I guess it was only a matter of time before the Redskins found a taker.
After the Washington Redskins acquired the services of Donovan McNabb for the coming 2010 NFL football season, many assumed that Jason Campbell was well on his way out. And just a few short weeks after landing McNabb, the Redskins finally got rid of that ”other black quarterback” nobody from D.C. wanted anymore.
You read it, with Donovan McNabb now Washington’s new main man at quarterback, the Redskins traded Jason Campbell to the Oakland Raiders, letting Campbell start over after all those disappointing runs he had with the nation’s capital.
The problem is, the Oakland Raiders haven’t, in no shape or form, done better than the Washington Redskins. In fact, from all those years Campbell played for the Redskins, the Raiders have been worse.
Still, Campbell believes getting traded to the Oakland Raiders will give him a fresh start. Of course, we all know he could care less at this point as long as he gets paid by Al Davis handsomely. And for all ya’ll wondering, the Raiders added a year on the existing contract he had with the Redskins, letting him make $4.5 million in 2011.
”I look at this as getting to start over,” Jason Campbell said in a phone interview…

WOW. Now that could be the biggest deal made in the NFL for quite a while.
Looks like the Philadelphia Eagles will have a brand new look for the 2010 NFL football season with the departure of the two huge pieces that ran the team for the past few years. In case you haven’t heard, the team parted ways with star running back Brian Westbrook, and now, just a few hours ago, they sent star quarterback Donovan McNabb to Washington.
You read it, Donovan McNabb was traded to the Washington Redskins for a pair of draft picks Sunday night. Football fans saw this coming a mile away but McNabb and the entire Eagles organization denied it, sort of.
With McNabb now in D.C., that should ”hopefully”
give the Washington Redskins a solid threat at the QB spot. Something Jason Campbell failed at, miserably, the last couple of seasons.
As for the Philadelphia Eagles, I have no idea why they thought trading McNabb away was the right way to go in their quest for a Super Bowl championship. Sure, McNabb is probably in the twilight of his career but c’mon, the guy is still a whole lot better than most guys in the NFL.
”Donovan McNabb was more than a franchise quarterback for this team,” Eagles…

I’m hoping the Patriots will have the balls to go ahead and sign this dude.
The 2010 NFL football season is shaping up to be an interesting one to say the least with two of the league’s biggest and longest tenured running backs parting ways with their respective teams.
The releases of LaDainian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook have set off a firestorm of rumors and speculation about where the two backs might end up next season. Both still have a little something left in the tank, so it’s just a matter of finding the right team for their skill sets.
As far as LaDainian Tomlinson is concerned, he limits his prospective employment to teams capable of winning the Super Bowl. He has reduced his options to a very small field. And then he’s
going to have to take a very modest contract, given his performance level in 2009 (730 rushing yards, 3.3 per carry, 20 catches) for a very good team.
There is a reasonably good chance no Super Bowl contender will offer Tomlinson, 30, that chance. But history says that Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots might, or Mike Shanahan in Washington could. This is not to say the Redskins are a Super Bowl contender.
It appears that unless Tomlinson is willing to join a team like the Cincinnati Bengals or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his best chance to reach the Super Bowl still might be through San Diego. And he just cashed out there.
One good fit for Tomlinson are the New Orleans Saints…

He better be or they’ll soon get another guy to call offensive plays from the booth all over again.
The Washington Redskins are looking forward to start the 2010-11 NFL season with a new lease in life after hiring Hall of Famer head coach Mike Shanahan. Yup, these guys had such a miserable season that they couldn’t wait for the 2010 NFL playoffs to be over, they’re already looking forward for the next season.
This move marks the latest development for the Washington Redskins who had a miserable 4-12 outing this year. Mike Shanahan replaced Jim Zorn, who went 12-20 over two seasons and lost 18 of his last 24 games after a 6-2 start in 2008.
The Washington Redskins struggled early despite a weak schedule this season and finished with their worst record since 1994.
The addition of Shanahan will give leadership and experience the team lacks for the past decade. (Sorry Jim Zorn…) Shanahan, who signed a five-year deal, has won two Super Bowl rings under his belt in 14 seasons with the Denver Broncos, but was sacked a year ago after they missed the playoffs for the third straight season.
He made the playoffs in half of his seasons in Denver, and had only two losing seasons, in 1999 and 2007. His greatest successes…

Well, Tom Coughlin certainly hopes so.
At 7-6, the New York Giants are on the brink of missing the playoffs after such a strong start to the 2009 NFL football season a few months ago.
Yes, it looks like the Dallas Cowboys are not the only team having their fair share of problems this December as we witnessed the New York Giants squander away all the momentum they’ve generated during the early parts of the season.
Once lording over the NFC East, Eli Manning and the rest of the Giants now find themselves sitting third behind the struggling Cowboys. Their remaining three games are huge if they want to clinch that wild card playoff spot. A loss could very well be the killer to their hopes of a run at the Super Bowl.
On Monday Night Football, they have the Washington Redskins in the first of three must-win games for the Giants. After this NFC East rivalry, the Giants have the Carolina Panthers before heading to the Metrodome to face the red hot Minnesota Vikings.
Yup, it doesn’t look too good for the Giants right now. But if there’s that one guy who can help the Giants make that final push for the postseason, it’s Eli Manning. Sure, he can be inconsistent at times but the fact of the matter is, the guy can make plays when it counts the most.
Just ask the Patriots after Eli led the Giants to win…

