2008 BCS Bowl Games

AllState Sugar Bowl

The 74th AllState Sugar Bowl Classic is on at the Louisiana Superdome probably to give football fans in New Orleans something to smile about.

Yep, it’s the Georgia Bulldogs and the Hawaii Warriors battling in the 2008 AllState Sugar Bowl game. Both teams have just been phenomenal this season and it’ll be interesting to see these two red-hot teams clash on one football field.

First, the Georgia Bulldogs. These guys are on a roll with a six-game winning streak, capped off with a 31-17 victory at Georgia Tech on Nov.24. Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Matthew Stafford has passed for 2,348 yards and 18 touchdowns this season while freshman running back Knowshon Moreno has topped the 100-yard rushing mark six times, rushing for 1,273 yards and 12 touchdowns.

As if that wasn’t enough offense, Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Sean Bailey leads all Bulldog players in receptions (37) and receiving yards (597) and is tied for the team lead in touchdowns (four).

Rose Bowl

And by simply reading that alone, you just know these Trojans will be trying to salvage their disappointing season by winning the Rose Bowl.

On January 1 in Pasadena, Californians will be rocking as they try to will the USC Trojans to end what has been a rather disappointing campaign in the 2007 NCAA college football season on a high note by winning the 2008 Rose Bowl game over the Illinois Fighting Illini.

over the Illinois Fighting Illini.

You see, before the season began, the USC Trojans were the heavy favorites to win it all, with quarterback John David Booty winning the Heisman. After 14 weeks of college football, John David Booty is nowhere near the top four Heisman candidates and the Trojans, nowhere near the BCS national championship game.

STILL, they managed to get to the Rose Bowl to go up against Illinois. However, if these Trojans think that the Illinois Fighting Illini will just give ‘em the red carpet for USC to end their season with the Rose Bowl championship, they have another thing coming.

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl

BOOMER SOONER people. That will be the theme of the day once it’s time to FIESTA.

Yep, on Jan.2, the 2008 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl will be decided between the Oklahoma Sooners and the West Virginia Mountaineers. You just know that this one should and WILL be all Oklahoma because of two reasons.

ONE, the Mountaineers ain’t a WAC team that can shock the Oklahoma Sooners yet again in a FIESTA, (HINT: Boise State) and two, the Mountaineers are probably still reeling after blowing that chance to play in the BCS national championship game.

The West Virginia Mountaineers had the trip to the 2008 BCS national championship game in the bag, all they had to do was beat their rivals, Pittsburgh Panthers, and they’re there. Unfortunately for them, they lost their last game of the regular season to Pittsburgh, 13-9, and just like that, all their BCS national title hopes faded.

FedEx Orange Bowl

And while Miami virtually doesn’t have ANYTHING to look forward to this season in ANY kind of sport, at least they have THIS at Dolphin Stadium.

Yep, you read it, the 2008 FedEx Orange Bowl will be played in this cesspool dubbed ‘’Miami'’ right in the middle of absurdity, Dolphin Stadium. Of all the places to have this great college football game, they chose this shithole huh? But hey, it’s the Orange Bowl so I guess we can still hope for a good football game and forget about those Dolphins for a little bit.

It’s offense against defense on this one people as the Kansas Jayhawks will bring their No.2 ranked offense to match-up against the Virginia Tech Hokies and their No.2 ranked defense.

Yep, the Kansas Jayhawks sure played good this season. They improved from a dismal 6-6 mark a year ago to 11-1 today.

AllState BCS Championship Game

Oh yes, the Buckeyes have found their way back to the national championship picture.

And although Ohio is GEOGRAPHICALLY still a part of the cesspool dubbed as ‘’Miami,'’ I’ll just pretend it’s not. After all, the Buckeyes ARE playing for a national title on January 7 in the 2008 AllState BCS Championship Game, unlike the rest of Miami’s teams that can’t do anything right but suck their own balls come game time.

And in case you still didn’t get that, I’ve been a Buckeye fan for a long time now and will be rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes against the LSU Tigers a few weeks from now. That’s considering the fact that the national championship game will be played on the Tigers’ turf, den if you will, in New Orleans.

This will be the second consecutive trip for the Ohio State Buckeyes to the BCS national championship game. And in case you missed it, the Florida Gators beat the Buckeyes the last time they were here and I reckon it’ll be Ohio State’s BOWL GAME this time.
