Can A-Rod finally get his 600th homerun vs. Toronto?

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

He better, because this slump he’s been having lately isn’t helping his team one bit.

The New York Yankees Tuesday night found themselves in a place they hadn’t seen since June 13 this 2010 MLB baseball season, second place in the AL East. They found themselves there after dropping their third straight game, a miserable 8-2 loss to Toronto at Yankee Stadium, and discovering that the Rays had beaten Minnesota.

These New York Yankees reached this spot because of some poor hitting against Tampa over the weekend, and some even worse hitting Tuesday night. How do you explain Jays starter Ricky Romero giving up just two hits (one was a two-run homer to Mark Teixeira in the first) in a complete game against the Yankees lineup?

Somehow we have to figure out whether this loss to the Blue Jays had anything to do with Alex Rodriguez missing the team photo before the game. Somehow I doubt it, but the big guy is still struggling to hit No. 600. He has been stuck at 599 since July 22. That’s 12 games if you’re counting.

The Yankees were leading the division by four games since the day after this quest for 600 started. Since then they have dropped five games in the standing. Coincidence? You be the judge.

Rodriguez’s quest for No. 600 is dragging the team down. There was a time when his lack of home run production was offset by his ability to hit balls into the gaps and drive in runs. And the team was winning. Now he’s not even doing that, and Yankee hitters are following him into some kind of hitless abyss. He’s mired in a 0-for-17 slump and is 9-for-46 since hitting 599.

Like some kind of sleight-of-hand trick, A-Rod’s No. 600 quest has…

SPORTSBETTING.COM says the Los Angeles Dodgers are still Money in the 2009 MLB Baseball Season

Monday, June 1st, 2009

You knew it wouldn’t last.

We had an article a few weeks back highlighting the most profitable teams in the 2009 MLB baseball season for bettors and one club that stood front and center was the Toronto Blue Jays. Not so much now.

The Los Angeles Dodgers were also a big part of that last column, but they’ve demonstrated some real staying power, even without the services of the suspended Manny. The Dodgers are still the most profitable team in all the majors.

The Dodgers are currently 18-5 at home, 16-10 on the road (34-15 overall) and Joe Torrewhen looking at their future odds at SPORTSBETTING.COM, they are now listed at -3000 to win the National League West, +250 to take the NL pennant and +500 to win the World Series.

Another surprise is the team that is the best money team in the American League.

As mentioned above, it’s not the Toronto Blue Jays, who have fallen back to earth, the Boston Red Sox or even the New York Yankees, the current top money team in the AL is…

Wait for it…

The Texas Rangers. The Rangers are 15-8 at home, 12-11 on the road and 27-19 overall and while…

Betting on the 2009 MLB Baseball Season? Read This…

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgBaseball has already settled in and it’s time to determine where you can put some money on and win big.

One month into the baseball betting marathon that is the 2009 MLB baseball season, is behind us and there have been some surprises thus far. The latest one is of course Manny Ramirez being the latest guy to be linked to banned substances.

With that said, I know most of you won’t be wasting their time (and money) betting on the Dodgers since they’ll have a lot to figure out in the next few weeks with the fallout of the Manny Ramirez issue.

Toronto Blue JaysSo, which team is the best ”money” team in baseball now? Some of you might say the Boston Red Sox are, while some will go with the Tampa Bay Rays. Well, NONE of them are ”money” teams. But if you’re looking for the best team to bet on, you can’t go wrong with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Toronto Blue Jays are 20-10 overall with a profitable 11-4 record at home and a healthy 9-6 record on the road. A $100 a game bettor would have a profit of approximately $950 if they wagered on every Jay game this season so far (depending on the lines when they bet on Toronto).

Over / Under bettors can take note, the Jays have posted…

Toronto Blue Jays visit the Boston Red Sox on Friday

Friday, August 15th, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgOK people, time to shift our attention to baseball for a little bit.