Because that’s exactly where they’re headed again in December, THE WRONG WAY.
After posting the best record in the NFC East this 2009 NFL football season, the Dallas Cowboys welcomed December the way they welcomed the month last season and the season before that, losing.
Yes, the Dallas Cowboys are struggling again in December, dropping the first two games of the month to relinquish the division lead to Philadelphia and possibly their hopes of a playoff spot. And since six new ”wrong way” signs were placed along the Dallas North Tollway as part of an effort to prevent more deaths and injuries from motorists going in the wrong direction, maybe somebody needs to put up one more inside the Cowboys locker room.
Well, at least Tony Romo and the rest of the Cowboys are consistent. They have always struggled during the month of December and with the teams these guys would have to play in the next three weeks, I’m not expecting ”America’s team” to finally put an end to what is turning out to be their very own ”Holiday curse.”
Next weekend, the Cowboys travel to the Superdome to face the undefeated New Orleans Saints. The Saints are just on a different level this season and I don’t see the Cowboys coming up with an upset in New Orleans.
After that, these ‘Boys will go back on the road again, this time to visit the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field. The Redskins are finally playing good football, probably because they know they don’t have anywhere to go now but up. They don’t have anything to lose at this point of the season and taking the Cowboys down with them to finish the year will just be too sweet to resist.
Then finally, the Cowboys end the regular season with…

Betting on the NFL for the last time before Christmas Day couldn’t be any better.
Because Week 15 of the 2009 NFL football season has FOUR games for you on primetime, two of ‘em could very well rewrite history while the other two could very well rewrite the playoff seeding.
Let’s start with the first team looking to rewrite history this season, the Indianapolis Colts. In case you haven’t noticed, they haven’t lost a game for quite some time now and on Thursday night Football, they are looking to continue their undefeated streak against the Jacksonville Jaguars to kick off Week 15.
Yep, the Indianapolis Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars relive their AFC South rivalry. The Colts have already secured the AFC’s No.1 seed for the playoffs. And while the Jaguars would love to beat their AFC rivals this Thursday night and give themselves that late push for a wild card spot, the Colts are just playing too good to be beat these days.
The last time these two teams met, Indianapolis beat Jacksonville 14-12. The Colts are 12-4 all-time against the Jaguars with Peyton Manning at quarterback. The three-time league MVP, 28 of 38 for 301 yards with a touchdown and an interception in their last meeting with the Jaguars, passed for 4,354 yards with 30 TDs and 11 picks in those 16 games against Jacksonville.
Manning is looking to get back on track following a shaky…

13-0, that’s what both teams are gunning for this Sunday.
Yes, the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints are still undefeated at this point of the 2009 NFL football season. They have the Denver Broncos and the Atlanta Falcons respectively, can they come out of Week 14 still perfect?
First, the Indianapolis Colts. Unlike the Saints, the Colts have been here before, 12-0 with only four more games to play in the season. In fact, the Colts have been so dominant that they have this massive 21-game winning streak going for them when they take on the Denver Broncos. 21 straight wins, that’s incredible.
Can they beat the Denver Broncos this Sunday to remain perfect? The Colts would sure love to beat the Broncos alright, but their main concern is to clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs. They could care less about a perfect season.
”Being 12-0 is always a good thing,” Colts running back Joseph Addai said. ”I think the winning streak builds confidence. We’ve seen too many teams that go undefeated and toward the end of the season they really don’t make it all the way to the Super Bowl title.”
If Peyton Manning and the Colts beat Denver on Sunday for their record-setting 22nd consecutive regular season victory, they will also clinch the AFC’s top seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. And that is more important to these guys than making the 1972 Dolphins cry.
A win over the Broncos (8-4) would make the Colts…

Don’t worry, we got you covered.
Yes, it’s Thanksgiving and since it’s customary for the NFL to bombard you with not one, not two, but THREE games for you to enjoy while you stuff yer mouth with that turkey, we’re gonna tell you which team to bet on as we kick off Week 12 of the 2009 NFL football season.
And in case you’re wondering, the Detroit Lions will once again host a Thanksgiving Day game. Go figure. This year, the 2-8 Lions take on the 6-4 Green Bay Packers and just like the last time the Lions hosted a Thanksgiving Day game, they’re going to get their asses kicked all over Ford Field for the entire world to see.
The Green Bay Packers, who have won their last two games, will have to compensate for the losses of the two Pro Bowl players; cornerback Al Harris and linebacker Aaron Kampman, as both players will miss the rest of the season because of knee injuries.
The Packers will plug in either rookie Brad Jones or Brady Poppinga to replace Kampman at left outside linebacker in their 3-4 scheme. Jones started for Kampman, who…

People from Kansas City saw this one coming a mile away.
To say that the Kansas City Chiefs are having a campaign to forget this 2009 NFL football season could be an understatement. After earning their first win of the season when they beat the Washington Redskins two weeks ago, they are once again losing games. These guys are currently on a two-game losing skid and I don’t see anything that could change the Chiefs’ fortunes for the immediate future.
Of course, that won’t stop the Kansas City Chiefs from making some moves. And they may have made the biggest one yet. You see, the Chiefs have finally let franchise running back Larry Johnson go and for the first time in the Pro Bowler’s career, he’s no longer welcome in Kansas.
After seven years playing in Kansas City, Larry Johnson was finally released by the Chiefs on the same day that he was due back from his second suspension in the past 12 months. Is this just a matter of the Chiefs getting rid of excess baggage or is Kansas City letting go of a solid running back who still has a few good years left in him?
The rest of the NFL thinks the latter.
Teams like the Chicago Bears and the Houston Texans have already expressed their desire of signing a player of Johnson’s caliber as soon as they learned that the Chiefs have finally released him. Will we see a deal…
