Looks like Tim Tebow will be Perfect for the Buffalo Bills

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Well, that’s what one former Bills quarterback is saying anyway.

Since Jim Kelly retired, the Buffalo Bills have started nine different quarterbacks under center, all of them failing to put the Bills back to prominence.

The Bills’ lackluster play in the recently concluded 2009 NFL football season has made Buffalo’s lack of a good quarterback all the more apparent. And as far as Kelly is concerned, he has an idea on who can save this franchise and put ‘em back to title contention, Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow.

Yes, since the Bills have a legitimate shot at the overall No.1 draft pick, Jim Kelly says the Bills should take Tim Tebow since the guy is THE key to a return to greatness for this franchise.

”Whether it’s Tim Tebow, whether they’ll have a shot at him when draft time comes, you have to look at the top three quarterbacks in the draft, really study them. And you look for a guy with good character, good leadership ability and good arm strength, and a guy who doesn’t come from California,” Jim Kelly said.

”I like Trent personally,” Kelly said, referring to Trent Edwards, the current Bills QB. ”He works hard. But he’s had three years. It’s time to find somebody who is the future of the Buffalo Bills. If I’m the owner, that’s what I’m thinking.”

”You have to start with the head coach and you have to…”

An exciting Week 1 of the 2009 NFL Football Season turned out to be Expensive for some Sports Bettors

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

And boy, was it painful.

In the battle between the books and the sports betting public in Week 1 of the 2009 NFL football season, both sides got their shots in.

The players won the day on Sunday after the smoke cleared late Sunday night with the Green Bay Packers coming back to beat Chicago, finishing the day off nicely for sports bettors (pointspread covers by Dallas, Minnesota, Philadelphia and Baltimore were also solid wins for the players).

But the books rallied back on Monday night with two big underdog covers.

First, the New England Patriots eked out a 25-24 win over the Buffalo Bills but fell well short of covering as 10.5-point home faves. The Pats were suppose to blowout the Bills in Foxboro philip_riversbut thanks to Trent Edwards, they put up a fight that got the Brady Bunch off guard.

In the next game, we saw a very late Darren Sproles TD run, allowing the San Diego Chargers to defeat the Oakland Raiders 24-20. However, since nobody predicted this game to be as close as it turned out to be, it wasn’t enough to allow the Chargers to cover as -9 road faves.

The Patriots and the Chargers both saw a ton of betting action leading up to their games, but many players watched in agony as almost from the opening whistle it was clear neither big favorite was going to blowout their opponents.

So sports bettors gave some money back to…

Tom Brady returns on Monday Night Football

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

The Bills and the Patriots will play on Monday Night Football but Brady’s return to the field is what everybody’s raving about, I guess.

Yep, the first Monday Night Football game of the 2009 NFL football season will feature the highly anticipated return of Tom Brady to football after being out of the field for New England’s entire campaign last year.

This year, Tom Brady is hoping to help his team return to the top of the food chain and a win on their first game of the season will sure put the questions on his health to rest.

tom_bradyBill Belichick and Tom Brady’s combined focus on returning to the top of the league aren’t the only reasons New England Patriots fans are excited this season. Brady not only returns to an offense that re-wrote the record books in 2007 but he returns to an offense that has acquired new weapons like running back Fred Taylor, wide receivers Joey Galloway and Greg Lewis and tight end Chris Baker.

Defensively, a major overhaul has taken place in the back end that so badly let the team down last fall. The Pats are hoping that they’ll be able to improve on a pass defense that gave up too many big plays, too many third-down conversions and waaay too many touchdowns.

The defense remains anchored by a front line that includes Ty Warren as well as linebacker Adalius Thomas. Young players like defensive rookie of the year Jerod Mayo now have a year under their belt and should be able to help that defense now with Richard Seymour gone.

Add in free agents Leigh Bodden and Shawn Springs…

2009 NFL Football Season Week 1 Betting Picks

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Time to bet on this weekend’s line-up of NFL games people.

Yep, the 2009 NFL football season is finally underway and we’re kicking off with a bang with two huge games this Sunday that will feature the return of Brett Favre in one contest and the Cowboys’ first game without T.O. in another. That’s to be followed by a rather nasty Monday night double – header that will feature Tom Brady’s return to the field after a year of absence before the Chargers and the Raiders take their usual spot on Week 1.