With so much attention focused on the 2008 Beijing Olympics, let us shift our gear to America’s favorite past time for a change, baseball. Teams are already making that push for the playoffs which means it only gets better at this point, especially if you’re a baseball fan.

And as the 2008 MLB baseball season continues, two teams slug it out starting Friday as the three-game season series between the Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays unfolds at Fenway Park in Boston.

David OrtizThe Toronto Blue Jays has 61-59 record coming into this one while the Boston Red Sox has an even better 69-51 mark.

The Red Sox – Blue Jays series start at 7pm when Toronto’s Roy Halladay will be matched-up against Boston’s Paul Byrd. Halladay toiled through a career-high 130 pitches in a loss at home to the Indians on Saturday, which makes you wonder how long can his arm hold up against the Boston sluggers.

Paul Byrd on the other hand, who was acquired from Cleveland last Tuesday, will be making his debut for the Boston Red Sox against Toronto. He has been pitching well. He needed just…

It’s Yankees – Red Sox in the 2008 MLB Season again

Friday, July 25th, 2008

It’s this Friday people, hopefully, another season-series between these two teams will bring some excitement to what has been a boring season.

Yes, you read it, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees will collide once again this 2008 MLB baseball season at Fenway Park in Boston. And although we’ve probably grown tired watching Alex Rodriguez all over the country these days, this is again something to look forward to whether you’re a baseball fan or not.

The second series between these American League East arch rivals starts on Friday from July 25 until July 27. In their previous series, both teams had a split with Boston taking the first two games with a 7-0 and 6-4 win, before the New York Yankees bounced back with 2-1 and 5-4 victories.

Boston Red SoxThe Boston Red Sox, as of press time, have a 58-43 win-loss mark, good for second best behind American League East leader Tampa Bay Rays. The starting pitcher for the Red Sox on Friday will be Josh Beckett, who has a 3.98 ERA, 9-6 win-loss card. The Yankees will put in Joba Chamberlain.

The New York Yankees scheduled Andy Pettitte to be on the mound for game 2. The left handed pitcher has a 3.86 ERA and a 11-7 win-loss mark under his name. He will be match-up against the right handed Tim Wakefield of the Red Sox who has a 3.69 ERA and a 6-7 win-loss record.

In the third and final game between these two teams…

Yankees – Blue Jays MLB Border Rivalry begin Friday

Friday, July 11th, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgBoth cities are only separated by a border, on Friday one will try to outplay the other.

The three game season series between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays start Friday night at the Roger Centre as the 2008 MLB baseball season resumes in Canada.

Both teams are from the American League East Division. The New York Yankees have a 47-42 win-loss card while the Toronto Blue Jays stays at the tail end of the standings in the East with a 42-47 mark.

One interesting thing to watch 2008 MLB baseball seasonin this game is how will Mike Mussina play since he did not make the 2008 MLB All Star Game roster after he was cut by Boston Red Sox and American League manager Terry Francona.

The veteran pitcher eased any hard feelings by pointing out a lot of worthy candidates didn’t get the call as well.

”I’m probably a little disappointed, sure,” Mike Mussina, who won 11 games this year, said after the roster was announced. ”But if you look at the list of guys that didn’t get to go, you could pick a whole other team from the guys on the bubble who didn’t go.”

The Yankees will send Joba Chamberlain to the mound to compete against…

Can the National League keep up with the American League in the 2008 MLB Baseball Season?

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Unfortunately for Mets and Dodgers fans, their teams’ respective counterparts in the American League STILL generate more hype.

That’s the way things have been the last couple of years, and in this 2008 MLB baseball season, nothing has changed. Why? Probably has something to do with the way this team from the AL East simply knocked the hell out of the National League’s representative during last season’s World Series.

In the National League, the Philadelphia Phillies lead the East, the Chicago Cubs lead the Central and the Arizona Diamondbacks lead the West. And although they may be regarded as the ”weaker conference” in baseball, don’t expect that to stop them from proving why people should start thinking otherwise.

