Injuries that you should be aware of before Betting on Week 2 of the 2009 NFL Football Season

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

And we have a number of ‘em.

We have a few notable events that took place in Week 1 that could have a bearing on Week 2 NFL betting action. Yes, we already have some costly injuries after a week of the 2009 NFL football season and these just might change the way you bet on certain games.

Listed as a Pick’em prior to their season opener against the Carolina Panthers, the Philadelphia Eagles had no trouble enabling their bettors to cash in, hammering the hometown Panthers 38-10.

The impressive victory however came at a cost as Eagles starting QB Donovan McNabb suffered a fractured a lower left rib. As the team begins practicing for its home opener against the New Orleans Saints this weekend, the game is currently off the board, it seems as if they are preparing for the possibility that McNabb could be gone for at least two weeks.

donovan_mcnabbAlthough head coach Andy Reid is quoted in the USAToday as saying McNabb is ”going to do everything he possibly can to play this week” the team is making moves that say otherwise.

Firstly, the Eagles activated suspended QB Michael Vick from the exempt list, setting the stage for the former Falcon pivot to practice with the team. Vick won’t be able to see action until Game 3.

Philadelphia also acquired former backup QB Jeff Garcia who went 6-2 as a starter when McNabb was injured in 2006.

Despite the McNabb injury, the Eagles’ odds to win the NFC East are actually improved, moving from +240 in the preseason to its current +180, as bettors liked what they’ve seen, even if McNabb is on the shelf for a couple of weeks.

Another key injury heading to Week 2 is the loss of…

Apparently, Los Angeles didn’t want Beckham back

Monday, July 20th, 2009

In case you didn’t know, Beckham was back in LA.

And it was only a matter of time before David Beckham played in his first home game with the Los Angeles Galaxy. The problem is, it was against the very team he wanted to save him from MLS soccer for good, AC Milan.

Five months ago, the Los Angeles Galaxy sent David Beckham on loan to AC Milan. It turned out to be a wrong move in LA’s part since it was then when Becks realized just how much better playing for Milan is than with the Galaxy in the MLS. When Beckham pleaded the Galaxy to make his move to Europe permanent, soccer fans from Los Angeles were not happy and they made sure Beckham will know just how unhappy they were last Sunday.

David BeckhamPlaying in his first home game with the Los Angeles Galaxy against AC Milan, David Beckham got a somewhat hostile reception. Yes, Beckham was booed the whole time he was on the pitch. Heck, the jeering got worse to the point that Beckham confronted a fan at halftime.

Yup, the frequent booing and derisive banners clearly angered Beckham. With homemade signs that have messages directed at Beckham like, ”Go home fraud” with a red slash through his no.23 jersey number, ”23: Repent,” ”Hey Becks, Here Before You, Here After You, Here Despite You,” and ”Is evil something u are… or something u do,” Beckham has every right to be pissed.

Of course, Beckham can only blame himself and his…

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan and fired Raiders coach Lane Kiffin agree, Al Davis is a fucking asshole

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

He he… Of course, we all knew that already.

You read it, while the Oakland Raiders this 2008-09 NFL football season continue to piss on the once great Silver and Black tradition Jerry Rice and Rich Gannon helped build in Oakland, Raiders owner Al Davis found even more ways for him to be the most hated man in the league these days.

For all ya’ll who haven’t heard, the Oakland Raiders, after losing two straight games to drop them to 1-3, have finally fired their head coach Lane Kiffin, thanks to Al Davis who blasted on his former employee in a way that would make Donald Trump himself look like a fucking angel.

In a letter addressed to the fired Lane Kiffin, it was clear that Al Davis was claiming Kiffin brought it upon himself to be fired. And although we are not sure how accurate Davis’ accusations are, it was written in a way only the Raiders can pull off, pathetic but entertaining.

”I realized when I hired you that you were young and inexperienced and that there would be a learning process for you,” Al Davis wrote in the letter. ”Your mistakes on player personnel and coaches were overlooked based on our patience with you. But I never dreamt that you would be untruthful in statements to the press as well as on so many other issues. Your actions are those of a coach…”

Cristiano Ronaldo wants out of Manchester United

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

seth-edward-oneal.jpgAlthough he did not directly say it, you just have this feeling that probably the biggest star in football wants a change, starting with his team.

Before the 2008-09 English Premier League season begins, we already heard the news that could very well have a huge impact on English football. Real Madrid from the Spanish Primera Liga wants Cristiano Ronaldo out of England.

If Real pulls this off, Cristiano Ronaldo will be the second English football star they pried out of England, the first one being David Beckham, also from Manchester United. And while the club still refuses to sell their Portugese superstar, FIFA president Sepp Blatter himself hinted that Man-U should just let Ronaldo go if the player really wants to leave.

And guess what, Ronaldo agrees with him. FIFA president Sepp Blatter sort of described Man-U’s refusal to let Ronaldo go where he wants to be, a case of ”modern slavery” and although he did not directly pointed the finger on the reigning English football champions, you just know Old Trafford got the point.

Sure, Cristiano Ronaldo is not as well-known as a David Beckham yet but the guy still has his entire football career in front of him and being one of the biggest football stars in England already at such a young age, a transfer to…

Floyd Mayweather V Ricky Hatton for Welterweight Title

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

And mind you, this is a boxing match between two undefeated fighters.

