Ball State plays Tulsa in the 2009 GMAC Bowl

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

seth-edward-oneal.jpgAnd it’s on January 6, at the Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.

The 2009 GMAC Bowl will mark the second straight year the Tulsa Golden Hurricane will play in this BCS bowl game. Last season, Tulsa handily beat Bowling Green, 63-7, to win that year’s GMAC Bowl.

It was the largest margin of victory in BCS bowl history, as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane erased the record set by the Alabama Crimson Tide back in 1953 when they dominated Syracuse, 61-6, to win the Orange Bowl.

Tulsa is going back to the GMAC Bowl and Ball State Cardinalswill face a team that won its first 12 games this season, the Ball State Cardinals. Although Ball State ended the regular season with a disappointing 42-24 loss to Buffalo, the Cardinals still got the invite for the GMAC bowl.

The question now is, are they mentally prepared for the Golden Hurricanes, a team going for their second straight GMAC bowl win.

Ball State started this season 12-0 before losing 42-24 against Buffalo in the Mid-American Conference championship game. Ball State was ranked No.12 in the Associated Press top 25 poll. But after losing to the Bulls, the Cardinals dropped to No.23 in the rankings.Ironically, Tulsa also…

Southern Miss visit Marshall on Sunday night

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

Week 8 of the college football season will be having a Sunday night game for only the third time this year.

It’ll be the Southern Miss Golden Eagles visiting the Marshall Thundering Herd as the 2007 NCAA college football season continues at Edwards Stadium in Huntington, West Virginia.

The Marshall Thundering Herd, despite all that ”We are Marshall” crap, are yet to win a single game on that college football field. You’ve got to wonder when will these guys finally wake up.

Their latest loss, and there have been many this season, were to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Tulsa QB Paul Smith smothered the Thundering Herd defense for 385 yards, not to mention two touchdowns and another when he ran with it.

The result? Another disappointing loss for Marshall, 38-31, extending what has been a pathetic losing streak to SIX GAMES.

For what it’s worth, the Thundering Herd, despite all the disappointments they’ve been having so far, are excited that they’ll finally be returning home for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles since New Hampshire hammered them last September 15.

They’re hoping that being at home will help them to finally get a…

Oklahoma Sooners visit Tulsa to remain Perfect

Friday, September 21st, 2007

BOOMER SOONER nation is back and right now, no team has able to shut them up yet.

Week 4 of the 2007-08 NCAA college football season resumes with the red-hot Oklahoma Sooners taking on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Friday after Western Kentucky and Miami took care of their rivals to start the week.

Yes, this year’s Oklahoma Sooners, behind the stellar play of quarterback Sam Bradford, have become one of the elite teams in college football. They virtually crushed the first three teams unfortunate enough to face this powerhouse Sooners team and you just know they would want Tulsa to be victim number four.

Oklahoma SoonersThis Friday’s game between the Sooners and the Golden Hurricane will feature two of the nation’s top offenses.

Oklahoma’s conventional approach takes on Tulsa’s no-huddle offense. Sure, no-huddle offenses are cool but as long as you have a Peyton Manning behind center, playing a no-huddle offense is always a risk, especially if you’re playing Oklahoma.

For what it’s worth, that no-huddle offense is working for Tulsa after two games. The 2-0 Tulsa Golden Hurricane has averaged…

NCAA Betting: Keep Away From the BCS Busts

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

pinkney_james051017.jpgCovers’ once again trolls the murkiest conferences for unranked teams that can bring home bank for those of us sick of losing money playing the BCS turds every week. Once again, the East Carolina Pirates(5-1, ATS) rank the highest. Everybody should know to love this team by now. If not, shame on you. The rest: Minnesota (5-2) "The Golden Gophers would be the best bet going in the Big Ten. But for now they?ll have to share that distinction with the Badgers, whose comeback win handed Minnesota its second ATS loss of the season and its last in three games." Tulsa (5-2) " The real reason the Golden Hurricanes have five paydays in their pockets.