And since we’re huge fans of Brett Favre, let’s start with him. The Cleveland Browns will host the visiting Minnesota Vikings as Favre takes on former coach Eric Mangini who now calls the shots on the Browns sidelines.

brett_favreFor the Cleveland Browns, their training camp opened with a familiar theme, a new head coach searching for a starting quarterback. Three preseason games later, Brady Quinn took a lead on Derek Anderson by all accounts except for the account that counts most , that of head coach Eric Mangini.

Well, these guys better get their act together because the Minnesota Vikings are coming. Dealing with Brett Favre’s arm is one thing but trying to contain Adrian Peterson in the run game is a whole different story. Can the Browns take it?

Next we have the Dallas Cowboys taking on the…

Can Terrell Owens help (or destroy) the Buffalo Bills?

Monday, March 16th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYes, they actually took the dive and signed the sonuvabitch.

And while it’s still quite early to determine if Terrell Owens can actually help (likely) or destroy (very likely) the Buffalo Bills since we are still that far away from the 2009 NFL football season, at least people are talking about Buffalo again.

In case you didn’t get that, yes, the Buffalo Bills signed Terrell Owens after the controversial receiver was booted out of Dallas. Buffalo is Owens’ fourth stop after expiring his welcome with three other teams he played with before; the 49ers, the Eagles and the Cowboys. Can the Bills make this T.O. experiment work?

Trent EdwardsWith the Bills signing Terrell Owens, they now have the opportunity to improve their anemic passing game, that is if they can get the controversial wideout and his humongous ego in check.

That responsibility now relies on Bills quarterback Trent Edwards. Who knew that after Edwards endured the most turbulence he had in his career when he was with an ongoing battle with J.P. Losman for the starting QB spot, that he will be welcomed by yet an even bigger one in Terrell Owens.

Edwards will be the fifth quarterback Owens will…

Terrell Owens signs with Buffalo Bills for 6.5 Million

Monday, March 9th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgThe city of Buffalo found a way to make people talk about their team.

In case you didn’t know, Terrell Owens will be playing for the Buffalo Bills once the 2009 NFL football season gets here. It was only a matter of time before the Cowboys released Owens after he just kept on going at it with Cowboys team leaders, Tony Romo and Jason Witten, Buffalo gives T.O. a new start and for now, he’s quite happy about it.

”I’m leaving America’s team (for) North America’s team,” Terrell Owens said at a news conference. ”This may not be the most ideal place for a lot of people, but I’m the guy. I beat to my own beat sometimes, my own thinking, my own intuition.”

Contrary to what he said, Terrell Owensthe Dallas Cowboys left him, not the other way around. And I’m not surprised to hear T.O. say ”me” again only days after signing with the team.

While his prior stints in Dallas, Philadelphia and San Francisco all ended badly, Owens is a major upgrade for a Buffalo Bills team seeking more offensive firepower, statistically speaking. Buffalo was already rebuffed earlier this offseason in attempts to sign wide receiver Laveranues Coles and running backs Fred Taylor and Kevin Jones. With the singing of T.O., the Bills will now have two deep threats with Lee Evans coming off one of his best seasons in his career. The question is, can the Bills co-exist with Owens…

2008 NFL Football Week 15 Betting Picks and Tips

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Since week 15 in the NFL is the only football action we’ll see all weekend, we’re hoping the games we have this week will be good ones.

And since it’s basically now a footrace for the playoffs with only three weeks remaining into the 2008-09 NFL football season, these remaining few games should be very VERY competitive, to say the least, for teams still competing for playoff positions. And after 14 weeks into the season, we learned that the Lions still can’t win shit, the Packers are probably missing Favre by now and the Bills are back doing what they do best… LOSING.

And just like the last five weeks, NFL action starts this Thursday night with a game between the New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Bears. The Saints are looking to avoid another crushing road loss to the Bears when these two postseason-hopeful teams meet on the NFL Network. However, as good as Brian Urlacherboth teams have been last Sunday, the Bears still have the better shot at a postseason berth since they only trail first-place Minnesota by one game in the NFC North. The New Orleans Saints are three games behind NFC South-leading Carolina, so their best chance is most likely a wild card. Winning a game against the Bears at Soldier Field should be tough considering the fact that these Bears already beat them on the same surface.

