nashville, Tennessee due to fatal gunshot wounds.
You read it, the NFL lost one of its football heroes last Sunday when McNair, who was 36, was found dead by the police in his condominium in Nashville. McNair was shot four times, twice in the head and twice in the chest.
The police is ruling it a homicide after they found the lifeless body of the former Baltimore Ravens quarterback along with his 20-year-old girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, who was also shot in the head. The police also found a semi-automatic pistol underneath Kazemi’s body.
According to the police, there were no signs of forced entry into the Nashville apartment but they didn’t speculate in their statement on whether Kazumi is believed to have murdered McNair and committed suicide.
”While it is clear McNair’s death is a homicide, the…”

I guess Vince Young wouldn’t need to run all them yards while trying to throw it to a receiver who can’t catch anything other than herpes.
We’re STILL more than a few months away from the 2008-09 NFL football season and we already have teams wheelin’ and dealin’ for a chance to win the season’s Super Bowl title.
The latest of which are the Tennessee Titans. When they drafted Vince Young, it finally got them the star they were looking for at the quarterback position since Steve McNair left.
The only problem is, Vince Young literally had nobody to throw the football to. That’s probably why you see the guy run with the football more than simply staying inside the pocket and let it fly.
Well, that problem may be over because the Titans franchise just signed a huge target for the explosive young (pun intended…) Vince Young. Yes people, the Titans just pried Alge Crumpler out of the Atlanta Falcons.
Ugh… That’s another Falcon leaving the nest. At least this dude…

So much for the ‘Steelers Killer’ eh?
The dreaded Steel Curtain just caught its sixth victim of the 2007-08 NFL football season as the Pittsburgh defense held the ‘Steelers Killer’ Steve McNair and the rest of his Baltimore Ravens to a measly seven points, en route to a whopping 38-7 win for Pittsburgh.
With McNair’s record against the Pittsburgh Steelers, many thought that McNair will have yet another career game throwing all those touchdowns over the Pittsburgh defense. Hell, McNair himself probably thought that too. He didn’t expect that it’ll be the other way around this fateful Monday night.
This night, it was Pittsburgh
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger throwing all those TDs over the defense. Hell, with the Baltimore Ravens defense, one of the better defenses in all of football, in front of him, Roethlisberger seemed unconvinced why this defense was so feared by some.
Ben Roethlisberger tied a Steelers record for touchdowns in a single game, throwing FIVE to humble the great Baltimore Ravens stronghold. Roethlisberger was on the Baltimore defense right from the get-go too as he led his team to TWO quick drives with touchdowns in the very first quarter.
Roethlisberger connected with Heat Miller for a…

It’s Monday Night Football, that’s right, you can stop talking about that game between the Patriots and the Colts now.
As Week 9 of the 2007-08 NFL football season concludes with yet another edition of football’s primetime marketing giant, that being NFL Monday Night Football, we’re probably in for one defensive game that the only way a team can score against the other team is put Kobe Bryant behind center.
Yep, defensive powerhouse teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens dance on Monday night as two of the top defensive-minded forces in football today collide to determine which one can hold their opponent from scoring even a single field goal longer.
Well, the last time these two teams met, the Baltimore Ravens ran up the scoreboard while giving the Steelers a rather difficult time scoring anything. The Ravens won the last two games against Pittsburgh by a total score of 58-7 and whenever a Ravens team that is focused primarily on D beats you down like that, something’s definitely wrong big time.
Then again, it probably is because of the fact that Baltimore Ravens quarterback Steve McNair plays so much better against Pittsburgh’s ‘Steel Curtain’ that he is now regarded by some as the biggest ‘Steelers killer’ of all time.
Steve McNair beat the Pittsburgh Steelers nine out of…

It’s offense versus defense at the AFC Divisional Playoff game on Saturday in Baltimore.
Yep, the Indianapolis Colts, having survived the futile effort put up by the Kansas City Chiefs last Saturday, will move on to yet another Saturday showdown. THIS TIME, they will be visiting the Baltimore Ravens and no, Baltimore won’t try to outrun them at the scoreboard.
They will simply stop Indianapolis. Plain and simple.
Time and time again, we hear about how great the Baltimore Ravens defense is. Heck, I can’t even stop writing about it here on OddJack. On Saturday, expect the Baltimore defense to crank it up a level higher.
The Ravens will win this AFC Divisional Playoff game on Saturday if Baltimore’s defense gets Peyton Manning moving his feet in the pocket. The Ravens were second in the league in sacks (60) and first in sack yards (418), and the unit featured five players with five or more sacks, led by defensive end Trevor Pryce, with 13.
However, just like Baltimore, Indianapolis will also have their own defense as the key to winning this NFL Football game.
All the talk was about Indianapolis’ defense and how it will ultimately cost Peyton Manning yet another post-season. Well, if the Colts defense can have…