Chicago CubsThe Philadelphia Phillies lead the Eastern division with a 41-29 record, also having the best road record in the National conference with 20-16. Against the St. Louis Cardinals, we all saw how impressive this Phillies team can be after the Phillies won with a whopping 20-2 blast. Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Pat Burrell hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the first inning, and the Phillies added nine runs in the fourth to win the opener of a three-game series Friday at Busch Stadium.

In the Central, division leader Chicago Cubs got a slight bump to…

Can the New York Yankees catch the Boston Red Sox?

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Right now, the Yankees are hot stuff and boy, I thought we’d never be able to say that about them Yanks.’

Yep, the New York Yankees are red hot and right now, they are only one and a half game behind the American League East division leaders, Boston Red Sox, this 2007 MLB baseball season.

And that’s not the only thing to be happy about if your a New York Yankees fan. Andy Pettitte, the leftie these Yankees drafted back in 1995, just became the first Yankee draftee to win his 200th game for the Bronx bombers. Although that’s probably because these Yankees just keep on losing key players to various MLB baseball teams.

Andy Pettitte, after Derek Jetera stint with the Houston Astros, returned to the New York Yankees this 2007 MLB baseball season and just last Wednesday, engineered a 2-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles for his 200th win.

Only Greg Maddux and Randy Johnson have won more often. Maddux has 215 while the Big Unit has 203.

Now that Pettitte’s career milestone is over with, the New York Yankees now go for what would be the most important goal they have to achieve heading to the 2007 MLB baseball playoffs, catch the Boston Red Sox and come out of the AL East as…

New York Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens SUSPENDED

Friday, August 10th, 2007

I knew it, these Yankees fucking up yet again was only a matter of time.

Yep, with the New York Yankees, all of a sudden, winning enough games to put them in sole control of the No.2 spot behind their rivals Boston Red Sox in the American League East, Roger Clemens got his ass suspended for five games for throwing a baseball towards Alex Rios and hitting him silly.

Oh yeah, it sure looks like Roger Clemens is back to his old tricks again eh? For all ya’ll who forgot already, Clemens was the same guy who threw a piece of the bat at then New York Mets catcher Mike Piazza.

roger_clemens4.jpgIn this 2007-08 MLB baseball season, Toronto Blue Jays standout Alex Rios is the latest of Clemens’ victims.

This incident was after a somewhat heated first two games in this three-game series between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays. During the opener last Monday, the Blue Jays’ Jesse Litsch threw behind the legs of Yankees’ slugger Alex Rodriguez followed by yet another Blue Jay, this time it was Josh Towers, hitting poor A-Rod on his calf in the third inning of game 2.

Understandably, the bullpens emptied TWICE and Clemens’ was probably just taking matters to his own hands. I mean, c’mon, why can’t these umpires see that the Blue Jays was only interested in taking A-Rod out for the 2007-08 MLB baseball season instead of just winning the…

Alex Rodriguez hits No.499 as Yankees crush Royals

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

seth-edward-oneal.jpgThe New York Yankees are finally winning but you just know they’re gearing up for yet another pathetic losing streak.

For now, the New York Yankees will rejoice and why shouldn’t they? They did win six games straight, putting them within seven games of the AL East division leaders, Boston Red Sox.

Yep, you read it, they are now at the No.2 spot of the American League East standings with the Boston Red Sox barely holding on to a seven-game advantage.

alex_rodriguez5.jpgAfter falling behind the equally pathetic Toronto Blue Jays, the Yankees won six games straight to put up a 54-46 mark and sit at second best behind their rivals from Boston after beating the Kansas City Royals, 7-1.

It was a special win for the Yanks’ too as their superstar, Alex Rodriguez, just knocked the 499th home run of his career. He would’ve definitely love it if A-Rod blasted No.500 but hey, they won after he became the youngest player ever to reach 499, of course he’d take it.

Looking to become only the youngest player ever to hit No.500, Alex Rodriguez connected in the 8th inning off Kansas City Royals pitcher…