Chicago Bears by three.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons both took a step backwards in…

Bills V Browns, one team will win Monday Night Football

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Since these two struggling teams are facing each other, yeah, we’re quite sure one of ‘em will win.

Downward spiral. That’s exactly where Buffalo and Cleveland are coming to this huge Monday Night Football game on the 11th week of the 2008-09 NFL football season.

First, we have the Buffalo Bills, a team that was able to have such a roaring start to the season that we already saw people jumping on the Bills’ bandwagon anticipating them to take over the Brady-less AFC East. But after ten weeks, it was New York and its Jets who took over the division while Buffalo plummeted down the standings after losing three straight.

The Cleveland Browns, on the other hand, Trent Edwardswere expected to stir up some noise this year after such a strong finish to the 2007 season. But for some reason, the Browns struggled to get going right from the start of their 2008 campaign. Last season’s Pro Bowl quarterback Derek Anderson has already been shelved as a result for second year player Brady Quinn, but after losing two straight, it looks like even Quinn won’t be able to salvage what’s left of their season.

These two teams will play on Monday Night Football at Ralph Wilson Stadium…

2008 NFL Football Week 11 Betting Picks and Tips

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

It’s Week 11 in the NFL and in case you haven’t felt it yet, the playoffs are just around the corner.

Week 11 of the 2008-09 NFL football season starts this Thursday night as teams continue to jockey for position with the playoffs only less than two months away. And after ten weeks into the season, we learned that the Titans continue to surprise themselves, the Bills continue to disappoint their fans, the Giants like to toy with their prey and an old fart like Kurt Warner could be the MVP at the end of the year.

Crazy huh? Guess what, it only gets crazier because Week 11 starts with the New England Patriots. What has been crazy about this team is the fact that they have been able to stay on top of their division playing without starting quarterback Tom Brady and starting running back Laurence Maroney. They have Brett Favre and the surging New York Jets this Thursday night and since the Jets are tied with the Pats for the AFC East lead, this Eric Mangini – Bill Belichick rivalry will resume with the division lead at stake.

Randy Moss and Wes WelkerThe 6-3 New England Patriots earned a key division win Sunday, controlling the clock for nearly 38 minutes and outgaining Buffalo 370-168 en route to a 20-10 victory. Matt Cassel continued to show improvement as Tom Brady’s replacement, completing 23 of 34 passes for 234 yards and running for a touchdown for the second straight week for head coach Bill Belichick. The New York Jets, also at 6-3, have virtually no time to bask in the most-lopsided victory in their history, as they take the field again four days after a 47-3 drubbing of St. Louis. This game against their bitter rivals promises to be much tougher, especially with the winner taking sole possession of the division lead. Of course…

2008 NFL Football Week 7 Betting Picks and Tips

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

You read it, NFL football will be seven weeks old come Sunday and teams have already started to jockey for playoff position.

And coming to Week 7 of the 2008-09 NFL football season, we learned that the Raiders still suck no matter who coaches those fucks, the Cowboys can’t punt in overtime, Matt Cassel won’t be Tom Brady anytime soon and the Browns can surprise football fans once in a while.

There sure were a lot of surprises last week, which makes this brand new week of football even more exciting to watch. Looking for another underdog to win this week? If there’s one game that just might be able to give you that, we have to go with this game between the Cowboys and the Rams just because Dallas just might visit St. Louis without franchise quarterback Tony Romo.

Tony RomoYou read it, Romo could be out for their game against the 1-4 St. Louis Rams. After losing two of the last three games, the Cowboys found out that Romo will be out for at least four weeks with a broken right pinky finger on his throwing hand. He suffered the injury on the first play of the overtime loss to the Cardinals last Sunday. And although Romo plans to play hurt this weekend, we don’t know for sure if he’ll still be the same guy when he suits up for St. Louis.

However, the Dallas Cowboys still have a playmaker in Terrell Owens and…