Air McNair.
Yep, that’s the nickname Steve McNair have in NFL Football with his knack for throwing looong passes for huge yardage. Well, Air McNair is, as of press time, grounded with an injury and it is still questionable if Air McNair can fly with his Ravens on Sunday when they take on the defending Super Bowl champs, Pittsburgh Steelers.
Despite this, Baltimore Ravens head coach Brian Billick remained optimistic about Steve McNair’s chances of starting Sunday at Pittsburgh but indicated that he might limit the quarterback in practice.
Coach Brian Billick knows what Steve McNair has brought to the Ravens this season after they snatched the guy away from the Tennessee Titans. And yep, Billick is definitely stressing about this injury.
Steve McNair left Sunday’s 27-17 win over the Cleveland Browns after the Ravens’ second series when he got his throwing hand stepped on by 254-pound…

Wow, who would’ve thought the Denver Broncos can beat the Baltimore Ravens in their own game?
The Denver Broncos showed tremendous defense on NFL Monday Night Football to defeat what is probably the top defensive NFL Football team in the league today, the Baltimore Ravens.
Yep, the Ravens’ unblemished record is no more.
”Offensively we struggled, but we managed to move the ball a little bit in the
fourth quarter against an excellent defense,” Denver Broncos head coach, Mike Shanahan, said after Denver handed Baltimore its first loss in five games.
”That’s what good football teams do, they find a way to move the ball and score some points when you have to. Obviously, we have some work to do on [the offensive] side of the ball,” Shanahan adds.
Well, considering the way the Broncos played defense on NFL Monday Night Football, these guys don’t have to. Heck, the Broncos defense held Ravens QB, Steve McNair, without any TD completion to show for.
And that is after McNair came off two straight…

Perfect. That’s exactly how one would describe the Baltimore Ravens at this point of the season.
On NFL Monday Night Football, Ray Lewis and the rest of the awesome Baltimore Ravens defensive unit will be taking on Jake ‘The Snake’ Plummer and his Denver Broncos. And oh yeah, the Ravens defense is the least of the Broncos’ worries as a man who goes by the name of Steve McNair will be looking to lead Baltimore for their fifth straight win.
Jeezus… This game on NFL Monday Night Football won’t be pretty for the home team.
Both the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos are having a great season so far. Jake Plummer and his
Broncos team are currently at 2-1 now as they host the still perfect Ravens and hope that they can break through that defense in front of their adoring home crowd.
The only problem is, these Broncos fans in Denver won’t be having anything to cheer about come game time.
Baltimore has put together the first 4-0 start in their history and is one of only three teams, along with the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears, to remain unbeaten through the season’s first four weeks. To keep their unblemished record intact, however, the Ravens will have to knock off a Denver squad which has won 11 consecutive regular season games at home.
A fearsome defense that stands near the top of the NFL in every major…

Who would’ve thought an old fart would shine in what was perceived to be a battle between the top two defenses in NFL Football?
Yep, it seems Steve McNair STILL has all the weapons to get the job done. McNair, coming off an incredible 15-14 comeback win over the Cleveland Browns in Ohio, did it again, THIS TIME against the San Diego Chargers, picking the Baltimore Ravens, including himself, off the canvas. Ravens win 16-13.
This NFL Football game between the unbeaten Baltimore Ravens and the undefeated San Diego Chargers was anticipated to be one huge heavyweight bout between the top two defenses in the league.
The Ravens knew it. And to prepare them in one of the tougher NFL Football games of the season, Ravens head coach, Brian Billick, let his players watch the 1985 fight between Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Thomas ”Hit Man” Hearns.
He he… Anything to keep these Ravens focused huh?
And boy, did it worked for them perfectly. Just when the rest of NFL Football thought that the San Diego Chargers are now the new bullies in town defensively, the Ravens offense jumped on Steve McNair’s sore back and let the old guy…

Yep, that could be a possibility when the San Diego Chargers visit the Baltimore Ravens for NFL Sunday Night Football.
Coming to this game, the San Diego Chargers come in as the ‘’new blood,’’ the new bullies in town, if you will. Well, that’s what the Chargers showed us anyway in their last two NFL Football games.
San Diego Chargers linebacker, Shawne Merriman is already establishing himself as the league’s best defensive player. And mind you, he’s only in his second year as an NFL Football player.
Also, the San Diego Chargers have defensive end Luis Castillo, the same man who is now being regarded as the best
defensive end to come into the NFL in the past five years. As unblockable as Shawne Merriman is, THIS guy is as unstoppable.
The San Diego Chargers, with these guys in uniform, now have the no.1 ranked defense in the league. On Sunday, these Chargers will visit the Baltimore Ravens, a team known in the NFL of one thing and one thing only, shutting any team’s offense down.
The Baltimore Ravens have been shutting opponents down for more than a decade now. And yes, defensive icon Ray Lewis has always been the…