Yep, it’s on this Saturday as defending Ring magazine and WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., well, DEFENDS his title against Ricky Hatton in a 12-round boxing encounter in Las Vegas.

There sure are quite a number of things you can call this one besides the fact that it’s a WBC welterweight championship bout. The obvious one is of course, a battle of two undefeated fighters with Floyd Mayweather standing at 38-0 with 24 KOs while Ricky Hatton stands at 43-0 with 31 of them coming by way of knockout. (I’ve always wanted to say that…)

This fight could be dubbed as USA vs. England too because obviously, the American Mayweather is set to face one of the best fighters coming out of Manchester, England. That, of course, is Hatton.

While were at it, I’m going to throw this one as well: we can also call it as the present day’s version of Apollo Creed vs. Rocky Balboa. For all ya’ll not familiar with the Rocky movies, Balboa was coming into a fight against a great black champion in the very first movie (first of six…) who virtually decimated…

A Tired David Beckham flew in from England to lead the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 3-0 loss to Chivas USA

Friday, August 24th, 2007

David Beckham did everything he could, even flying all the way from Europe back to Cali. He still lost. Too bad eh?

Last Thursday, David Beckham flew from Europe to Los Angeles to lead the Los Angeles Galaxy in an MLS soccer match against Chivas USA. Unfortunately for Becks, there was no hero’s welcome this time as Chivas simply dominated L.A., 3-0.

Oh yeah, that wasn’t the only thing that got David Beckham pissed too. Becks got somewhat, a little feisty after Jesse Marsch of Chivas USA tackled him from behind. At least the guy is finally showing some emotion since arriving from Real Madrid to play in the 2007 MLS soccer season right?

david_beckham21.jpgAccording to Jesse Marsche, the stunt he pulled on Beckham was a retaliation somewhat of a recent play he claims Beckham pulled on him. Somebody tell this guy that he just became the most hated man not only in L.A., but in all of England.

”He kind of got a piece of me the play before that and so it was somewhat of a retaliation, somewhat of a tactical foul because he was on the break,” Jesse Marsch said. ”It was harder than I would have liked it to…”

An ugly MLS debut for David Beckham with L.A. Galaxy

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

seth-edward-oneal.jpgAfter weeks of anticipation for Beckham’s official debut with the Galaxy in MLS soccer, the fans finally got what they wanted, sort of.

Yep, David Beckham finally played Thursday in his first official game with the Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS soccer against D.C. United. The RFK Stadium was packed, all hoping Beckham will finally show. And when he did, Beckham’s team couldn’t even muster a single goal.

In case you didn’t get that, David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy lost to D.C. United, 1-0. Ugh… Definitely NOT the way David Beckham wanted to make his highly anticipated MLS debut eh?

For what it’s worth, David Beckham is happy to finally play for the team that’s paying him all this dough. ”It felt a lot better tonight than it has for a while,” David Beckham said. ”It’s difficult after eight weeks doing hardly anything, but I was happy to be back on the field tonight.”

The people in RFK Stadium simply went nuts when David Beckham entered the pitch. Heck, everybody was taking pictures every single time Beckham handled the ball. They sure were happy alright, despite the fact that Becks only entered the fixture in the…

David Beckham doing a KOBE on the MLS

Friday, June 8th, 2007

Did you heard about Kobe Bryant’s ”trade me, trade me not” drama with the Los Angeles Lakers lately?

Well, it’s possible that David Beckham could be experiencing the exact same thing with Los Angeles these days. Following his return to the England national team, BIG for Becks but probably insignificant to Steve McCLaren, David Beckham is now having second thoughts about moving to L.A. in the United States.

And mind you, this is after he had already signed a whopping £125 million contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy last January. He he… I guess these BIG sports icons just doesn’t have a clue what to do anymore eh?

David Beckham made david_beckham6.jpghis return to the England national team at Wembley Stadium in an international friendly against powerhouse Brazil a few days ago. And because of the standing ovation Beckham received from the English football fans, he is now contemplating whether signing with a team in the dump known as the MLS was the right thing to do or not.

”I hope playing in America for LA Galaxy will not have any adverse effect on my chances of playing for England,” said David Beckham, who was given a hero’s welcome and a standing ovation when…

Liverpool fans are WORST in European Football

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

seth-edward-oneal.jpgProbably because these guys get in all sorts of trouble every single time Steven Gerrard and the rest of the Reds get their asses kicked.

In a report prepared by UEFA officials, fans of the Liverpool football club were branded as the worst in all of Europe. The report, much to the dismay of Liverpool fans all across England, is to be presented to sports minister Richard Caborn on Tuesday.

According to UEFA officials, the report compiled by their undercover police agents (Wha?!? They actually have undercover agents for this?) say that there have been more incidents involving Liverpool fans than anyone else the last FOUR YEARS.

Of course, all this shit was instigated liverpool_fans.jpgafter these Liverpool fans literally bastardized Athens, Greece following their team’s disappointing loss to the 2007 UEFA Champions League winners, AC Milan.

For all of you not paying attention, a number of Liverpool fans were arrested in Athens, Greece after Filippo Inzaghi led AC Milan to a 2-1 win over the English RED giants. Before the match, 128 fans were already arrested, 90 of which are from England. These guys were stopped with counterfeit tickets by police at the entrance of the…
